 A letter to You | About Chad | About Lesley | Us as a couple | Our Wedding | Lesley's Family | Chad's Family | Nieces & Nephews | Our Home | Favorite Memories | Friends

Hi there! First of all thank you so much for taking a few moments to learn a little more about who we are as a couple! We can’t imagine what is running through your mind right now but we hope you are doing well. We are Chad and Lesley! We met in 2004 and it was love at first site, that may seems unrealistic but we knew that we were meant to be together from day one. After 2 years of dating we got engaged and then 14 months later got married. We have a strong, trusting relationship and more importantly we truly are best friends. We both work for the same company and have worked hard to get to where we are in life. In 2005 we built a house in a very diverse neighborhood with room to grow our family, this past summer we added a pool. Chad is very handy and has done a lot of projects around the house to make it “our” home. Lesley is the creative one who comes up with these projects for Chad. Our house is the hang out spot for family and friends to get together. At Christmas we have both sides of our family over for a big dinner and then its present time With 8 nieces and nephews there is never a dull moment! We look forward to having company most weekends from family and friends to co-workers. We have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into our home to make it a safe and loving place where we want to be. We belong to a large church that is about 15 minutes away from our house and have been members since 2007. Our church has so many activities and ministries for every age group; Lesley has been active in several ministries such as choir, student ministry, Sunday school, women’s ministry and preschool ministry. Chad has been involved with many behind the scene activities, usually wherever Lesley tells him to help. Our families are so different but blend so well, Chad is the only child of a hard working father who was a police office for 40+ years and a mother who was a hairdresser for 40+ years. Both of Chad’s parents are retired and very active in their hobbies. Chad’s family is pretty laid back but they love to laugh and considering there aren’t many of them they are very close. Lesley’s family is a little different; she is the youngest of 3 girls. Lesley’s parents worked very hard to give the girls a great life, her father retired from the Air Force and has worked in the transportation field for 20+ years, her mother was a secretary for 20+ years; both of her parents will retire in June 2013. There are 8 nieces and nephews, aging from 8-16 years old. When our families get together it’s always a great time. Lesley likes to stay busy; she is definitely the planner and social coordinator in the relationship. She loves being crafty, whether by scrapbooking, making cards or looking for exciting new decorating ideas for our home. This is something she looks forward to doing with her children. Lesley has her daddy’s rhythm, she loves to dance and sing! As a child and into early adulthood she danced on school dance teams and even made a professional sport’s dance team in St. Louis. Another passion she has is photography, having started a business back in 2009 which has been very enjoyable and given both of us the opportunity to meet a lot of new people. She is able to be creative from behind the camera and truly enjoys capturing her client’s natural emotions and expressions. Chad is a go-with-the-flow kind of person; he is intelligent and athletic. You throw any kind of ball at him and he can play that sport, as a kid he played soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis, bowling, hockey, and volleyball. He is still very active in outdoor activities like camping and fishing and loves playing volleyball, which is his favorite and has continued playing on adult leagues for the last 15 years. He looks forward to

playing catch with his children or possibly being a coach of their teams. He has, as of late, surprised both of us, with how handy he is around the house. He recently put in some custom made shelving in our family room; he loves building things and working with my hands and can’t wait to teach his kids how to be handy. We knew before we were married that we wanted to have children, we were certain that we would have a ‘honeymoon baby’, that was not the case unfortunately. We tried to get pregnant for a year before seeing any specialists, we met with a few doctors, tried different procedures, and pretty much tried everything we could to get pregnant. We did get pregnant a couple times but for some reason we miscarried. We have thought of adopting a child for some time because it is an important part of our family. Lesley’s mother is adopted and so is one of our nieces, it is spoken about so openly in our family and isn’t something that is intimidating to us, it just seems like a natural thing to us. We want to be parents so badly and we know we have a lot of love to give! We have talked, prayed, and spoken to other people who have been through adoptions on all sides (birth mothers, adults who were adopted and adoptive parents.) We have read up on so many adoption stories but what it really comes down to is this: what feels comfortable to both of us, the parents having to make a very difficult decision and Lesley & Chad. We can’t sit here and say we know what you are going through at all, we will never know the feelings, thoughts and fears that you have. What we can do is pray for you and your baby, that you are well and that you make a sound decision. To be honest, when we first started talking about adoption, we said we would only do a closed adoption; that was out of fear. After meeting other people who have gone through this on both sides, we have decided that for us an open adoption would be the best decision for our future and the child’s future. Our thoughts of an open adoption start out as simple as meeting you and getting to know you as a person, we would love to be a part of your pregnancy, we would even like to be at the hospital. We want to stay connected with you as much as you want to be connected. Letters, pictures and updates on the child throughout the year would be wonderful; we are even open to visits! These are things that we are open to however the ultimate decision is yours, we just want child to understand where he or she comes from and want them to know that you play a role in their life if you choose to. Well that’s a little bit about us, good or bad, it is the real us. We are very confident in the decision that we have made about adoption, we know that God has a plan for all of us but it is in His timing, not ours. We really hope to meet you and look forward to the opportunity of getting to know you more. We are already praying for you and your baby! Sincerely, Chad & Lesley

Chad is one of the sweetest guys you could ever meet. When I first met him, instantly I felt that I could trust my life with him. I could describe him as my big ol’ teddy bear. Chad is an only child but he is not the ‘typical only child’, he is the most caring person I have ever known. When Chad came into my family, our nieces and nephews just flocked to him. We refer to him as ‘jungle-Chad’, because the kids are always hanging on him. When our youngest niece was born 8 years ago, you would have thought he was the father; he was such a proud uncle to hold our sweet niece Hannah for the first time. Chad was raised by hard working parents. His mother, Mary, was a hairdresser for 40+ years and his father, Chuck, was a police officer for 44 years. While his parents worked hard to make sure he had everything he needed, his grandparents were the ‘second’ set of parents. Chad had such a wonderful relationship with his grandpa and he taught Chad so much about life. I would say Chad had a great up bringing and was taught great morals. Chad is such a trustworthy person. He would do anything for anyone. He has been my rock through so many situations. He has been there not only for me, but my family and friends. He is so handy and has made our house such a warm home. I believe Chad will be such a wonderful father with his sweet and loving personality, and his ‘need’ to take care of the people closest to him. Chad has such a love for animals, dogs specifically. We have 3 dogs that are spoiled rotten. Chad just has a heart for animals and I think that speaks volumes for who he is. Thanks ~ Lesley

Let me introduce you to my wife and best friend in the world, Lesley. She has the biggest heart of anyone you’ll ever meet and would do just about anything for anyone. She is known as the “cool” aunt and all of our nieces and nephews love spending time with her. Lesley is the type of person that can be counted on when things get tough, she never turns her back on family or friends and is dependable and trustworthy. Lesley’s parents are incredible people, they just celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary and are both getting ready to retire. Kathy works for a local college and Hugh is the director of transportation for a local school district, he’s also retired Air Force. They taught her the value of putting in an honest days work and that family always comes first. She taught me how to say I love you to my family and how to give hugs and kisses when we’re together, something that was very foreign to me prior to meeting her. Lesley is a very dedicated and hard working person, she always strives to make herself better and is always up for a challenge. Her ability to persevere in the midst of difficult times continues to amaze me. Lesley is someone that I would trust my life with, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect person to spend my life. She also has a love for animals, they say that animals can’t really smile but if you saw the look the dogs get when mom’s home I think you would believe that they actually do. Thanks ~ Chad

H O W W E M E T | In May 2004, Lesley was attending a training class for work and Chad was the technical support for the week. After glances across the room and flirty conversations throughout the week, Chad asked Lesley out for dinner. If was truly love at first sight. | Our relationship was like most relationships, we had our ups and downs. More ups than downs. We both came from 'not-so-good' relationships, so we were finding ourselves and growing up together. We love to laugh! | OUR RELATIONSHIP

O U R F I R S T DATE | We met for dinner at a quaint restaurant in West County. We sat there talking for, what seemed, like hours. We shared stories about our life. The conversation was so easy and felt like we had known each other for years. That was the first night of the rest of our lives... | After our 2 year anniversary, Chad took Lesley to 'look' at rings and of course she found 'the ring'. A couple days later Lesley told Chad that he should go and ask her father's permission to marry her and then go buy the ring. Chad left for a few hours and then called and said he had bad news and good news. Good news, her father said 'yes', bad news someone bought that ring earlier that day. Even though her heart was set on that ring, she told him that, that was OK. When Chad got home, he came in right in the middle of the end of the show 'The Bachelor' (one of Lesley's favorite shows) and when the man on the show was proposing, Chad sitting in front of Lesley on the floor, turned around and asked her to marry him. She said YES.... | THE PROPOSAL
