In later years he will recall, with tenderness and love, Two charming girls, with hands in his, Two blessings from above.

We find ourselves wondering... Did we give you your due.. For all that you've done for us Did we ever thank you? For all of our childhood memories For helping us deal with life's stresses For helping us accept our defeats And celebrate our successes? Or for teaching us the value of hard work, Good judgment, courage, and being true The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we've shared Did we ever thank you? If we have forgotten, We are thanking you now You taught us right from wrong.... We hope you know how much you're loved and appreciated We hope you, instinctively, knew it all along. Happy Birthday, Dad

Dad, some day I will meet my prince charming but you will always be my king!

"It is not length of life, but depth of life. " -Ralph Waldo Emerson

I'm as lucky as can be, for the world's best dad belongs to me. | God made you my DAD LOVE made me your FRIEND.

 The Leflers

These were taken on our European adventure with your dear parents, from 5-12 thru 5-23-2010. It seems we were either drinking or eating, a marvelous experience. Your parents are spectacular and their love for my little one moved us to tears this past Nov. 7th when they flew here to visit, Miss Blanche, for her 83rd BD.

When Roy and I think of Merrill, we think of that infectious smile he walks around with , and at the same time, the guy who is always thinking about what time (!!!) the next event will be ...a nice way of saying , he is punctual. When we are fortunate enough, we visit Monnie and Merrill from time to time. From the minute they pick us up at the airport, we feel like we are on the red carpet. While he is chauffeuring us around, he might be thinking of what wine should accompany our meal that night. On their last visit, they are almost ready to leave, and Monnie says," Well, I've got some shopping to do when I get home." Merrill is up there telling me how great your house smells. Merrill never told me , but I took it as a compliment. This is a guy who hand picks his bathroom soaps, and is on a first name basis with the employees at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. We've never thought he had the big head, but with children, and a granddaughter who look so much like him, we feel he does have bragging rights. | The Andrews

Happy 70th birthday, Merrill, you are a great guy and have made my precious cousin a wonderful husband! We love you, Shirley and Roy a. k. a. Gran and Whitey

This story speaks to Merrill’s ingenuity and his courage. I’ve never admired a person more than Merrill!! When Monnie and Merrill (and, of course, you girls) lived in Pittstown, NJ, they invited us to come visit. That will teach them to issue rash invitations! We were going to fly to Europe from Dover Air Force Base, but when we got there, there were some delays. We decided on a whim to take Monnie and Merrill up on their kind invitation. After all, we were already on the East Coast, so why not? | We called to warn them we were on the way but – just got the answering machine. Disappointed, we decided they could be anywhere so we would not get to see Pittstown. We checked into Officers Quarters at Dover and went to sleep. In the middle of the night, the phone started ringing. Well, that’s never good, right? A phone call in the middle of the night? This time it was Merrill – he had called the base operator and asked to be connected to the general’s suite in the Officer’s Quarters. | He wanted to talk to General Green. I guess he figured he should start at the top and work his way down! Amazingly, the base operator connected us and we had a great talk. Not even our family has been able to track us down. We were very impressed – glad there wasn’t a real General Green – we would never have connected! We decided we would head up to Pittstown at first light the next day. We met up with Monnie and Merrill, had a wonderful lunch at one of the historic taverns there. | Wade and Lynette

Then we came back and sat on the patio and started in on some of Merrill’s wonderful wines. I THINK Monnie’s roast turkey was wonderful, but there is no doubt the wine, company and conversation was!! The bottles kept coming, we talked and talked, Monnie lost her voice and finally at about 2:00 a.m., Merrill looked at his watch and announced he needed to go to bed – he had to go to work in about 4 hours! We all trooped upstairs to bed and I think we brushed our teeth – not too sure – but for sure, we fell into bed and slept until about 10:00 a.m. | Monnie, Wade and I all quietly made our way downstairs the next morning – Merrill was long gone. If he felt as badly as I did, he was incredibly brave to even think about going to work. We counted empty bottles on the counter – 9 or 10, I believe. We choked down a piece of dry toast and prayed we would survive the day. I have never admired a person more than Merrill – there would have been ABSOLUTELY no way I could have gone to work! Bet he’s still sorry he tracked us down. He was too smart for his own good. There are no pictures of that evening – I think – I hope they were all destroyed!

My favorite memory of the time I spent with the Sehulsters in Williamsburg was the planning and execution of Merrill’s surprise 40th birthday party! I catered the food from The College of William & Mary, and Monnie handled the rest, with the help of Wade & Lynette Green and others. The result was that we actually surprised Merrill and had such a fun, memorable evening! | The Wagner's

One day, Monnie invited me to shop for a rug with her down in Newport News, VA. Not just any rug. An oriental rug for the dining room. Well, don’t you know, she found one and I don’t think she wanted to “run it past Merrill.” She wanted that rug. So they loaded it up in her vehicle for us. Well, we got back to Williamsburg, and couldn’t budge the thing. It was unbelievably heavy. And, we couldn’t wait for Merrill to get home and help. I think the idea was that if we got it in the house, it would be more difficult for him to return it to the shop. Monnie got the wheelbarrow and somehow we pushed the rug out of the back of the car and into the wheelbarrow! We got it perfectly placed in the dining room before Merrill got home. Whew! Of course he let Monnie keep the rug!

When I first met my granddad, he seemed to be a pretty nice guy. As the week went on, I soon learned how cool and fun my granddad is! I remember when I thought his house was a mansion, later that day he took me to the beach and showed me some real mansions. The next time I saw them was Christmas and that was when I got my first iPod. That iPod was the coolest thing to me and i carried it everywhere I went! To this day I know my granddad as a great person and someone I love. Happy Birthday Granddad, and many more!!

Dear Granddad, Happy Birthday! I think you are the best granddad ever! I think that because you are nice, awesome, and kind. I love you granddad. Love, Alana

"A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again. " - Enid Bagnold

"A Dad is someone to look up to no matter how tall you've grown." | "A truly rich man is one whose children run into his arms when his hands are empty."

You don't marry someone you can live with, you marry the person who you cannot live without
