S: Jen & Josh
BC: The End
Hi- We're Jen and Josh. Thanks so much for giving us this opportunity to introduce ourselves and tell you about our family. We are grateful that you love your unborn child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her.
Jen | I’ve spent just about all my life in the Valley. I was born in 1973 in South Bend, Ind., but my parents moved to Phoenix when I was two. My parents have been married for 40 years and I have two younger sisters, Meredith and Jessica, who are now both married to men named Andy. I am very lucky to have a close relationship with my family and I especially enjoy the time I get to spend with my niece and nephew, Ellie and Zach. | Fun Facts: Height: 5'7" Hair Bolor: Brown Eye Color: Hazel Religion: Catholic Education: Arizona State University/Bachelors in Education and University of Phoenix/Masters in Curriculum and Instruction
I have been teaching junior high for what seems like eternity. I am very fortunate to work with great people and students who entertain me on a daily basis. I have taught both social studies and math (no groaning, math can be fun!). I also get the opportunity to coach as well. I am currently a cross-country coach, but I have also coached volleyball and cheerleading.
Josh | I was born in 1973 in Albany, NY, just a few hours north of New York City. My parents divorced when I was 5, so there was a lot of shuttling between houses for weekends and holidays. I was very fortunate to have my grandparents and uncle around a lot. I was an only child for the first 10 years of my life before I inherited a stepsister and a half-brother when my dad remarried. A few years after my mom remarried, I gained a new half-brother, Brandon, who I am very close to. | More on Me: Height: 5'11" Hair Color: Brown Eye color: Blue Religion: Catholic Education: Arizona State University/Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism
I have a dream job. I get to work in the sports industry and write. It took a long time to get to where I am, but I can't imagine doing anything else.
We met in a softball class at ASU. The coach told everyone to partner up for warm-up throwing and we grew to become very good friends. After graduating, Jen decided to move to Seattle, and Josh moved back to New York. Even though we were over 3000 miles apart, we kept in contact. Eventually we knew that our relationship was something more than just friends. After several years of trying to make a cross-country romance work. Josh decided that he would return to Arizona and move in with Jen. It was quite the experience to go from talking on the phone and dating only while on vacation to living together full time. But we enjoyed being close for a change and even got a cat, Buster. Lilly (our second cat) joined us when we bought our first house together. Four years after Josh had returned to Arizona we were married. | How We Met
We are lucky to be able to spend a lot of time with our families. Almost every week we get together with someone in the family for dinner, to go shopping, to see a movie or just to hang out together. We go to local sporting events when we can. Each year, we hit Disneyland in force with Josh’s brother, Brandon, Jen’s parents and sister’s family (including Zach and Ellie) for a few days of fun. | Our child will get to spend time with our family, as well. Jen will get to take off six weeks as our little one arrives, and she will have summers off as well as fall, winter and spring breaks. Our parents can't wait to shower affection on their new grandchild since they have offered to provide childcare when we do have to be away at work.
I’m not much of a collector. About the closest thing I have to a collection are snow globes from vacation spots we’ve visited. It is nice to have a little something to remind me of our vacations. My latest hobby is putting together our annual Thanksgiving party. So far the biggest feast was for 18 people, but I think we can make it even bigger! To offset this huge feast, I have started getting into Crossfit training. Most of the people I know are shocked by my enthusiasm, but it really is a lot of fun. | When I’m not watching horror movies or favorites like Star Wars, Jaws or Indiana Jones, I play centerfield in a Valley baseball league. I also can’t seem to shake my childhood interests of reading books and collecting action figures, comic books and baseball cards. I’m kind of into working out —as long as that workout enables me to play video games at the same time. | Our Interests | Jen | Josh
What I love most about Josh is how loving and caring he is to me, family and friends. He is a great listener and often surprises me with his thoughtfulness and sweet gestures (he knows my favorite flowers are tulips). He is a hard worker, but also knows how to enjoy his time away from work. Most importantly, he makes me laugh. Josh loves that his family is now in Arizona. Josh’s mom, brother and stepdad moved to Arizona a few years ago, and Josh is taking full advantage of the fact that they are nearby. We see them usually once a week for a family dinner out for pizza or Chinese food. Having his younger brother here really has made Josh happy. They hang out together playing video games, watching monster movies and just going places together. Josh is excited that Brandon is going to college in Arizona so he can still see him frequently. Josh’s dad and stepmom also bought a retirement home in the Valley. They are here about six months out of the year. Josh enjoys the fact that he can go golfing and spend time at the horse races with his dad. He also gets a kick being around my family. He looks forward to our annual family trip to Disneyland where he tries, but often fails, to get out of riding the teacups with Ellie and Zach (Josh hates the teacups). | Jen's Thoughts on Josh
I love traveling with Josh. We both love roller coasters, so it is great to have someone to ride with. Our honeymoon was spent in Hawaii. We had a wonderful adventure driving across country from New York in a U-Haul. Spending the 4th of July at Niagara Falls, visiting with my grandma in Indiana, crossing the Mississippi River and seeing the St. Louis Arch, and a fun filled night in Grants, New Mexico (not really that exciting). But my favorite trip with him was when we visited Ireland. He put together a great itinerary of activities and places to visit during our trip, we were never bored! I can't wait to see what he puts together for our first family trip with our baby. Josh is an amazing man and I know he is going to be a loving and devoted father. | Josh's Favorites Kids Book: Big Joe's Trailer Truck Color: Blue Food: Pizza Movie: Jaws/Star Wars Music: 80s Music
I kid Jen a lot about viewing life through rose-colored glasses with the sentiment of “rainbows and unicorns,” but Jen has an optimistic quality that transcends people and situations. She hopes for the best and anything less she brushes off with surprising ease. It's safe to say I wouldn't have gone to half the places I’ve visited if Jen didn't push us to go. We saw San Francisco for the first time together and drove a moving van from New York to Phoenix to finalize my (and my belongings’) departure from the east coast. On our trip to Ireland, Jen was a good sport to do most of the driving so I could shoot photos from the passenger seat. | Josh's Thoughts on Jen | Jen's Favorites Kids Book: The Elephant and the Bad Baby Color: Blue Food: Olives Movie: Drop Dead Gorgeous Music: 80's songs
Josh's Thoughts on Jen | Jen is also one of the most supportive people I’ve ever known. Whether it was with my decision to move back to Arizona or my job choices, she has always been encouraging when it comes to my life, my interests and my well-being. I’ve always been a bit envious of Jen growing up in stable home environment, so her family fascinates me with how well they all get along. Jen is extremely close with her large, extended family, so it's no surprise she spends so much time with them. Saturday mornings are usually relegated to hitting the local roller skating rink with her niece and nephew. There are also plenty of get-togethers for birthdays, anniversaries or even dinners at her parents’ house. She's always gone above and beyond when it came to making me feel like a part of her family and for that, I’ll always be grateful.

Some of Our Favorite Travels | Ireland | New York City
Hawaii | California | We hope to travel a lot as a family. With all of the school vacations teachers get, and Josh's flexible schedule, we will have some great opportunities to see the country and visit some fun places around the world.
The most important thing we can offer our child is unconditional love and support. There will never be a day that goes by that he or she will doubt our affection. We hope to give our child the opportunity to play, to travel, to have a great education and to experience great joys in life. We anxiously look forward to cleaning up scraped knees when learning to ride a bike, reading stories at bedtime, scaring away monsters in the closet, freaking out while learning to drive and taking thousands of pictures on the way out the door to Prom. | More than anything, we want to be parents, and we have plenty of room in our hearts to love, laugh with and challenge our child. We are willing to provide pictures and letters and are open to discussing visits if that is your desire. We thank you for taking the time to read our letter and we wish you the very best
