FC: My Family History
1: My father, John Dennis Long, worked as an auditor for International Harvester in Europe. He met my mother, Charlotte Elsa Ehrhardt who worked for IH in the Hamburg office. They were married in 1933.
2: The top left photo is of Charlotte, her grandmother and her brother Bernard. The top right is Charlotte and her dog. The bottom photos are my grandfather Richard and my grandmother Elsa with cousin Ingrid.
3: My mother grew up with her four brothers: Richard, Fritz, Conrad and Bernard.
4: My mother and father lived in Europe. My sister Marion was born in 1934. I was born in Hamburg in 1939.
6: The top left photo of Charlotte and her father was taken in 1926. The photo of Charlotte was taken in 1938. The bottom photos are of Oma Elsa with Doris.

10: My father is on the left in the top photo. These pictures were taken in 1934.
11: These are our passport pictures, May 1942.
12: We came to the US on the Swedish liner Drottningholm in May of 1942. Arrival of the liner completed exchange of US and Axis nationals. | From the New York Journal -American Monday, June 1, 1942
13: Father, Marion and I at the railing of the Drottningholm. After arriving in New York, we joined family in Oak Park, Illinois. Father continued working for International Harvester at the main office on Michigan Avenue in Chicago.

21: We lived on the third floor at 338 South Kenilworth in Oak Park from 1942 until 1955. The picture of my friend Sandy Granzow and me was taken in front of the apartment in 1947. The picture with the bicycle was taken across the street on the playground of Emerson School. Our first car was a 1950 Chevrolet.
25: There are not very many pictures of my father's family. The one on the left is my father John, his mother Jennifer Long and his brother James. The picture above is of Uncle Jim and his wife Mary Smith Long, 1990.
