3: Like branches on a tree, our lives may grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one. | Charles and Rosalyn Married December 23rd 1944

4: The fall of 1940 I started nursing school. This was a two year program. Chuck went into the United States Marine Corps and I graduated nursing school in 1942 and got a job in Fairmont MN. | Chuck and I were set up on a blind date by his brother John in 1939. We went to a dance in Russell MN

5: In 1944 Chuck came home and we got married. After we got married he was in the service for about 16 months | Many of these pictures were sent back and forth when Chuck was deployed during WWII

6: Royce Herman our first son arrived on June 16, 1947. (RICK) | Charles Allen was born on April 29th, 1949 (CHUCK) | Dwight Emery was born March 4th, 1953

8: When you look at your life, the greatest happinesses are family happinesses. ~Joyce Brothers | Chuck, His Mother Ellen, his Grandma Erickson and Baby Rick. | Four Generations!

9: Great Grandma Erickson and all three of my boys. Grandma Erickson felt so blessed to be in a picture with her great Grandsons.

10: When the boys were young I worked park time or as needed as a nurse at the hospital in Tyler MN

11: Chuck worked on road construction with GA Olson construction Company out of Marshall Minnesota | We bought our house in Russell MN around 1950. Chuck was just a baby.

12: The day Chuck and I became parents our lives changed forever. We became a family and our journey had truly began. Rick, Chuck, and Dwight: I am so proud of you three and your dad was too.

14: Our most treasured family heirlooms are our sweet family memories. | Our anniversary dinner. The dress I wore was made from my wedding dress that I wore in 1944

16: All my boys were Boys Scouts. Chuck was Scout Master and I was the Den Mother. | Rick and Chuckie were Boy Scouts and little Dwight was a Cub Scout

17: Rick went into the United States Air Force right after graduating High School

18: My parents, Grandma and Grandpa Herman. We called both of them by my dads first name. As we did with Chucks parents too. Chucks parents were known in our home as Grandma and Grandpa Roy | After the boys graduated from High School, my parents moved in next door for about eight years Also is a picture of my mom on a motorcycle!

19: My three boys graduated from Russell High School. Chuck and Dwight married girls from Russell as well. Rick met his bride overseas while in the Air Force. | Royce | Charles | Dwight | Dwight and Paulette | Dwight, Paulette and LeeAnn | Dwight, Paulette and LeeAnn

21: September 16, 1972 | Rick and Marisa | Marissa joined our family in 1972. They got married in Spain where Marisa is from and Rick was stationed while in the Air Force

23: March 15, 1974 | Charles and LeeAnn | LeeAnn and her family moved in to the house next door to us when Chuck was in high school. Chuck was good friends with LeeAnn's older brother. After high school Chuck went to college in Granite Falls and then went into the Air Force. When he returned he and LeeAnne started dating.

24: April 20, 1974

25: Dwight and Paulette | I taught Paulette in Sunday School when she was a young girl. Both Paulette and Dwight were baptized and married in the Presbyterian Church in Russell. All my boys were home for this wedding, and we all got to meet Ricks bride Marisa.

26: Rick and Diana Chuck and Melissa | I remember the day Melissa was born, I was at the hospital and was able to give Melissa her very first bath. I got home and was sharing my joy with Grandpa Chuck when the phone rang. I answered the phone and it was Rick. He said "HI GRANDMA" and I thought, how in the world did he already find out Melissa was born, Rick was in Spain! Well, not only did I have one grand daughter, Diana was born too. This was one of the best memories I have and will cherish that day always. Melissa was born 36 hours before Diana. November 1974

37: A few of my favorite pictures of all my grandchildren together. Even though there was distance between us all, when we got together we all had fun!

38: Cheers to us, our life together and our beautiful family!

39: Chuck and I never officially retired but we enjoyed our "empty nest" and our grandchildren

40: Chuck and I made trips to Spain, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Texas to see both Rick and Dwight. Chuck ended up staying in Minnesota.

43: Rick's career kept him in the Air Force. Chuck graduated with his bachelors degree from Southwest State University and pursued his career in teaching. Dwight made a career with the United States Department of Agriculture | My boys had good jobs and beautiful healthy families... Chuck and I had everything we always wanted.

46: Grandpa Chuck died May of 1988. | Chuck always carried the American Flag for the Russell Memorial Day Services. He was a proud Marine! After the Memorial Day Service 1987, Chuck told me that this would be his last year, and those younger guys could carry the flag next year. At the time I thought "Yeah right!" Little did I know that the next Memorial Day we would be remembering him. Chucks funeral was the day before memorial day and the hardest day of my life.

47: Husband..... | Dad....... | Grandpa Chuck... | You’re not just a memory........ You're a spirit inside all of us | An angle whispered take my hand and come with me. Your work here is done.

48: Gods most precious gift of art is the warmth and love of family. I could not have asked for a better family. God is good.

49: Today, as I put together this book I am blessed to have my three sons, three daughter-in-laws, 5 granddaughters, one grandson, and seventeen great grandchildren. The next section of this book is dedicated to my grandchildren and their families. You all have made my life so richly blessed. To my grandchildren I was Grandma Zvorak, to my great grandchildren I am GRANDMA ROSIE!

61: About the Author | Rosalyn Pearl Zvorak (Dunteman) was born May 16th, 1922 in the family home located in Amiret, Minnesota. Her parents Herman and Laura (Sathoff) Dunteman farmed in Lyon County for many years. Rosalyn graduated from Tracy High School in 1940. She met her husband Charles Zvorak in 1939. After graduation Rosalyn attended a two year nursing program in Marshall, Minnesota. While still dating Charles, he left for the United States Marine Corp. After graduating nursing school, Rosalyn took a job in Fairmont, MN. When Charles returned from WWII, the couple was married. Rosalyn and Charles bought a house in Russell, Minnesota in the late 40's. The couple has three sons, Royce, Charles and Dwight. In 1988 Charles died at the age of 66. A few years after his death, Rosalyn sold the family house in Russell and moved to Cold Spring, Minnesota to be closer to her middle son. To date, Rosalyn is living in her apartment in Cold Spring and has enjoyed her new friends and community.
