8: from Rita..... As told to me from Joe, who was a Gunnery Instructor, about flight training in 1945 - "It was very clear as we went into our dive over the Atlantic Ocean. As you drop the heavy torpedo bomber it feels like a ton of bricks on your shoulders. Your ears, lungs, and throat are all affected by the pressure. Everything seemed normal until our altimeter reading kept dropping. It dropped below our pull out point - then it read zero and at 500 feet below seal level, we were able to pull out on our trim tabs. We never knew if it was faulty equipment or just another day in the Bermuda Triangle" Naval Air Training Center Ft Lauderdale, FLa.

13: Margaret Koehler & Edward Rutterer They were married June 18,1878 in St Jerome Church in Cinti. They are buried in Calvary Cemetery (Adeline's parents and Rita's grandparents) married June 18,1878 | They had 4 children: Edward Jr, Margaret (Golday), Adeline (Crotty), & Emma (Smith)
14: Our most treasured family heirlooms are our sweet family memories. | Catherine Bauman (from Strausberg France) & Joseph Rutterer born in 1820 (from Marsailles France). They came to the U.S. in 1847.They are buried in St Jos. Cemetery (parents of Edward Rutterer grandparents of Adeline great Grandparents of Rita)
15: home of Alexander and Adeline (Gerlach) Koehler originally from Klein Waldsstatt and Nuremberg Bavaria Germany parents of Margaret Koehler grandparents of Adeline | This home was on the hill where 275 crosses Rt 50. The farm and cornfields were on the riverside of Rt 50 some of the cornfields were sold to what is now Coney Island.
16: John Crotty born Sept 1,1834 & Julia Hogan Crotty born Nov 22,1848 He was from the South of Ireland and she from Akron Ohio They had 4 children: Edward Paul John Joseph, George They were the grandparents of Homer & Rita
17: William Crotty was born in the South of Ireland, April 1 1832, the son of Patrick and Mary (Ryan) Crotty and brother of John ((His father came to America in 1849, and located in Cincinnati where he died in 1851, his wife surviving him until 1876. They were the parents of 7 children: Julia,(James Bulger), Mary, William, John of Red Bank,(opposite page) Patrick of Camp Washington, Timothy and Matthew of California, Ohio)). William Crotty (EP's cousin) received his early education in his native land, and was 17 when his parents immigrated to America. When he grew to manhood he learned the blacksmith trade under Isaac Ferris, with whom he remained for 4 years. After working on Walnut Hills one year, he conducted business individually at California 8 years and in 1863 bought his present farm, near that village, where he has been engaged in raising fruits of all kinds. In 1863 he married Catherine, daughter of Dennis and Ellen Connelly, and they had 9 children: Patrick, Mary, Ellen,Nora,(next page) Hannah, Kate, James, William, and Thomas. Hannah is a teacher and James & WIlliam are students of St. Xavier College.
18: NORA CROTTY M.D. (cousin of EP) Dr Nora Crotty was a leading physician and broadminded welfare worker of Cincinnati Ohio, and was a feminine pioneer in a profession that was long closed to women, that of medicine. Her work stood out as exceptionally high quality because of the humane spirit by which she was inspired and because of her temperament, mentality, and training for her profession. She was born in Mt Washington, Dec. 4,1869, daughter of William and Kathryn (Connelly) Crotty. Her father, who was a farmer, died in 1910, a year later than his wife. She received her elementary schooling in Mt Washington and received her degree of Doctor of Medicine with the class of 1902 from Cincinnati College of Medicine and Surgery. Dr Crotty then pursued special lines of medical study in Vienna for 3 years. Her practice of general medicine began Jan 1, 1903. She was also a member of the Catholic Womens Assoc. and the Womens City Club. She inaugurated the work of teaching Social Hygiene in the public schools of Cincinnati. She was Vice President of the Good Samaritan Hospital staff.

20: Adeline | Adeline was born Dec 19, 1883 in Cincinnati. She was a book-keeper for her father at Rutterer Grocery store. She married EP Crotty June 10,1913 in St Stephen Church and although she was in her 30's she had taken extensive trips out west with her sisters. Later in life she liked to dabble in watercolors and help with the grandchildren. She lived with Joe & Rita in her later years and would invite the kids to her room to watch the Ed Sullivan show - but if they got out of hand she would kick them out and threaten them with a broom! She died May 9, 1972.
21: Homer Crotty | Homer Crotty worked for Chemical Warfare Service, Army Air Corps where he was the Food Production Manager, International Fruit Company and later worked for the Kroger Co. He joined DuBois in 1961 as a Research chemist and later for Quality Control. He developed cleaners and sanitizers used in the food sales areas. Homer had a BS degree with chemical and Physics major and was a member of the Ohio Environmental Health Assoc.and the INstitute of Food Technologists. He held 11 patents.

25: Joan Marie Hessler born March 7, 1931 went to Mt Healthy and Resurrection Elementary and Seton High School. She then went to work for the telephone company, Dunham Hospital,and St Francis Hospital until she retired at the age of 75!
26: Esther Marie Hessler born May 30,1911. She lived in Mt Healthy growing up and had her first child Joan when she was 20. She met her husband Ted in 1933 and they got married in 1934. They lived in North Fairmount until moving to Price Hill.
27: 1743 Gellenbeck Ave in Price Hill. The group picture is of what they would call "block rosary" where different neighbors would hold these sessions and pray the rosary together. Esther was also very active in making rosaries for the missionaries. | 1952

29: Albert Hessler born Nov 7 1882 and worked as a foreman machinist at American Tool Co. He died in 1956 | 1947 | "I lived with Grandpa Hessler until I was 11 when my Grandma Hessler died. He was more like a father to me and he was the kindest, nicest man I have ever met and made me feel more loved than any man I've ever known!" - from Joan

32: Sgt First class | Denny Snider was born January 23, 1929 and grew up in Owensville, Ohio. He went to Owensville Elementary and High School. He was in the Korean war and his rank was Sgt First Class. He went to draftsmen school and became a carpenter and worked for Cinti Card Co, & Messer & Sons until he retired in 1992

40: Michael Wayne Kuhr was born March 3, 1955 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He went to Cardinal Pacelli Elementary. Purcell High School, and Xavier University where he got a degree in Marketing
41: Mike was an assistant golf pro and worked at Summit HIlls Country Club until he began his life as an insurance salesman working for CNA. He worked there for 19 years and left to join Queen City Insurance (which later was sold to USI) in 1996. His passion has always been with golf his whole life and one of his dreams came true to join Coldstream Country Club in 2007!
42: Sue became an RN in 1977 and worked at St Francis Hospital. She then got to fulfill her dream to work in surgery and moved to Good Samaritan. She then did a brief time at Clermont Hospital before moving to Bethesda North where she worked for 30 plus years! She also had a love for crafts which she learned from her Gramma Naegele and always thought the best gifts were handmade! | Mike & Sue met in 1976 at a bar called the Lighthouse in Clifton. After graduating, Mike lived in Middletown for 6 months working at Weatherwax G.C. and moved to Florida for 6 months to work in Sun city, I worked at St Francis Hospital and Good Sam. Then Mike moved back to Cincy to work at Summit Hills CC and onto CNA. We became engaged Christmas Eve 1978 in Eden Park
44: Sue & Mike were married October 19,1979 at Resurrection Church and the reception was at Scheuler's Ballroom They went on a cruise for their Honeymoon.
