S: 5 years of London, 2007 - 2011
FC: Five years of great memories. 2007-2011 | London, England
For the first year, David and Shannon traveled to London to meet up with Mom and Dad part way through their vacation. After a night of regrouping on the Wharf, the next day included a trip to Dukes Hotel, famous for it's martini bar. | 2007
In our 4 days together, two of them included all day trips out to Wimbledon to catch some Tennis action. The first day was almost a true rain out. The ONLY day in five years we saw the rain at all! | The following night we dined at the Capitol Hotel. Despite having to pay for coffees (yes, seriously!) the meal lived up to it's 2 star Michelin rating!
Finally with some sun on our hands we enjoyed another full day at Wimbledon. As our last day, we made it a full one! Four days just weren't enough.... | Already planning the next year's trip, Shanny and Davey headed off on the Tube around 10 am, only to arrive back at the Hotel at midnight after being held up all day in a bomb threat.... alls well that ends well, we all arrived back home.......eventually!
2008 | Another great trip was upon us....after the long overnight flight, Shanny and Davey met up with Mom and Dad for a relaxing night at Canary Wharf.
We spent the first day at Wimbledon catching lots of great tennis... watching Nadal, Federer and of course Daniel Nestor!
Trying something new, we took a ride on the Thames Clipper. Our first stop was at the O2 for a look around...and for some Sushi!
We got off the Clipper at the Parliament buildings and headed to Dukes hotel with a martini or two in sight! It was becoming an annual event.
After another great day of Tennis at Wimbledon it was finally Canada Day! | We spent the day at Trafalgar Square celebrating amongst Canadians!
Later that night we had a fantastic dinner at Pied-a-Terre, a Michelin 1 rated restaurant. As to be expected, it was an amazing evening.
After catching a Matinee performance of Margueritte, we spent our last night at the Michelin 1 rated Rasoi. It was possibly one of the best meals we have ever had. We flew home the next day with another year of amazing memories...
2009 | With no rest for the weary, day 1 of our 2009 trip was spent at Wimbledon. Another sunny day in England....
After a leisurely stroll through London we caught the matinee of Jersey Boys. Incredible! Following this we headed straight to Dukes for our annual treat.....!
After Dukes we headed back to Canary Wharf for dinner. We ended up at Carluccio's and after a few more drinks somehow made our way home. The statues and planters we passed on the way home were never the same again.......
After such a big night it was amazing we could function the next day. But, like true warriors we spent the day at Harrod's. Our final night dinner at Ramsays was coming up, and was sure to be a highlight to another incredible trip! The Michelin 3 star restaurant ended our trip with pure delight.
2010.... and then there were five...... | 3 month old Andersen was glad to see Grandma and Gramps in London....
With a shorter trip this time around, we packed the days full. Not to be missed, our first stop was at Dukes!
We spent the night at the Wharf, still a bit jet lagged, enjoying La Tasca and Beer. Once again the weather was beautiful!
The next day we journeyed to Harrods for Andersen's first Oyster fest, followed by a wine and cheese party back in the hotel room. | With the Borrough Market on the agenda for the following day, it was smart to keep the night low key!
2010 came to a quick end, after an amazing night out at Roast. | The following day it was time to head home....
2011 Clearly First Class .... Baby! Not bad for a 15 month old.... | Jet lag aside, the Pace family enjoyed a great first day hanging out with Gramps and Grandma on the Wharf.
The next Day Shanny and Mom headed off to Wimbledon for the day leaving the boys to fend for themselves...
With Andersen safely back at the Hotel, the adults left for a night on the town. We started in the newly refurbished American bar, before enjoying dinner at the Savoy Grill. Despite their best efforts, Ramsay's Chateaubriand failed to impress, which gave us plenty of laughs as Dad taught the waiter several life lessons! We all agreed the night was fantastic!!!
The next day, Mom and Dad took in a Matinee while Davey and Shanny took Andy to a local petting zoo. We met up later that night for dinner. | We ate an incredible meal at J. Sheekey just off of Shaftesbury.
Once again we encountered nothing but sunny weather. For the next two days, we spent time wandering through Hyde Park, taking in Canada Day in Trafalgar Square and walking around the Wharf.
For our final "adult's night out", we ventured to Petrus. We enjoyed an incredible meal at the Michelin 1 rated restaurant.
On our last full day, Gramps and Davey headed off to Dukes, while Grandma, Andersen and Shanny hung around the Wharf... | Andersen was NOT ready for the night AND the trip to be over.... none of us were!
Thank you for all of the amazing memories over the past five years. Our times together in London have been incredible and will never be forgotten!
