FC: GRANDT FAMILY MEMORIES 2009 BOOK ONE
BE PURPOSEFUL | On my drive to work each day, I pass a billboard that reads: It's an ad for a neighborhood college, but I don't remember the name. But the statement sticks with me. "Be Purposeful." The dictionary defines "purpose" as: purpose [pur-puhs] noun, –noun 1.the reason for which something exists or is done, made, used, etc. 2. an intended or desired result; end; aim; goal. 3. determination; resoluteness. 4. the subject in hand; the point at issue. 5. practical result, effect, or advantage The Bible says: "But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth." Exodus 9:16 NIV. This is what we hope for you: that you live a life of purpose. Everything you do and say shall be done on purpose, for a purpose, and with purpose. Be Purposeful.
 Jan. 20- Presidential Inauguration
Our Little Cowgirl! | Maggie received this bouncy horse as a Christmas present from all of her Smith aunts & uncles. She absolutely LOVED it. She would bounce up & down so hard that Daddy was worried she would give herself shaken baby syndrome!
Presidential Inauguration January 20 Jason and I were HUGE supporters of Barack Obama and were very excited he was elected. We both watched the inauguration at work. But Maggie was able to watch it at Nana's!
FIRST CEREAL | Maggie's | Maggie actually did very well with her first taste of rice cereal. We sat her in her bumbo seat and she ate a little bit. There wasn't any strange face, no questioning look of "What is this stuff?" She just ate it all up!
Maggie LOVES to play at the computer!
Joshua Michael Suelzle born Feb. 16 | 2/16 | Visiting Mike, Beth & Joshua Suelzle at the hospital
Growing so Fast... | Feb. 2009
Maggie's favorite toy right now is this mirror that makes sounds.
Purchasing an Heirloom... | When I was growing up, my grandmother had an old, wooden high-chair in her kitchen, painted a turquoise blue/green. All of the grandkids used it when we were small, and as great-grandchildren were born, so did they. I decided that I wanted something like that when I had children; something that would endure, be a part of our family history for generations. So, even though this was not the most economical choice, it was the perfect choice for us. We found this at an Amish furniture store in Elgin, Illinois. Cost about 250 dollars. February, 2009.

"What am I supposed to do with it?" She watched Dawn and Melody's son, Cody, dye their eggs - although they got more food coloring on themselves than the eggs! When we dyed eggs the next week with Aunt Jenna she knew what to do!
There are may traditions at Eastertime in the Grandt family, but the one that is the most unique is the annual decapitation of the lamb cake, followed by the consumption of his head and body. It has to be a Chicago thing! We invited Chad & Sherry Bolosan to join us as well. Maggie dyed eggs with Mommy and Aunt Jenna, managing to cover herself in green food coloring. 56: MEMORIAL DAY - Maggie loves fish and has since she was only a few months old. It was a rare day that both Jason and I were off of work and had no duties. We decided to take Maggie to the Shedd Aquarium downtown. It was a cold, rainy spring day. We bundled her up with her Babylegs, a jacket and her hat. The walk from the parking lot to the aquarium is a long one when the lake winds are whipping around you. Once inside, she loved it as much as we thought she would. And we learned that she would fall asleep in the backpack, and stay asleep! Not able to walk yet, she still was able to see the fish and other sea life. And smile. :-) | A Day at the Shedd
