 About The Authur

Selena Whitman is a writer in Oxford, Alabama. She enjoys writing, music and outdoor activities. When it comes to writing Selena likes to write about Mysteries, Nonfictions and Horrors. She finds the most challenging part of writing to be starting a book with no topic, making things up as you go or getting information. When Selena gets older, she hopes to go to College and study to be a nurse. Her advice for students that will be entering the 9th grade next year is to starting taking life serious because the last 4 years of school starts the beginning of your career. They could make or break you

I attended Gadsden State Community College for 4 years. As a graduation present my parents gave me 2,000 dollars. Gadsden state is a public open-door college. It Offers four- two years of college. Gadsden consist of a number of technical programs, certificate programs and even non- profit programs. | Education

Gadsden state had always been my school of preference. The school has multiple campuses, on line classes, study sessions and a variety of majors. Gadsden had many different extra curricular activities that I participated in. I majored in Health science to become and RN Nurse and eventually work my way into a Doctors position . I had many classmate, in fact over 10,000 people attended GSCC during my college years. I lived on campus in a one bedroom dorm. When I finally graduated the debt started rolling in but, I was lucky enough to have a job waiting on me in Panama City, Florida.

My Profession | I started working at Bay Medical Center the day after I graduated from college. In order to get my job I had to have a high school diploma, associate 's degree in nursing and a Bachelors Degree of science in nursing. I liked those classes, they made me realize I wanted to be a nurse because I like helping people. Now that I have the job it's not easy the duties and responsibilities of an RN are not always great. We as nurses have to administer medicine, change wound patches, gather the patients information and many more jobs.

As an Rn my starting salary is $139,990 yearly. The estimated income for cap. Is $21,583. Besides the money other things about my job that are good is that the job comes with medical benefits and opportunities for advancements are high. I plan to move up to a doctor one day so my salary will not be the same. If that doesn't work I want to be a forensic scientist.

Panama City | Panama is in Bay county which was great considering I had a job at the Bay Medical Center, not to mention its my favorite place in Florida. I chose Panama because to me its the best city in bay county. I love the beach Panamas not to far from Alabama but, it far. Panama is located southeast of the United States, northwest Florida. Panama overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, and is located 98 miles southwest of Tallahassee. Panama City is a part of Bay County which has sandy beaches and a lot of lakes. I know that sounds good but, its also downsides to living in Panama City, Florida. There are many different storms that happens like Tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis

With this crazy weather the temperature for each season varies Winter might have a low 40 or High 64. Spring might have a low 46 or high 79 Summer might have a low 75 or high 92 through the 100s. Fall might have a low 53 or high71. Panama is very rainy. The month of September is when they receive the most rain throughout the whole year. They have thunderstorms back to back. You would think this terrible weather would stop a lot of things from happening but, it doesn't Panama has an outstanding crime rate. The crime rate in Panama is high, as of 2012 The murder rate is 3, the burglary rate is 434, the theft rate is 1,743 and the auto theft rate is 130

Panama Economy | Although Panama has a large amount of unemployed people They also have many different jobs, one of the most common jobs is construction. Peoples first properties is one of Florida's largest companies. Other large companies include Bay Medical Center and Tyndall Air force Base. My place of work is Bay Medical center and it is very busy there. | Florida also has amazing cities like Cove, Millville, Cedar Grove. In these few cities there are many attractions such as Panama Canal, Gatun Lake, Bahai Temple, and san Jose Church. The population of Florida is 3,559,408 as of July 2013. Within the population there are 5,918 females and 5,896 males. The diversity also varies there are 4 different races in Panama City alone. Blacks make up 14% percent whites make 10 percent, Native Americans make 6 percent, and Mestizos make a whoping 70 percent. The Mestizos are the largest race in Florida. the unemployment rate is 9.90 percent.

I moved to an apartment complexed by the name of The Reserve at Northshore. It's nice and affordable.I chose this complex because it’s close to the hospital where I want to work. This apartment comes with many amenities and its not expensive. My rent is 715 dollars a month for a 1 bedroom, one bath, a kitchen, living and dinning room. The apartment came with a Refrigerator and a stove. some features and amenities that the apartment has are fitness centers , pools, spas, on-site laundry, car care center. there aren't many rules and the neighbors are nice. I bought cable, internet and I have a cell phone. | The Reserve at Northshore

First Month of living. | Moving in | The expenses for my apartment were more than I expected. I spent $1101.32 furnishing my home. When I got the apartment it came with a refrigerator and stove. My parents gave me a washer, dryer, and sectional couch. After Buying furniture for the other rooms I had $898.68 left to put back in my monthly budget. Then I had to buy groceries I spent $284 dollars on groceries and cleaning supplies. I bought a lot of TV dinners to save money but, I also bought a couple of meats and vegetables to cook. I bought bleach, laundry detergent, soap, and a couple of other things so I could keep my house clean.

After getting my house in order I had about 4,800 dollars left. I need transportation. I bought a used 2013 Dodge charger SE.I chose this car because it is the car I’ve always wanted. It’s comfortable, my style and goes with my budget. My car cost $18,995. I couldn't pay it of so I have a car note. The APR rate is 5%. I chose to pay my car of in 36 months because, it is affordable for me and the quicker I pay the less the interest. My Car note every month is $569.30. | My Car.

Personal Activities | After buying my car I had about 3 thousand dollars left. I put $2,000 in my savings account. I also set aside money for clothes, shoes, eating out, going to parties or to the movies. In total after all My expenses I saved $48.19 for pocket money.

I spent the most money on savings Savings I might need that for unexpected expenses so I thought it was smart to at least start my savings of with a good amount of money. I spent the least money on entertainment because I do not go out a lot I'm a homebody.I did not incur any unexpected expenses and I didn’t over spend.I got a refund from my graduation present. This refund really wouldn’t affect me next month if I paid in full for everything. I learned that things are more expensive when the money is coming out of my pocket. I didn’t expect for the taxes to be as high as they were. I think this project along with the “roadmap to success” project shows realities in the real world. | Budget
