7: Fort Jackson, SC 1953 | Our first home was a garage apartment (for $15 a month) next door to Mom & Dad. We had a tiny living area with 2 chairs, a small table with a two burner hot-plate and small fridge. There was a half-bath so we bathed at Mom's. September, 1955 | second-hand furniture from another soldier, and I made a kitchen table from a large cardboard box turned upside down & covered it with a cloth. I remember the first time I cooked spaghetti I used macaroni. Duh! Our famous chocolate pie is the recipe from a soldier friend that cooked at our house whenever he could.

11: I moved back to Moore's Park with Vicki. | When Joe returned home we moved into a duplex on Barringer Drive for a short time, then we moved into our first home awaiting the arrival of the next little Cathey | Hurricane Hazel came through Aberdeen and Joe had to return to the base, leaving me alone with Vicki.
