At 9:00 Earth spasms in fear As a scream severs the night, Shredding the silence in its mechanized claws. Sparks hurl themselves against the sky. Metal expands and contracts, Pounding, pounding, pounding - Birds rocket from the undergrowth, Animals flee for their lives. Air is torn apart, the molecules Shoved by brute force. I sit at my window, Watching the rift heal, Watching the 9:00 train disappear into the darkness. All is still - At least for now.

Nighttime Listen. Can you hear? The humming past our hearing, The pulsing of the stars, The space between is leering, Holding light between bars. Black smoke seeps from this horror Through the bloodless white stars. It flits through the night, Between the bright-lit houses, No shadow as it flies; Its victims cannot cry. It only moves in darkness, And preys upon the weak, But anything it touches: Life will become but bleak. So guard your soul with all, For towards you it crawls.

Looking Out the Window I sit still, Feeling the pulse of the many around me, Experiencing the warmth, Enjoying the harmony. Beyond our enclave, A wind runs its fingers Through blades of grass, Lifting their chins, Softening their sense. It eases past the now-deserted pitch, To reach out and tousle The leaves of the trees. But is is drawn, Inevitably so. Towards the Endless blue sky, Borne on the breath of the sun.

The Roller Coaster Step into the light, Blinking, Just awoken. As if in a dream, Climbing slowly into the car, No time to think, There is only The drop. Everything plummets, Colors flash, Images blur, Nothing is certain As the world is flung around. A break, a plateau, And you may think you can rest, Are in control, And again it is gone. Climb to a dizzying height, And you see the world is beautiful. But nothing lasts, And down one more you plunge. Terrifying, Thrilling, Amazing - Just let yourself go, Just live in the moment.

Life The darkness approaches, Bringing silence and still, Lapping at the steps below my feet. As I feel the cold wash spread, The step digging at my spine, I realize it is near the end, And reality is drifting away: But a boat on the horizon. To look up again, I can no longer see The well worn wood steps, Littered with posters - Black rails, iron studded now block me below. And only now, at the close of my life I know. That life is a long walk, down the cliffs to the shore, And now I have come; I am here. Now the waves close above me, Now I look up in wonder - Where green light had filtered, Dancing moats of gold, Swirling through to me - It is all gone. And so am I.

Artwork A half-formed dreamland Ruptured by strange buildings, Their points rearing up. The constant movement Of the flaming sky Setting the shadows alight. Thick streaks, perhaps great rivers, Wash between temples, Carrying memories of lost times. The rivers thread quickly, Drying as they go, To come to an empty sea - A drought of imagination.

Passage of Time Quiet steps below The realm we always notice Come to light this day A tip-toeing step In the silence of moment Stumbles and is seen. And once a year it Stops, for us to celebrate The passage of time.

This Poetry Anthology This poetry anthology Is a way to express what you mean to me I want you to see, Through the freedom of my poetry. This poetry anthology, Though every thought of mine is not new, For it came from inspiration by you I would never want anyone else: who? This notion is but true: Without you it's only me. And I could never be Anything without you. So I thank you for your years Of tears and fears, Of yeses and nos, And generally raising me and watching growth, So I could write This poetry anthology.

For my daddy's 47th birthday with love . . . from your daughter, Kayenta
