Cleveland 2009 Volume 1 - Page Text Content

 Hayes

 Jan 13

 Hayden & David

New paint and light fixtures in the kitchen. Great job Casey!

 Mount Hood Oregon

The Three Sisters are three volcanic peaks in Oregon. The Sisters were named Faith, Hope, and Charity by early settlers

I did very well considering I went to another country all by myself. When we got to Narita, I overheard someone saying that they were heading on to Manila, so I latched on to that guy since I had no idea where to go! Once I arrived at the Manila airport I went to get a cab. I noticed someone with a sign saying Ascott Makati. I told the guy that I was going there and he asked if I was Geri. I always wanted to do that!

The plane ride to Narita was on an airbus. As you can see there was a screen on the back of each seat. Each seat had a remote control. You could choose from a list of movies to watch. Because the flight was so long I think I watched all of them! The seat next to me was empty so my flight was actually very enjoyable considering I was in the air for almost a day!

 Philippines January 2009

The hotel was very nice. I had a little kitchenette that came in handy. The mattress was like sleeping on a board, so that wasn't so great.

Getting to work wasn't too bad. We had to walk from the hotel which took about 15 minutes. Most of the walk was through malls which was weird. For such a poor country, there is plenty of shopping going on!!!

Every night on the way back to the hotel, kids would try to sell us flowers. They wouldn't stop following us Alan finally told the little boy to stop it. After that, if he us coming he would hide from Alan. Aaron stood behind a cop and the kids quickly went away.

The office was very nice. I made friends quickly and fell in love with the culture | "One of these people are not like the others, one of these people just doesn't belong...."

Lunch with Victor & Annette Que was very interesting. I am not very daring when it comes to food. I did try halo halo which is a dessert made with shaved ice, milk, kidney beans, garbanzo beans, and other very weird things. I stuck to American food after that.

Alan told the restaurant that he was Aaron's Dad, and it was his birthday. After dinner the employees came out and sang to Aaron. At least the food was good and we made some new friends.

We hopped on a Jeepney and headed out to see the city. After that we did a walking tour. At one point Darrin said "We don't want to go any farther. That is bad over there". We were just across the street from the bad place! We hitched a ride with the tricycle man. He was sure that we could all fit, but after a few miles, he pulled over and let us off. I was told that women rent babies and sit on the street to beg for money. It was very sad.

1-Mall walkway at night 2-My other favorite restaurant 3-Alan's new friends at Hard Rock 4-More mall 5-A purse I really wanted that looked better on Aaron 6-Alan carrying one of my many new bags 7-The biggest women's shoe section I have ever seen!

1-Chinese new year 2-More mall again 3-Philippine basketball players 4-Jeepney 5-Tony Roma's, my favorite restaurant 6-More mall yet again!

Duday took us dancing. She hired dancers to be our partners for the night. I tried it once, but didn't like it. The others had a much better time which was fun to watch.

 San Diego-February 2009

 My view from the hotel

 Lunch time!

 Anikah's tea party

"My turn, now my turn, now my turn......" "Whoa, what's that"

March 2009 | Despite all his surgeries, Jake still has time for a 6 pack!

Despite all his surgeries, Jake still has time for a 6 pack!

 San Antonio April 2009

 F I E S T A

Fiesta in San Antonio! We found a Mexican restaurant that sounded good and was in walking distance. We headed out, not realizing what Fiesta actually meant. There was wall to wall people! All along the streets people were lined up for a parade. The restaurant was right in the heart of the party. As we were walking, Amanda, Crystal and I got caught in the current and had to go with the flow. At one point, someone passed a stroller over the crowd to get out of the mainstream. With the baby still in it! By the time we got out of the current and back to the restaurant, they had already called our name. Luckily they still took us in. The room was dark and loud and very fun. We even had a Mariachi band play for our table. (For a cost of $30!) It was worth it and the night was perfect.

 Calgary May 2009

Things to do while your on a plane

 Fun with Dan & Amanda

 Things to see in Calgary

 Things to do in Calgary

How to cram something large into the backseat of your car

Good ol' boy Jeremy always there to lend a hand

 Heading to Winnipeg 5/28/09

Amanda told me to make sure everyone got through customs ok. As I went through the first line, I noticed Matt & Thomas in another room. I assumed that everyone went there next so that's what I did. I found out that that's the room where suspicious people get sent to. Duh. "Here I am! If I didn't look suspicious before, how about now!" Matt & I made it out of the little room, but Thomas didn't. I tried to get back to see what was going on, but this door was blocking my way. Finally a guard came out and told me that Thomas wasn't being detained,

We couldn't wait any longer for Thomas so we decided to head to the hotel. There were quite a few of us so when someone offered a limo for the same price as the cab, we were on it. Winnipeg is kind of ghetto. Really run down and scary actually. I don't ever want to live here.

 T

See no evil, speak no evil

Look what manly men can do

Woo hooEWw | Woo Hoo Rev 3! Party on dude!

Things to do in a cab

We went to a really nice Italian restaurant. I tried something new & it was pretty gross. When the waiter leaned over to pour her wine, Marilee went coochy coo to the waiter. That was great. We all had a wonderful time. Another fun finale to another great celebration .

 Chillin at the airport

 Heading home

It was storming so bad the birds were trying to get the hail out of here. Haha.
