FC: Our Family Book | 2 0 1 2
We are so excited for you to get to know our family through this book | Our Family
We hope you have the most | Dear Expectant Mother, | We are Baine and Rachel. We have one biological son named Cohen, and we live in a quiet neighborhood about 20 minutes from a large city and 5 minutes from miles of rural farmland. We have the best of both worlds. We are family oriented, outdoorsy people, who lead a pretty uneventful, but joyous life, filled with love. We hope that this book conveys our great delight in parenting, as well as our love of family and life. Above all else, we value God, love, family. friends, and learning . We know that this might not sound very exciting, but we are blessed enough to have something that I believe few other families truly possess: an overwhelming amount of love for and commitment to one another, within our immediate and our close knit extended family. Although we have all entered into the family in different ways, our love for each other is unwavering and deeply valuable to us all..We may lack extravagance, but we abound in love, faith and happiness,. In our family, adoption is not something new. Rachel, as well as Baine's mom, both have cousins who were adopted. Our nephew Noah is our sister in law's biological son, but Baine's brother plans to adopt him, and they have discussed plans to adopt internationally for number 3!. Rachel's cousin Adrienne, who is like her sister, shares the same problems with infertility that we do. Her and her fiancé plan to adopt once they are married. Although we have never been in your position, and I am sure that we cannot fully understand the situation that you now face, we would be so honored to have the chance to get to know you better, and to tell you that we think that you have made an amazing decision in choosing to give your baby life, whither you end up parenting, or making an adoption plan.
Rachel with our niece Sarah | We hope that this book helps you to get to know us a little better. We love each other so much and have so much love to share. We are both incredibly close to our brothers and sisters, and would love nothing more than to be able to give our current and future children the irreplaceable gift of each other through adoption. With all our hearts, Rachel and Baine
 March 15, 2012 | Baine
Baine | Baine is a chemical engineer who loves to garden, fish, cook and do woodworking. He is very outdoorsy and can fix just about anything. I always thought the phrase, "Love of my life," was corny, but he is it! He is the most honest man that I know. When I first became friends with Baine, I was attracted to his intelligence and integrity, but the more I got to know him, I realized that he is a really great person in just about every way. He has been my best friend since high school and we became sweet hearts in college. I first met him on the school bus when I was 8 years old. We dated for 4 years in college, and now we have been married for almost 7 years. Even though I always knew what a great guy Baine is, I never fully realized what a wonderful Dad he would be, until we had Cohen.. I am impressed daily by what a committed and loving father he is, and the way that he genuinely enjoys spending family time with us. He is easygoing, patient, caring, silly and adventurous. He loves being outside and showing Cohen and I how to appreciate the world around us. He maintains a fruit and vegetable garden year round, and enjoys spending time on our families' farms, fishing and exploring the woods across from our home with Cohen and whoever is interested enough to follow!

 Rachel | 2012
Rachel is a stay at home mom who loves writing, knitting, photography and most of all, being a mother. Although she has two degrees in writing and literary studies, Rachel has always told everyone how she wanted nothing more than to be a mom when she grew up. She says that idea never went over very well in her Feminist Theory classes, but she stuck to her guns and pursued her dreams of motherhood in the face of infertility. Although she still writes and does volunteer work in her free time, her main focus is on her job as a wife and a mother. Her love of children, and people in general, is obvious in everything that she does. She has such a kind heart. She is patient, loving and has an innate sense of caring for other people. She is always smiling or laughing, and you can tell that she is a person who loves life and God. She enjoys volunteering with our local Alzheimer's Association benefit each year, as well as writing grants for our local elementary school. We would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to become parents again. We believe that there is nothing more important than raising strong, happy, healthy children, and Rachel does such a great job of living this ideal every day. I feel so blessed that God has given me such a wonderful and cheerful person to spend my life with, and I cannot imagine a better mother.
