1: We were childhood friends who lost contact with each other as we went in different directions in our teens. This was our first contact in more than 40 years. We became Face Book friends and soon began making plans to meet. | February 19, 2011
2: February 27 | Our first meeting was in Huntington, WV at Jolly Pirate Donuts. | In the next few weeks dozens of donuts made their way to Ky.
3: The day ended with a long dinner at Pondersoa where two childhood friends quickly found that we still had a lot in common and wanted to stay in contact.
4: Life brings us simple pleasures every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. | March 09 Paintsville Lake | We found a seasonal waterfall that soon became a favorite place to visit.
5: March 17 Powell Valley Overlook | We started taking long drives and found this beautiful spot overlooking Powell Valley, VA, We talked about marriage, each of us saying the other proposed.
6: On April 1, 2011, we got married in Sevierville, Tn.
7: We honeymooned in the Smokies
8: We thought it was snow on top of Newfound Gap, but we found out it was ice when it hit us on our heads!

20: We enjoyed spending time with Larry & Mary, Lynette & Bailey, and hosting Justin and Brittney for a weekend, picnics at Ashalnd Central Park. Goodbye lightning bug tree
21: From the time we were married we were traveling 2 or 3 days a week to Ky. On my birthday, July 15, we moved into a house on Ivy Creek, Ivel, Ky We spent the next few weeks settling in and going on a lot of picnics. | Little Shepherd Trail was beautiful! | Paul & Nan breaking beans

24: Looking Glass Falls | Mid September we stopped by Bowling Green to see Gavin on our way to the Smokies. We spent the following day at the Opryland Hotel before heading on to Gatlinburg. Once there, we booked a room at Zoders, then went sightseeing for the afternoon. When we got back to the cabin, a snake slithering across the steps sent us on our way, not only out of town, but out of the state!
25: Buckner Gap, US 23, NC | We ended up in North Carolina. We were not looking, but we found several waterfalls. That was probably the beginning my obsession to chase waterfalls. | Looking Glass Falls
26: October We had a wonderful ten day, fifteen state tour to see fall foliage, We began in Kentucky, and traveled through Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, all the New England states, down the mid Atlantic states, and finally back home through Virginia. | Amish Country, Ohio | Paine Falls, Ohio

43: We spent November and December buying a house. We moved out of the Ivy Creek house on Dec. 16. We stayed at Super 8 Motel until we closed on the house on Windy Brook Lane, Banner on Dec. 22, which is also Paul's birthday. We spent the rest of the year settling into the new house. What a wonderful year it has been!
