 My Great-Grandma (middle)

We hold the memories of Catherine May Rider. A grat woman who always appreciated everything she had and the many people who loved her so much. We all keep her alive, though, through stories and pictures. Carry on the story and she will stay alive in our hearts and minds. Again, thank you to all who helped me in even the slightest. Let the journey continue!

John Virgel Luck John was born on farm in Indiana, 1962. He was the 2nd of 4 children. His father was a farmer and finished school in 8th grade. His mother finished school in 3rd grade. The parents made a promise that all of their children would finish high school and they all did. John went to college at Purdue University and received a PHD in biochemistry. He worked in food research at a brewery, the Armor Company, General Foods, Durkee Company, and retired as vice president and director of research at General Mills. While at General Mills, the CEO asked him to make some colored salt so the CEO could see how much he was putting on his food. John decided to flavor it as well so now we have butter and cheese flavored salt because of my great-grandfather.

John Luck after retirement After John retired, he moved to Savannah, Georgia. He and his wife Carolyn, became active with the Telfair art museum. John joined the board of directors and became the first "Yankee president" of the oldest public art museum in the south. He played a major role in junior achievement and also received a man of science award from Purdue University. He died suddenly in 2002 and is buried in Savannah's historic boneventure cemetery.

Kathryn Armstrong, Jessica Paulus (me), and Lauryn Rementer getting an award for a short story!

Family History is so fascinating, but yet very few people look into it. I am very fortunate to be one of the people studying this topic. SIP always brings wonderful things to study, but I think that this subject is my favorite. Talking to everyone has been wonderful. I have discovered many things I did not know and also documented some things I did. I hope you have enjoyed my book so far and will also love the pages to come. Let the wonderful journey continue!!!!!!
