S: Celebrating Christmas 2010
A carriage ride at the Avenue with Grandma was fun for us all! Steve and I put the lights on the tree after the kids went to bed. Samantha's response, "Whoa! Look at those PRETTY lights!" | Our Christmas celebration began over Thanksgiving break at the Fairgrounds. The synchronized lights were awesome and we LOVED the music! "It's called Christmas with a capital C!..." "I've got that JOY joy joy joy..."
Logan, Aunt Nette, and Uncle Greg arrived on the 17th. Annette and Logan stayed with us through the 22nd. We had a great time celebrating and playing together.
We celebrated Christmas in Dawsonville on the 18th. After a rousing time in the field, we had a traditional dinner. Highlights were the marble run, riding the gator and Samantha cooking asparagus casserole.
Our Ornaments: Steve- the Dollywood logo; Janet- the river behind the hotel in Gatlinburg; Andrew- A school bus; Samantha- Dora's backpack
We celebrated Christmas with Mom on the 19th. Just after lunch, we heard the doorbell ring... It was Santa! At our house! Sue, Alex, Jessica, and Emily came, too.
After everyone had a turn on Santa's lap, he decided he had just enough time to play Andrew's shooting game. Santa was a good shot! With a ring of reindeer bells, he left.
CANDY CANE HUNT!!! The backyard was turned into a candy cane forest! The hunters found over 270 candy canes!!!
After Aunt Nette and Logan left, we went to see the Christmas Canteen at the Aurora. After the show, we went to play on the decorations on the square. We pretended to deliver Santa's packages! Andrew even delivered empty boxes to the kids on the bad list! Samantha fed the reindeer lots of treats! The "big tree" sure was pretty!
Soup Night with Russ's yummy homemade vegetable beef soup and all his family began with a trip to Build-a-Bear with Aunt Patti and Michelle. Andrew made a Rudolph and Samantha made the rabbit named Happy, then Hoppy, then Tico :-).
Christmas Eve morning, we spread the reindeer food and put out the carrots for the reindeer. Andrew decided to line the carrots up in rows.
Christmas Eve is celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa's! We had fun opening the presents and playing, playing, playing! The Zhu Zhu pets were a bunch of fun!
Christmas Eve dinner is my favorite meal of the year! Asparagus and bean soup to start with and then fish and spaghetti along with potato pie! Yum! Mason and Andrew better watch out for Big Trav's arm!!
Christmas Day 2010: The first true white Christmas in Georgia in MANY years! After opening presents at home we headed to MawMaw's in Summerville. As we drove the snow came down harder and harder. We had no trouble until the final mountain. There was so much snow! It kept most of the family away but Andrew, Samantha, Steve, Brad, Dad, and Walker had a HUGE snowball fight! Dad would hand Samantha snowballs just to have her throw them right at him or me.
After Christmas, we visited Aunt Christy and Uncle Ben in Memphis. We had a great time at the Peabody Ducks, riding the trolley, at the children's museum, which had a real plane!, and playing Kinect.
We ended our Christmas celebration with a trip to see Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer at the Center for Puppetry Arts. The show was wonderful! It was exactly like the TV show with puppets. This Christmas season was full of so many blessings.
