Well, Little Man, I remember when your mom and dad told me they were going to have a baby. They were a little nervous. Your dad said to me, "Well, Mother, I know you're too young to be a grandmother, but James is getting old...." I replied, "Well, then, you'd better get on the phone and tell him." They started calling people, and pretty soon the news was out. On January 31, 2011, at 10 o'clock I received a phone call. Your parents had just come from the doctor's office and the news was, "We are having a baby boy." Your mom and dad started coming up with names...weird names. They wanted you to have your own special name, one that nobody else had. Your dad came up with Kage, your mom selected Fischer, and I decided to call you "My little Ninja." Your mom designed what she wanted your room to look like, and your Dad went to work. Nana and Grandpa bought the furniture, and in no time your room was ready. You were originally supposed to be born on June 23rd, but they moved the date to July 1st. Your mom had some very nice baby showers and you got everything. The church ladies wanted to give your mom a shower. Finally, due to scheduling conflicts, the date was set for June 18th. On June 10th, when your great-aunt Eileene and I got off work, we drove to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to support your cousin Samuel in his Bible Quizzing. On our drive up, I received a call from your dad. He said that Nana had taken your mom to see the doctor, who had decided that she needed to stay at the hospital. He said that it was just a precaution and that she would probably go home the next day.

We stayed for the quizzing and Samuel did a good job. (He won Gold.) Your dad was calling me with updates, and it seemed you were going to come early. Since you were not supposed to arrive for another three weeks, I hadn't found you the little Camo outfit that your dad had requested. During the lunch break, your Aunt Eileene and I located the Bass Pro Shop. Surely they would have Camo. I found two Camo outfits, but nothing small enough for a newborn. I called your granddad in Fort Worth, and he went shopping. He picked up a Camo outfit at Cabela's, but it wasn't small enough either. Oh well, we tried, but you weren't going to wait. You were born June 11, 2011 at 10:37 PM. You weighed 6 lbs. and 7 oz. You were 18 inches in length. Nana, Lili, Poppie, Granddad, Uncle Rodney and I (Meme) were at the hospital. Your dad came out to the waiting room just beaming. We all followed him to the nursery window for your first photo shoot. It was there that your dad learned how to do the burrito wrap. For the next few days you were visited by several family members and friends. You had a little jaundice, so you stayed under the lights with your sunglasses on. On June 14th, weighing 5 pounds and 13 ounces, you got to go home. You rode in your new car seat. It was an early shower gift from the hostesses of your Nazarene Church shower. Your Aunt Eileene and Uncle Terry delivered it to the hospital, since you arrived one week before the shower.

Your first stop was Memaw's. She prepared lunch for your mom and dad. On June 16th, you went back to see the doctor. You had gained 2 oz. and weighed 5 lbs. and 15 oz. Since you arrived early, you were not allowed out in public for six weeks. I hated to hear that. I wanted to show you off at the church shower. You should have seen the beautiful cake and cookies your Aunt Eileene made! You weren't a happy baby. You cried a lot and couldn't sleep. Your Nana came and stayed to help your mom. When your Nana got a fever, Lili came to help. On June 27th, you went to see the doctor. You weighed 6 lbs. and 9 oz. and were a little over 19 inches in length. You were having trouble sleeping and keeping your milk down. We were all praying for you. You were one sick little man, and your mom was tired. On July 15th, you went to see a specialist. You were already on medicine for acid reflux, but your little throat was irritated. With all your eating issues, you still weighed 8 lbs. and 8 oz. You were tested to see if the opening from the small intestines to the stomach was too small. On July 21st, you went to see another pediatrician. She took you off the Zantac and put you on Prevacid. She thought that maybe the Zantac had you so wired that you couldn't sleep. Good news...you only had acid reflux. Bad news... your little throat and stomach were still hurting, and you couldn't get a good night's rest. They switched your formula several times and added rice cereal to help keep it down. We reached the end of July, and you were still having horrible evenings. We were still praying.

Three months passed and you hadn't slept all night. Bless your little heart and your mom's too. When you turned four months old in October, you weighed 15 pounds. You had slept all night only three times in your life, so we got a new pediatrician. This doctor gave you grape-flavored medicine for your stomach in addition to the acid reflux medicine. She thought that if your stomach could become calm, then you should be able to sleep and rest better. On October 10th, you and your dad were watching the Rangers play ball in the ALCS against the Tigers. When Cruz hit a grand slam, you were laughing out loud and your mom was videoing. This was a great way to end the 11th inning and win the game. When you turned five months old in November, you were a little fat boy. You could stand, roll over, and you loved to play with your toes. You already had two teeth! That must have been some formula.... In December at six months old you weighed 20 lbs. and you were 27 1/2 inches in length. The doctor classified you as "advanced" due to your being so alert, standing, movement, etc. Then it was shot time. You go so upset, even to the point of losing your breath when crying.

All in all, you are one special baby. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to experience a good night's rest and just be a happy baby. Thank the Lord for the theme song to the "Lion King". When you are crying, all we have to do is start singing. I'm not sure if it's our poor singing or what it is. It always seems to get your attention and the crying stops! You really like it when your dad sings it and tries to hit the high notes. You are the highlight of our lives, and we couldn't love you more. Your Granddad and Meme look forward to the weekends when we get to see you. And then we have to share you with Uncle Rodney! I don't think you could have any better parents than your mom and dad. You are a high-maintenance little man, but they love and adore you.
