FC: California February 2011
Wednesday, February 9. We arrive at the airport in plenty of time thanks to Dad keeping us on schedule. First plane ride for Mitch (age 8), Macy (6) and Mark (3). Everyone does great! The temperature in Kansas is 5 degrees, but we leave our coats behind in the car. We won't need them in San Diego.
We land in San Diego and make it to the beach in time to see the sunset. Mitch, Macy and Mark are introduced to the awesomeness of the Pacific Ocean.
 Welcome TO California
Thursday, February 10. Time for some surfing lessons. No one would guess we are from Kansas. Mitch and Macy take right to the waves, but Mom and Dad have to be called in and lectured by the lifeguard. Mark prefers digging in the sand and chasing birds.
In the afternoon we do some seal watching at La Jolla Cove. Mitch and Macy take and pose for lots of pictures. We don't see many seals at home! | Mark is an enthusiastic rock climber, but gets a little sad after falling in a puddle.
 Friday, February 11. Legoland!
Legoland favorites: Rides. Lego statues. Making lego guys. Playing lego computer games.
Saturday, February 12. Family picnic and military air show at Shelter island.
Macy shoots some pictures of herself. Mark gets some running in. Mitch and Charlie play ball. Mark is so tired he falls asleep at the restaurant table at dinner.
At sunset Mom, Dad, Macy and Mark visit the rocky seaside preserve down the beach. Mitch opts to stay back and play catch with Granddaddy. Mark runs the entire way down and back alongside the ocean. He does not even slow down to chase birds.
Sunday, February 13. The attraction Macy has been waiting for: Seaworld. We see seals, sharks, dolphins, and Shamu the Killer Whale. And also some nasty aggressive fish stealing birds. We get soaked on a roller coaster while Mark and Gram take on Elmo's world. Granddaddy patiently waits with the stroller.
One more swim in the hot tub and walk along the beach, and it's time to head home to winter in Kansas. We'll miss you San Diego!
