She often talked about her need to stand on a chair to reach the cash register and counting and rolling the coins from the cash register. Janet always seemed to have what others would consider as unconventional pets - turtles, snakes, tree frogs, toads, alligators, ducks, and even a billy goat as well as the more conventional pets - cats, dogs, rabbits, and ponies. Janet attended Arsenal Technical High School and Thomas Carr Howe High School. She worked for RCA Consumer Electronics Division located in Indianapolis, Indiana from 1956 - 1969 in various positions including electronic technician & computer programmer. While she was employed with RCA and raising her eight children with her husband Ray she attended Mallory Technical Institute and IVY Tech in the evenings where she earned degrees in electronics and computer programming. Janet retired in 1992 after 25 years as a computer programmer/systems analyst at Indiana Bell/Ameritech Telephone Company. During her retirement she spent several years volunteering with the Indiana Transportation Museum as a coach attendant on many of the museums train excursions including the Indiana State Fair Train, Ghost Train, and Dinner Trains to restaurants located in Cicero and Atlanta Indiana. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, traveling by train, tending to her pets and numerous flower gardens, camping, fishing, hiking, and rock collecting, but until her failing heath interfered her favorite leisure activity was the people/friends she met and the time she spent involved with the Indiana Transportation Museum as a coach attendant on the Indiana State Fair Train. | Janet Anne Rudman Lee Webb
