118: Dear Mom, Thank you for all the times you put my needs and happiness before your own. Thank you for all the times you listened to me without judging. Thank you for all the times you could have said “I told you so”, but didn’t. Thank you for accepting me as I am even though I didn’t always make the right decisions. Thank you for helping me to raise my own kids. Thank you for dropping everything and coming to my house those times I really needed someone to talk to. Thank you for teaching me to cook and clean. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Thank you for all the shopping trips. Thank you for making every holiday of my life fun and memorable. Thank you for the thousands of delicious meals you cooked. Thank you for showing us, not telling us, how important family is. I could go on and on and literally thank you for thousands, if not millions, of things. But most of all I want to thank you for being my mom and for always being there for me no matter what. I love you very much! Edith

136: Dear Mom, If I had to choose one person in my life who has influenced me the most, it would be you, without hesitation. Growing up, I never knew anything bad was going on around me. You protected us, you provided for us and you made us feel as if we were the luckiest kids alive...because we were. I grew up thinking that we were wealthy because you never let us want for anything. You are the best mother that anyone could ever ask for. I hope that in my life, I have become or will become even half of the person that you are. Happy Mother's Day Mom....you deserve the world! I love you!!!! Lisa

148: Brittany Honore | My earliest memory of Grandma Gladys is from an afternoon at her house where I picked a flower from a planter on her porch and she yelled at me. It seems like this was a common encounter for her grandchildren-- not so much for the great-grandchildren who can do no wrong. When I was little I always loved Friday night sleep overs with Grandma, when she'd take me shopping and out to eat and buy me Barbies and clothes. I like to think I returned the favor by cleaning her toilets and picking strawberries for her in the garden. :) Over the years, I have come to be more like my Grandma than I ever thought I would be. As I grew up, I started to love cooking-- especially for other people. I have her same preferences when it comes to neatness, which I think is definitely a good quality to inherit. I have also begun to yawn like this: huh huh HUH huh huh...., and when I bend over or pick things up I say, "uhhhhhhh." Slowly I am turning into Grandma Gladys. I can think of much worse things. Happy Mother's Day, Grandma. I miss you and love you and can't wait to see you again! Love, Brittany

154: Aunt Ceil (aka: Mom), "For catching me when I fell, For being there through thick and thin, For believing in me, For making me stand my ground, For listening to me, For hearing my thoughts, For knowing me inside out, For never putting me down, For forever trying to lift my spirits, For defending me so often, Thank you and I LOVE YOU!" | Barbara (your other daughter)
155: Your 4-legged children (aka -" those durn dogs" | Dear Mom, Woof, woof, woof, woof and woof so much. Licks and Nibbles, Buttons and Chance

158: Some of Our Favorite "Mom-isms" "Not Now No!" "I'm gonna half-kill you!" "They say....." (who's they?) "Work, work, work - that's all I do. (sigh)" "You girls are going to make me have a nervous breakdown." "Ka-San-E-Lisa - Whoever you are!" "Sit down and be quiet!" "Go to sleep, we'll be there when you wake up." In the summer - "A clean room stays cooler." In the winter - "A clean room stays warmer."

203: Without You Mom, without you, there would be no us. Your love, your attention, your guidance, have made us who we are. Without you, we would be lost, wandering aimlessly, without direction or purpose. You showed us the way to serve, to accomplish, to persevere. Without you, there would be an empty space we could never fill, no matter how we tried. Instead, because of you, we have joy, contentment, satisfaction and peace. Thank you, mom. We have always loved you and we always will. Love, Kathy, Sandra, Edith, and Lisa
