...faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13) | Dear Parents, What great love you have expressed in considering adoption for your child! While we cannot imagine the range of emotions you must be going through at this time, we pray that whatever road you choose gives you faith and hope in a beautiful future for both you and your child. As you think about what that future might be like, please allow us to tell you a little bit about us, our life together, and our love. Hello, we are Ken and Laura. Our journey together began when we were still teenagers. We met on the tennis courts near Laura's house. After dating for 5 years, we decided to get married. It seemed evident to us, and to our family and friends, that God meant for us to be together. He has blessed us and our marriage in the most amazing ways. Earlier in our marriage, we assumed that we would start a family some day the "normal" way. After lots of soul searching, infertility tests, and lots of prayer, we feel that God is leading us to grow our family through the miracle of adoption. Please take a look at the family and home that God is preparing for that special child that we long to make our own. God Bless! Ken and Laura
After a chance meeting at the local tennis courts, we became friends and soon began dating. We spent five years getting to know each other better, finishing school, starting our careers, and falling in love. | OUR BEGINNINGS
We didn't think it was possible to love each other any more than we did on our wedding day, but we've learned over the years that love has no finite depth. It continues to deepen, grow, and evolve with time. (Sappy stuff, we know, but it's true!) | OUR WEDDING
MY HUSBAND KEN Every little girl dreams of some day meeting her Prince Charming. I not only met him, I married him. From the very start, Ken has had the innate ability to make me laugh and to make everything we do together fun. He’s always there to listen, to encourage me, to celebrate with me, and to help me through difficult times. It didn’t take me to long to realize he was a keeper! What you’ll find after you get to know Ken is his this amazing mixture of silliness, devotion, and strength. He’s usually right in the middle of things being goofy and making people laugh, especially with the kids in our lives. Ken is easy going and a free spirit. He doesn’t like to plan things, but somehow everything always turns out just right. Despite his great sense of humor, not everything is a joke to him. He takes his roles as husband, family member, friend, and mentor very seriously. He’s always there to give help and encouragement. His values are rock solid, black and white. He is an incredible example of Christ's love, and I am humbled that God chose him for me. Ken and I have a total case of role reversal. Ken’s degree was in Business, while mine was in Education. Turns out that Ken’s passion is working with kids, while I ended up loving the business world. Fortunately he’s been able to pursue his passion and now provides in home day care for our family members and friends. He also coaches both the boys' and the girls' tennis teams at our local high school and provides a summer tennis camp and private lessons. It seems that almost everywhere we go, whether it is church on Sunday or just the local grocery store, some teenager will come running up to talk to “Coach Ken”. Once God blesses us with a child, this kind of schedule provides the perfect opportunity for Ken to be a stay at home Dad, a role he is perfectly suited for, and he just can’t wait for!
I met Laura on the tennis court one summer day. Little did I know that the girl in a short tennis skirt would be my soul mate. I offered her my tennis coaching services in hope of getting to know her. From the first day, I could tell that Laura was a hard working, driven, and adventurous person. Laura is always up for anything, baseball games, hiking, and especially anything related to water. Laura loves to swim, boat and will even fish (just don't make her take the fish off the hook!) Laura's hard work and determination shows through in her work. She works from home as a sales rep. in the office furniture/interior design industry. She loves the challenge and creativity of her job, and the fact that she has such a flexible schedule. She's able to be there for such things as school programs for our nieces, nephews and one day, our child. Because Laura and I met as teenagers, we have grown up together. We are constantly learning from one another. Laura has a incredible relationship with God. She is always looking for ways to serve the Lord and share her faith. She is a member of our church's parish council, she sponsored her sister's husband when he became a member of the Church, taught a children's RCIA class, and is an inspiration for me to grow in my relationship with the Lord. I have enjoyed every step of the journey of our life life together and cannot wait see to Laura as a Mother. It is the role God made her for. | MY WIFE LAURA | I find it difficult to put my feelings for Laura into words, but I want you to get to know her. When I meet people, I introduce her as my better half, and I mean it. If she's gone, even just for the day, I miss her and am so excited to see her when she comes home.

Ken’s parents live about 20 minutes from us, still in the house that Ken grew up in. They’re still married after 46 years and have survived raising 4 children. Even though their kids are grown, they still love taking care of everybody. The real apple of their eye, though, is our 4 year old niece, Amanda. Ken’s Mom adores being a Grandma. She and her best friend (whom Amanda calls “Grandma Di”) have an innate ability to find any childrens' event, park, McDonald’s Playland, Princess toy, or adorable little girl’s dress in a 4 county area! Amanda’s charm also has a hold on Ken’s Dad. She is his little princess, and she can convince him to do just about anything for her. They can’t wait to be Grandparents again. Ken’s brother Mark, his sister Dawn, and the infamous Amanda, all live nearby. It's great to be able to get together for special occasions or just because it's Tuesday! Ken’s younger brother Steve lives in Florida. We don’t see him as much, but he tries to come home to visit Amanda and us (in that order) on holidays and as often as he can. We also stay in touch with phone calls and through the internet. He lives close to the coast and about 2 hours away from Disney, so it's always a special treat to go visit him. | KEN'S FAMILY
Family is very important to us, and Laura has an abundance of family! With her 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 26 first cousins, and their spouses and chiildren, there is never a lack of people to love and support us. Family gatherings tend to be filled with activity and lots of laughter. | LAURA'S FAMILY | Laura’s parents have been married for 42 years and live close by us in the house Dad built. They instilled in their children the core values of faith, family, education, and hard work. They have blessed us with their strong example of Christian love in marriage and parenting. | Our nephews and niece love to visit Grandma and Papa’s house because they have a huge fenced in yard. They also love that the neighbors have 2 ponies that like to be ridden whenever possible and an indoor swimming pool which they graciously share with our family. | Visiting aunts and uncles in Kentucky | Laura & Grandma | Papa reads Christmas story | Swimming at the neighbor's pool | Mom & Dad, Now and Then
Laura and her brothers and sisters are not only siblings, they are best friends. They have each other on speed dial and are quick to call or get together to share the little joys and challenges of life. While they all grew up in the same house, they each have distinctive personalities. Laura's sister Sarah (the tomboy), her husband and 2 boys, live on a farm in Michigan. Horsesback riding, boating, riding 4 wheelers, walking through the woods, or hand picking veggies for dinner right from the field always make it a special trip when we go for a visit. Julia (the teacher/soccer mom), her husband, and 2 boys, ages 9 and 4, live in our subdivision so we see them almost every day. We are constantly at each other's house, hanging out, borrowing stuff, and taking care of each other. Ken provides day care for the 4 year old and picks up the 9 year old from school every day. Jimmy (the musician) lives about an hour away. Although he works for a computer company, his real passion is performing. He has been playing in a band in high school and is still performing in his spare time. Laura’s youngest brother Dan (the free spirit), his wife, and their daughter age 7 and son age 2 live in Kentucky. Dan loves to debate, and he and Laura spend hours on the phone discussing current events and theological ideas.
OUR NIECES & NEPHEWS | Being an aunt and uncle is one of the greatest joys in our lives. Any activity is simply more fun with our nieces and nephews around. We love to babysit and to include the kids in almost all of our plans. They love to be silly with Uncle Ken and to create something new with Aunt Laura. They can't wait for another cousin to play with!
 FRIENDS FOREVER
We have 3 very spoiled pets. Charlie is our 9 year old yellow lab. Charlie thinks that every new dog he sees is his new best friend and every adult and child is a new person to adore him. He is a favorite with the kids in the neighborhood because he is so sweet and gentle. Our kitties, Minnie and Maggie are a bit more shy. They take awhile to warm up to new people, but look out when they do. They won't leave you alone until you cuddle with them! | OUR FURRY BABIES
This is our dream home. We picked this house because of the spacious kitchen and family room layout. It's great for families and for entertaining. We also have 4 bedrooms and a den for Laura's office. There's plenty of room for a growing family! | Our home is in a small farm town community with lots of young children. We chose this location because we wanted to live close to both of our families. We love the small town feel and the fact that we're still reasonably close to downtown Chicago. Our neighborhood has several parks, sports fields, a clubhouse with pool, sand volleyball court, and tennis court. We have a large backyard that seems even larger because there is lots of open space and a walking path behind us. | HOME SWEET HOME
Keeping God at the center of our lives keeps us, well, centered. Our faith is so much more than church on Sunday. By staying focused on God and His love for us, we remain in awe of His power, grateful for His many blessings, and comforted in difficult times. As Godparents for our nephew Noah and for our friends' son Nathan, we feel a sense of honor as well as a sense of responsibility. We love being able to share our faith and our experiences with them and look forward to doing the same with our own child. | ...as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. 20: Thank you for giving us the opportunity to tell you our story. We hope that in these pages you have found the type of family that you are dreaming of for your baby. If so, we want you to know that adoption to us doesn’t just mean adding the new life of a baby to our family, it also means adding you to our family. No matter how much or how little contact you plan to have with us and your child in the future, you will always hold a place as “family” in our hearts. We will let this child know how much you love him/her and how incredibly special you are to us for giving us the greatest gift one human can give to another. You are in our thoughts and prayers constantly. We know that God will guide you as you make choices for your future and the future of your child. If He leads you to us, we’ll be here waiting.
