5: Overnight town | handed out Cokes, mine was warm......yuck | Camped outside Atlantic High School a/c inside delicious. Check out the Solar Panel powering GPS. Cool trikes.

6: Jeff, our tour leader, does not like tents | Elk Horn | Mermaids | Monday

7: 1 day old piglets, so cute. Lots of hills again today. Finding shade (below). | Kimballton and their famous Mermaid fountain. Wait, weren't the Mermaids in Elk Horn? | Beekman's (right) homemade ice cream with their signature sounds "chug (pause) chug (pause) chug" | dont look at this

8: Should we bury her? | The Singing Nuns | Manning | pulled pork | Right outside of Manning a farmer cut the Ragbrai logo in his cornfield

9: Templeton | Look at me!! | It's still HOT!!! 93F

10: Dedham & bologna on a stick | ...then on to more hills until we get to Willey, Iowa | ...and we finally roll into Carroll our next overnight town | 97F | hot and no shade | chicken pasta alfredo at the Carroll HS

11: Tuesday, another hot day | 1st stop, Lidderdale | Lanesboro, Iowa

12: what happened here?? | Churdan | ....then just a bit outside Churdan, the famous Mr Pork Chop | a huge pork chop | smoked over corn cobs

13: Payton, Iowa | 24 Ragbrai patches | marinated grilled lamb chops, can you say yum | Maid-Rite sandwiches or loose meat sandwiches | Pilot Mound | I signed this Ricky Hu: Kona,HI in honor of my puppy Kona | Water station with soaps on ropes | Oh, about 94F | minimal shade in Payton

14: The next overnight town, Boone I ate pie at the Lutheran Church getting my stomach fat again. Camping at McHose Park. Check out the skateboarder who did the entire route | So Wednesday begins with cloud coverage, oh yes, and that means cooler temps in the low 80s. | not that cold | my first snack of the day | just L O V E L Y

15: this time I pass up Mr Pork Chop and head into Slater, Iowa | Note to self: only ride when temp comfortable | Slater | ..then onto Alleman,Iowa | this is the left

16: Elkhart | Bondurant | and finally ending for the day | Altoona

17: Wednesday & Good Morning | 1st stop Mitchellvile and coffee and the HS band | then onto Colfax with the Drug Store and Soda Fountain | when you leave Colfax, pedal up that steep hill...ughh

18: Summer Time! | & some cooling rain sprinkles | outside of Baxter, I found the PBJam stand. Jalapenos were the ingredient of the day, so add that to my PBJ/banana/raisin sandwich

19: Grinnell, the finish for the day. We headed downtown for a Church dinner and entertainment. Saw a 1895 racing bike with wooden rims.

20: It's Thursday Yeah! ate 3 pies at dinner!!! | Farm Boys burrito | Armadillo Eggs | Brooklyn | Victor, Iowa | Marengo | South Amana | Homestead

21: Oxford, Iowa | ham ball Sundae | We're finished | We camped next to the Jr High School where Avatar was show in the theatre in AIR CONDITIONING. The church dinner was next door in AIR CONDITIONING. What's the key word here???
