Mary, Congratulations on your reaching your 50th Birthday! I have so many memories of you growing up. Dad and I were so proud of your many achievements and most of all the wonderful caring person you have become. You were a star from the beginning. Your determination was on display when you would climb out of your crib many times until you decided it was time to sleep. I loved your courage in heading off to Europe to work during University. Our recent trip to Ireland was made wonderful because of your planning and attention to detail, despite everyone's resistance! I hope the next phase of your life will be rewarding and challenging, and it will bring you and Steve much happiness and fulfillment. You are a wonderful daughter! I love you, Mom
Big Sis: Happy 50th Birthday! What can I say...it has been a lot of fun having you as a sister...from Calgary/ Saratoga/ TO/ Vancouver visits...to the trips taken together in Alaska and the DR...to the many great experiences shared due to your generosity (Grand Prix etc.). You have always been a super generous and supportive big sister! Your adventurous and positive spirit (I’m glad it’s raining, we won’t sunburn...really???) is truly infectious and you have been a super great influence on me and all those that you have encountered. I hope your next 50 years are lived as big and bold as your first! Love, Brian
Mary: My warmest wishes to you on your 50th Birthday! Your unwavering positivity, unrelenting optimism and overall fun loving attitude and zest for life is truly inspiring. I am grateful to have you as my sister-in-law and for the many good times we have shared. From the Grouse Grind, zip lining in Whistler to taking down the boys at badminton in the DR. It has been a great ride and I look forward to sharing many more fun adventures with you. May your next 50+ years be filled with love, health, happiness and oodles of belly laughs and may it bring you everything you hoped for and more. Love, Cathy xxx
Dear Mary, Remember all those good times we had! My we had plenty, Swimming going on walks, holidays, oh and definitely Ireland! But most importantly Birthdays!!! Speaking of which... HAPPY 50th MARY! | Love Delenn
Mary, when I think of you I think of: FUN and GOOD TIMES (with the odd sisterly fight thrown in!). The great memories include: going on holidays together (thanks for Ireland, that was a once in a lifetime experience!); lounging around the pool; enjoying good food, wine, tasty pool side drinks, tostitos and jube jubes; watching our husbands cook! (nice), more lounging; working out to compensate (not so nice), walking Tanner, Flash and Riley and of course outlet mall shopping (and copying your great fashion sense). Your home has been a 2nd home for Matt, Delenn, Flash and I. We could not feel more welcomed. | You have been a fantastic and loving aunt to Delenn. And you have been forever watchful over mom, Bill and Alice. Nothing speaks more highly of your wonderful qualities and character than that. You're all that a sister can be and much more! Here's to many more great times ahead! Love Always, Margo
I remember the first time I met Mary; she was wearing a bikini a bit more foxy than the one seen at the left. While the outward appearance was quite lovely there was little indication of the brilliance, generosity and sweetness inside. | Brilliance because as a business person she is inspiring and dedicated and with her incisive and disciplined mind has built an amazing career; one to be proud of. Generous because of the way she is with guests at her home and sweet because of her humor and love for her family, friends and pets. Mary; have the best birthday. You truly rock! Love always from your brother in law Matt
Happy 50th Mary! Thanks so much for all the great times at the house! You're an awesome big sis! I will always be grateful for your warmth and generosity. Cheers to many more good times.... Love Dan
Happy 50th Birthday Mary! We've had lots of adventures together - training for half marathons, hiking in the rockies, driving a convertible along the California coast, outlet mall shopping and smoking cigars in Peurto Rico. And more recently our trip to Ireland - and I thought I was a "Type A" when it came to travelling. Many laughs and lots of fun over the years - pink sweaters from Greece and who knew sharing a room could be so scary!!
And now with Fitton and Jack having a fabulous family weekend getaway so close - Yes Etobicoke!! | You are a great sister, sister-in-law and Auntie. Looking forward to the next 50 years. Love Karen, Fitton and Jack | Nice Shooting!
Dear Auntie Mary, happy birthday i mis you you are kind i love you Love, Evelyne xoxo
Dear Mary, You are beautiful, smart and compassionate. I am privileged to have you as a sister in law. Wishing you the most wonderful birthday ever filled with health and happiness. Love Jean
Dear Mary, Can you pass the butter? Seriously, Happy 50th Birthday. I have been really fortunate to have a great "big" sister like you. You have always been caring, supportive and helping providing great council during my life. Opening your home and life to Jean and Evelyne is something I will never truly be able to express my gratitude for. I especially appreciated the hourly, detailed, military style updates you provided the first weekend you took care of Evelyne - legendary! Mary, thank you for being a wonderful big sister. I look forward to many more years of "hanging at your place", "skyping", and hearing great stories of your life and travels with Steve. Love, John
Happy 50th Mary!!!!! | Your sense of adventure, humour, optimism and generous heart are surely what keeps you looking so young! Your ability to create special moments and to make everyone around you feel welcome and at ease are some of your qualities I admire the most. Looking forward to sharing many more memories with you and your family. Je te souhaite bonheur, sante, amour et une vie d'abondance! Gigi xoxo
Dear Mary, Sitting on a plane again, thinking about how lucky I am to have found the love of my life 26 years ago. Where to start. Simply the reasons I fell in love with you have held true, and gotten more profound over the years. Your honesty, caring and compassion are wonderful traits that I learn from everyday. Likely your strongest trait, the one that you have had to work on the most: patience. I know who I am and truly love you for loving me. There is that fabulous McCarthy determination, commitment and work ethic. God bless your Mother and Father for the Family that does not understand the term lack of commitment. I will always remember the caring, love and patience you demonstrated the night Dan banged on the door at 3:00 AM! Oh well everyone is allowed one small oops. The courage to change careers, a thought that terrified me but you were all in, and what a great well thought out decision it was. Unknown to us at the time it allowed us to live in Saratoga Springs. What great memories.
Your determination and commitment to physio therapy and fighting through the pain of your elbow accident. Dragging five pound weights in the car and on to airplanes, constantly working your arm and never complaining. Again that commitment trait, when so many others would have chucked the work. Not you. The result: it was a complete success, you could not throw a snow ball before the accident, and still can't! I will be forever safe if you start tossing dishes in your post 50 years. Life will record we started in a very humble fashion in a basement apartment that you made a home, and have done so again and again, 10 times at last count, over 4 locations. Each time I came home and said, do you want to move, because I had a great opportunity, you never said no, or more selfishly "what about my career". You always listened, and we always sorted it over a glass of wine. | You have created homes that have given us a life time of wonderful memories of time spent with Family and dearest friends. Designing the glass house in Calgary. I can hear Louis say "I have never built a house like this". Saratoga and discovering the Outlet Mall, and the girls finding Nine West. I still have nightmares over shoe boxes. Vancouver is likely your best work yet. You found that town house and prettied it up and made me like it.
Who knows maybe one more move, one more home! The other benefit of Vancouver, was I discovered Brian could get in more trouble than me, which I will always be grateful for. I will always be in your debt for the love and caring you gave Alice and continue to give Bill. As an only child only you and Tanner could put me in solid third spot with Alice everyday. They love you like a daughter. I will speak for the two little knuckle heads that have been part of and remain part of our life (no not Gigi and Dan), Tanner and Riley. | Those great McCarthy Momma genes come out in full force whether explaining away a slight indiscretion, or protecting them from harms way. I still think of the poor woman who's dog jumped Tanner on New Year's day. Hopefully the rest of her year got better. I always heard when you fall in love, you get the Family as well.
Well I got way more than any one person deserves. Starting at the top of the house with Mom and how she not only accepted me but welcomed me in to her Family. On through your Sisters and Brothers and their wonderful partners, and our lovely nieces and nephew. Falling in love with you came with benefits. I could keep going on, but I am starting to sense the guy beside me is quite worried about the tears coming down my cheeks. It goes without saying, my life is wonderful with you in it. As has been said "don't blink life goes faster than you think". On our second half. Love Steve XX
