FC: Doyle & Kooker Family Photo History (four generations)

1: The Doyle family resided in Oconee County, in "up country" South Carolina. Pictured are Jasper (4-3-1852) and Ella Marshall Dendy Doyle a(2/6/1966-12-16-1952) and their children Oscar, Susan and Cary. Their first child, Simon, died at the age of 1 month. A fifth child, Ida Beth, was born in 1904 after this photo was made.

4: Hazel Moss Murphy (right) and her mother Laura Murphy (left). Hazel married Oscar Doyle on 10-12-1921 and became the mother of Francis Clay Doyle. They had four other children: Charles, Oscar Jr., Cary and Laura.

5: Francis Clay Doyle 9-19-1922 to 6-15-1993

6: Clay (Daddy) in Seminary (Richmond, Va) and on drums (Daytona Beach, Fla)

8: John H. Kooker 7/3/1844 - 10/9/1917 and Sarah Elizabeth Jones 7/7/1848 - 8/27/1888

9: John and Elizabeth had six children. Elizabeth died during the yellow fever epidemic in Jacksonville Florida when Roy (Papa) was about a year old. Pearl raised him as she was about 15 when her mother died. The family portrait includes Floy's husband Charles and their son Harry. | Individual portraits from top and clockwise (Hurd & Weir are not in family grouping): Thomas Hurd (1871-1931), Lizzie Floy (1877-1962), Hannah Pearl (1874-1967), John Weir (1879-1911), Minerva (1881-1964), Vincent Roy (1887-1967)

10: Georgia Gertrude Coffee (Dar) (1868-1962 pictured with her family) married William Walker Lemon, Jr. (1854-1925). They had three children, Gertrude (Grama) and John and William, not pictured. | Left: Gertrude 1891-1976 Right: Gertrude with her mother

11: Roy and Gertrude were married on April 2, 1914 They had three daughters: Gertrude Elizabeth (1917-1975) Marjorie Bell (1925-2007) Mary Floy (1929 & still living when this album was made) | Top picture: Gertrude with Margie, Mary and "Sister" (name used for Gertrude after Margie was born). 18: Some of our favorite vacation times growing up were at Grama's and Papa's house and their beach house. On this page are gatherings around their dining room table. Top picture shows Marshall, George and Carol with us. Bottom picture is Mom, Aunt Mary & Grama along with me, Susan, Becky, Helen and Carolyn.
