Lake Waccamaw still and silent after the firework show.
Aunt Wanda was a fantastic chauffeur and drove Steven and I all around Hallsboro, Waccamaw, and Whiteville on the 5th; while Grandmother and Granddaddy attended a funeral.
We visited the Graves of Great Grandmother and Granddaddy, Great Uncle David and Great Aunt Blanchie.

After seeing the old Homestead and Station, we returned to lake Waccamaw to "gator hunt" in the canals. We then picked up the Grandparents and drove to Wilmington for dinner. We saw Aunt Wanda's new condo, the bridge over the port, the Coast Guard boat "Diligence", and Kohl's in Wilmington. We had dinner at the Golden Corral so that Steven could experience it. We also went on a hunt for "man eating" plants....
 Venus Fly Trap
 Pitcher Plants
Pitcher Plants and the Venus Fly Trap are native to this area. It is amazing to see them growing naturally in the wild.
On July 6th we drove to all the beach places where I remember playing in my childhood. We started at Southport, and then continued on to Holden Beach and Calabash.
Due to time constraints we only spent a little time at each location, but it was long enough for Steven to see what I had been trying to explain for years!
 Southport, NC
Fiddler Crabs and beach house pier on Intercostal Waterway
 Holden Beach
We stopped for ice cream at The Scoop. Shh... don't tell grandma that we had dessert before dinner!
On the morning of the 7th we enjoyed our last day at Lake Waccamaw and went tubing with Ben and Becca
All things grow better with love.
A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.
