BC: The End

FC: Our first vacation to NC. July 2-8, 2012 | North Carolina

1: Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. CathyAllen

2: We flew into Charlotte, NC late on July 2. Aunt Carey picked us up from the airport and took us to her house on beautiful Lake Norman.

7: This was his first time ever trying to ski.

9: Mick wanted "crackers" and fist bumps.

13: Steven grilled yummy steaks for the family.

14: We drove from Lake Norman, to Lake Waccamaw on the 4th of July.

19: Waiting for the Fireworks to begin on Lake Waccamaw.

27: Lake Waccamaw still and silent after the firework show.

28: Aunt Wanda was a fantastic chauffeur and drove Steven and I all around Hallsboro, Waccamaw, and Whiteville on the 5th; while Grandmother and Granddaddy attended a funeral.

29: We visited the Graves of Great Grandmother and Granddaddy, Great Uncle David and Great Aunt Blanchie.

31: Love the moss covered trees in Lake Waccamaw State Park.

32: See you later Alligator.....

34: After seeing the old Homestead and Station, we returned to lake Waccamaw to "gator hunt" in the canals. We then picked up the Grandparents and drove to Wilmington for dinner. We saw Aunt Wanda's new condo, the bridge over the port, the Coast Guard boat "Diligence", and Kohl's in Wilmington. We had dinner at the Golden Corral so that Steven could experience it. We also went on a hunt for "man eating" plants....

36: Venus Fly Trap

37: Pitcher Plants

39: Pitcher Plants and the Venus Fly Trap are native to this area. It is amazing to see them growing naturally in the wild.

40: On July 6th we drove to all the beach places where I remember playing in my childhood. We started at Southport, and then continued on to Holden Beach and Calabash.

41: Due to time constraints we only spent a little time at each location, but it was long enough for Steven to see what I had been trying to explain for years!

46: We stopped for ice cream at The Scoop. Shh... don't tell grandma that we had dessert before dinner!

47: On the morning of the 7th we enjoyed our last day at Lake Waccamaw and went tubing with Ben and Becca

52: Face-plant!

54: All things grow better with love.

56: A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.
