(Jeremiah 17:7,8) Lots of love, siok min ................................................................................................ "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." 9: Family | My immediate funny memory of my sister, Tzu Min, is her impulsive indulgence in buying sweets when we were kids, from the Indian Shop next door to our Tropical Milk Bar on 8 Jalan Gelenggang. She would spend ALL her pocket money -- I mean all of it -- in 2 days, buying bags full of supplies, from the pocket money which father gave weekly. After spending all her money, so quickly, she would long for the next week's, swearing that she'll be more rational, the next time. Her favourites were "Picnic","Maltese" and "Kit-Kat," to name a few. Another aspect of Tzu Min which is commendable is her courage as an elder sister. While we were growing up as teenagers, her good friend Jong Lee introduced her to the Sembawang B-P Church. Tzu Min had a keen awareness to continue to attend the weekly Saturday Fellowship and the Sunday morning Service. She would fearlessly lead me and my other sister, Ya Yin, defying father's order, to secretly“escape”to church. I would always discourage the "kudeta” for fear of punishment. Without her courageous instinct, we might have lost out in fellowship with Christian brethren and end up in discotheques. I do wish Tzu Min ''Much of the Lord's goodness upon you, always." A word from the Lord to encourage us all: Ps 73:23 to 26. Love, Ai Min

text here | You are always a big sister type to me. When I was young I used to spend the school holidays staying at your Dad’s and grew up with you guys like true siblings. You are kind, generous and ever ready to give a compliment. Not pretentious and very personable in every way. I believe that you have the inner strength and kind character of your mom and the determination of your Dad. You also have the capacity to dispense unconditional love. In recent years I got to know you a bit better and able to get a glimpse of what drives you and things that worry you. You also show real concern for my ailing dad and the well being of my family. As we are all getting older, I believe you are one of those fine people who will keep on going for many years and be an asset to family and friends. Happy 60th Birthday Dear Cousin! Sincerely Chris | Dear Grand-Aunt Tzu-Min, Congratulations on turning 60! I'm wishing you many more to come! I am glad that I got to spend some time with you in Singapore! Love Ed | Dearest Tzumin, Thanks for being such an important part of my life! It's good to know I am loved by you. Do you know my love for reading comes from you and for that I am eternally grateful. Thank God for the past 60 years, for the up and down years, and for the good, bad and ugly years! Nothing He has brought to pass in your life is of no use to you, nor to us. Happy, Happy, Happy, Happy 60th Birthday to you, dear Sister! Keep going strong in your work, family and life! With much sisterly love, YY

Happy Birthday Mum, I really appreciate what you do for me even though sometimes it seems like I act indifferently, maybe because I'm just distracted by other things or don't have my priorities set straight. You do a lot for me and I should in turn spend more time with you. I know you love me through the little things you do - when you make breakfast for me sometimes or when you worry about me when I come home late. You're always there for me. At the heart of it, I know you are a person of godly character. You genuinely want to help people through your interactions with the kids who come to your clinic and through your chats with your close friends. You are firm in your stance - when you feel something isn't right, you make clear how things should be. Learning to listen to you and agree with you is sometimes hard for me but I know that you have a good reason for saying what you say and you have my best interest at heart. I love you, Zhong Ren

Dear Mummy, I thank God for granting us this time to live together again because it's given me a chance to know and appreciate you better. Thank you for always putting me above yourself and bearing with my faults. Thank you also for always taking the initiative to restore our relationship when things get rough. As I observe you I marvel at your endless supply of energy, your drive to accomplish 1001 things in a day, and never tiring of doing the best for your kids! I see the influence of your own mother, whom you dearly love and admire. May this be your offering of worship to God every day, as you put our lives in His trust. I'm glad that together we can recognize the hand of God in our lives guiding our path and providing for our every need..Your strong sense of justice and genuine compassion for others inspire me.. May you pursue Him further and deeper even as He prepares your best years ahead of you. love, suyin

Dear Mum, Thank you for all these years of your loving care and encouragement to me, Sufen, and Nathaniel. We thank God for using you to be a blessing to us. I pray that God will continue to guide you into a deeper relationship with Him as you demonstrate His love and show His glory through your works. Happy 60th Birthday! love, Stephen

Dear Mummy, I was once asked the question, during a road trip with friends, what are the 3 most important things your parents ever taught you? My quick response: to love God, appreciate people, and enjoy nature. After hearing other friends' responses, I thought maybe mine was too idealistic...had our family life been so noble? But it is true, in spite of all the missed opportunities, grievances, multiple shortcomings, and rebellion, that I have learned the most important things there are to learn, from you and papa. Thank you for sharing your zest for life and living things with us. Thank you for loving us deeply. There are many things I wish were different about our relationship in the past and present, but I am thankful that God covers us with His grace. More often are the moments nowadays when I am humbled and grateful for your gentleness, compassion, grace, perseverance, integrity, and humility. I thank God for you on your 60th birthday. | love, Sufen

Happy Birthday Po Po! | Nathaniel | xo

'Joyful, Joyful' - the hymn adapted from Beethoven's Ninth as well as Beethoven's Fifth Concerto always remind me of Mummy. ~ SS 62 | From you I acquired a leaning towards where quietness prevails... The respect that you have for things righteous has sharpened my own sense of not being careless about qualities of character that matter ... He has given us bounteous blessings, yet not abundance of the kind that doubtless fatten but leave the spirit lean I pray our table would be filled as well with fruits of the Spirit - much of peace, kindness, goodness we can offer to the tables of others | I'm very proud of my better half... ~SS 58 | dearest Tm,... I cherish all the times we had together, including the difficult ones. I'm looking forward to better times, and I also hope that our children will have much to cherish from the days of their youth. ~ SS 18 | It can easily sound like a cliché, the way that the word 'love' proliferates nowadays, but a strong awareness of being loved does something to one. And Victor Hugo (Les Miserable) put it so well: "The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are being loved." ~ SS 30
