S: Rachel, Glenn and Jake
BC: We wish you happiness and comfort in your decision and thank you again for taking the time to review our family.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to present ourselves as possible adoptive parents to your little one. We cannot imagine the heartache you are experiencing in making a such an important decision. But we also know that God will give you the comfort and wisdom to make the decision that will be best for you and your child. Both of us have adoption ties in our families. I have six cousins who were adopted, and one of my cousins has placed two of her children through an adoption agency. Glenn and his twin brother were adopted at the age of fifteen. Even before we were married we discussed adopting a child, and as our son gets older, we feel that it is time to move forward with expanding our family. Our son, Jake, is so excited about the prospect of being a big brother, and constantly talks about what he would teach his sibling, as well as how he would play with him or her.
We were introduced by my sister in 2005. On my birthday in 2006, we went to the movies together for the first time as friends. Two months later, Glenn got up the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend. Within a month, we both knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. On a fossil dig in Arcadia, FL, Glenn asked me to marry him, and we were wed three months later at my home church. Three months into our marriage, we found out that we were expecting. In the years that followed, we have grown closer to each other and to God. We've learned that we can overcome anything with God's help, and that if we keep Him in the forefront we can only grow not only as Christians, but as a couple and as parents.
Our relationship was built on God's love and His Word from the beginning. Our desire is to instill this love throughout every part of our family. | Glenn and my parents praying at our wedding.
Glenn was born in 1973, and at the age of four was placed in the state's care after his mother's death. He and his twin brother were later adopted by their cousin. Beginning in high school, Glenn worked as a farmer on his cousin's farm. He played football and was active in Agriculture. After graduating from high school he went to college to study welding. Once he graduated there, he joined the Army. In 2003, Glenn left the Army and moved to the Bahamas, where he worked as a welder. In 2006, he moved back to Florida. Glenn is currently working at a VA hospital. In 2012, Glenn's half-brother contacted him for the first time and their relationship has been growing. | John, Glenn John, Mom, Glenn
I was born in 1982, as the youngest of five children. Beginning in the fifth grade, I joined the band playing the flute, and in high school I joined chorus. My family was very active in church, as my mother was in charge of the youth group. I graduated from high school a year early and worked on my parents' butterfly farm for seven years while attending college. Today, I work at a Mental Health and Substance Abuse facility as an Accounting Clerk. My main desire in life was to be a wife and a mother. In the years 2007 and 2008, both of these dreams came true. | David, Ester, Charlotte, Rachel, Mark Mom, Dad | Charlotte, David, Mark Mom (Rachel), Dad (Ester)
Personality-wise, Jake is the class clown and loves to make people laugh. He is easy going and very smart. He enjoys Angry Birds and Monster Trucks and anything else with wheels. Jake has been asking for a brother or sister for over a year. One night after prayer, I leaned down to give him a kiss. "Mommy," he said, "I want a brother or sister." I told him to pray and maybe God would answer his prayer. Jake immediately started a new prayer. "Dear God, Thank you for today and thank you for Mommy, and Daddy, and Jake. God, please give me a brother and sister. In Jesus' name, Amen." He still prays this prayer, knowing that he can talk to God and that God listens to his prayers.
Jake's daycare/preschool is amazing! They are focused on learning and keeping the children's interest peaked.
Every month my family gets together for a dinner so that we can remain close. We live on the same property as my parents, as does one of my sisters. | Family is very important to us. Every year we have family reunions with extended family so that everyone can visit and catch up with everyone's lives.
Bonding time at Glenn's family's house! | Jake with his namesake - Uncle Jake | Jake enjoys riding on the Golf Cart with Papa | Papa loves to pass on family traditions.
We love the outdoors and enjoy spending time with the amazing things you find in nature. We live on 100+ acres of private land, where we have access to these wonders of nature.
The free things in life really are the most important.
We enjoy going to the Antique Tractor Shows that travel around the area. | Every year we go to Glenn's family's pumpkin patch to spend time with the family and to pick the perfect pumpkin. | Each year, we go to Dudley Farms to experience life as it was before electricity. Here they are making cane syrup. | Jake's favorite part of the zoo was the Komodo dragon sculpture. Glenn liked the wolf enclosure, and I liked the elephant enclosure the best!
We attend Monster Jams every chance we get. Here Glenn and Jake are talking to the driver of Gunslinger. | Papa has many farm implements that are used to cultivate his land. | We love going to the flea market! You never know what you will find or what you might be asked to do! Here, the livestock vendor asked Jake to feed his baby goat while he finished unloading his truck. We also buy all of our fruit and veggies from the flea market and are known on a first name basis by the vendor.
We love celebrating the holidays with the ones we love. Creating memories to last a lifetime.
Memories can not be purchased, except by the one thing that you cannot buy: time with those you love, doing what you love.
Flash is our ten year old cuddly puppy. His favorite pastime is sleeping. | Sierra is eleven years old and loves riding in a vehicle. She once rode from FL to LA without even taking a nap. | Sam Kitty is our three year old cat. He is a mommy's kitten all the way. He loves to sleep on me. | Gnocchi is our kitten, who was named after the cat on Curious George. He is a daddy's cat. He is very playful but always loves a cuddle break.
We love our animals and have always had them around. Between our dogs and cats, my parents' butterfly farm, Glenn's dad's cattle, and my mom's chickens, we are surrounded. | My parents also have a pond which is stocked with brim and bass. It is always a pleasure to walk out and toss in food for the fish. At times, they are so active that they jump out of the water to get the food.
Our Church and Our Family | We belong to the church where I grew up. The people show the classic southern atmosphere of friendliness. The children's program has recently been revamped, and I am the teacher for the preschoolers. We believe in teaching from an early age what a blessing it is to be Children of God. The church also offers a Christian School, which we will be taking full advantage of.
We live in a 2000 square foot house that has four bedrooms and two baths. In addition, it has two living rooms creating a large area for play and the master bedroom also has an office attached where Jake typically plays in the evening.
Above is a picture of our front yard from the front porch. We are surrounded by woods in every direction. Sierra is lounging around, enjoying the warmth before a cold front moves in.
