13: *Lady Jonet Douglas The Douglas family was not favored by King James V of Scotland. Jonet's brother, Archibald Douglas, Sixth Earl of Angus, was the king's step-father and Archibald imprisoned the young James. James' hatred for Archibald extended to his whole family, including Janet. James broke free of the Douglas family and began a career of accusing the family of treason and was accused of poisoning her husband in 1520 and later of planning to poison the king and of witchcraft against him, although it was clear the accusations were false. 19: Great Grandparents

21: Grandma Jo's Family Grandma Jo's family immigrated in the very early 1900's from the pre-World War 1 Austria-Hungarian empire, therefore very little information has been obtained about our lineage aside from what has been passed down through the generations. The city that my great-grandparents came from is Lascov in what is now Slovakia. The city is located in the north eastern region of Slovakia in the Carpathian Mountains near the Polish and Ukrainian borders. Grandma would often use Slovakian phrases ("gotchies" for underwear and "flasa pivo"for bottle of beer) and sing Slovak songs. She also cooked traditional Slovak foods like Kolache (rolled sweet dough with apricot or poppy seed filling) and Halupke (stuffed cabbage).

23: Great-Grandma Schuster and Great-Grandma Lampert and my parents wedding

25: Grandpa Frank and Grandma Alice were married soon after grandpa was called for service during the second world war. Before grandpa left to serve as an Army photographer in Europe, they took a short trip back home to Minnesota to see their families. Grandpa's father, George was up in Virginia, Minnesota where he immigrated to from Croatia. Grandpa's mother, Anna Hlohulek was born in Vienna, Austria on July 26 in either 1895 or 1896, but was of Czech decent. She died to a TB hospital around 1918 while George was serving in the military. Grandpa Frank lived with his mother in the TB hospital until her death when he was sent to live with relatives. He was an only child. Grandma Alice's family lived in New Ulm, Minnesota and were German immigrant farmers. Her father's name was Michael and her mother's name was Hermine Biebl, she was born in April 1887, most likely in Germany. Grandma Alice's family spoke German in their home when she was growing up and she would often speak in German to her sister when they were on the phone as adults so no one would understand them.
