Our yearly vacation at the beach with the "gang"... Bittermans, Mellingers, VanOrmers & Burkholders. The Mellingers graciously open up their beach house for us. The week is filled with adventure... trips to the ocean, walks along the bay, playing cards, watching movies, a bike ride every morning to the ferry, a visit to Cape May Point (Sunset Beach) to watch the sunset, sleeping in tents, and lots of delicious food! This year, Elliott was 10 months, Adalie was almost 2, Sawyer was 2 months, and Colette was in Lindsey's belly!

After three years of marriage, we finally got the whole Ressler family together at Remronav Cabin for a weekend. Everyone had fun playing with Elliott, going out for ice cream, swinging in the hammock, cooking over the fire, target shooting, and going for walks. Hopefully we can do this again next summer!
 Third Anniversary
For our 3rd Anniversary, Lynn & I stayed at the Red Caboose Motel for the night. Elliott stayed with Grandma & Grandpa VO - right down the road in Strasburg. We got to sleep in a real caboose! 55: TIOGA COUNTY This was Elliott's first trip to Grandpa Shenk's cabin. He got to experience all the fun activities... riding the giant Elk, climbing through the drain pipe, playing on the sawdust pile, sitting on the stone wall, and splashing at Rock Run. We also visited the Frey's for Adalie's 2nd birthday. While there, we went for a bike ride in the PA Grand Canyon and got ice cream, of course!
 Colette Marie Frey
Our second trip to Tioga County this summer was to celebrate the birth of our niece, Colette, born to Nate & Lindsey & big sister Adalie. Of course, our trip included a swim in the pool, a swim in the tub, and a bike ride to get ice cream cones. Elliott loved playing with his cousins up North!
August 2011 | Every summer we spend a week at the VanOrmer Cabin with the "Gang". Our week is spent relaxing on the porch, swimming in the hot-tub, stomping in the creek, hiking through the woods, and riding on the four-wheeler. | REMRONAV
Loyal A Cabin | Each year we spend a few days at the Loyal A cabin with the Ressler family. Most of our time is spent playing in the creek!
Houghton Reunion | Jamie Lynn (Farrell) Edwards and Marleen (Sider) Geiger with their adorable boys. I went to college with these lovely ladies and we had many fun memories living in a townhouse together our Senior year at Houghton. Marleen lives in Lancaster & Jamie was visiting with her mom and boys for the weekend. We met at the petting zoo at Long's Park.
 Happy 1st Birthday Elliott!
For Elliott's first birthday, we had an African Safari party! All the guests wore khakis, white shirts, safari hats, and binoculars. There was a safari tent and lots of wild animals! We drank out of mason jars covered with animal prints, and the birthday cake was decorated with fondant animals. At the end, we spent some time praying for Elliott's upcoming surgery, on September 6th. | september 2011
Elliott's second open heart surgery was on his first birthday - September 6,2011. Dr. Pizarro performed a Glenn Shunt procedure. (See Caring Bridge updates for more details!) We stayed at A.I. Dupont Hospital for Children for 10 days. After Elliott started feeling better, he was able to go out for wagon rides, sit in the court yard, and play in the play room.
 Alfred I. DuPont
After Elliott's surgery, he needed to be on supplemental oxygen, 24 hours a day. We had 2 oxygen concentrators that he was hooked up to, in addition to several portable O2 tanks. A long extension tube allowed Elliott to get around the house, but he often got tangled up! Elliott learned to walk (around 14 months) while still on oxygen. He remained on O2 until January of 2012 - for a total of 5 months. It was quite an adjustment for all of us!
Look who's going to be a BIG brother!! We found out we were pregnant in August and we made our big announcement in late October. Baby Ressler # 2 is due the end of April!
It's been a tradition the past two years to dress up the kids for Halloween. This year, we decided to venture out and go trick-or-treating! Elliott was a lion and Lynn & I were Safari Hunters. Other friends included: Matt & Emily Phipps & Addie (dressed as a Bumblebee), Matt & Molly Holden & Julia (as a Pirate), Nathan & Nancy Isacc & Mary (as a strawberry?) & Emma (as a bee) & Edith (as a ballerina). We ate dinner at the Phipps' house before heading out.
Harvest Fair | Calvary Church Harvest Fair... Elliott's first ride on a horse!
NOVEMBER 2011 | Apple Sauce | Every Fall, Emily Phipps and I make applesauce together! We bought apples at Cherry Hill Orchard and made about 30 pints of sauce, each.
Hamilton PLAY-DATE | Another play date with former teachers from Hamilton Elementary. Kiley Ziegler with Olivia and Elianna; Deb Fair with Zoe; and Hilary Schenck with Rocco. Rocco tried to get a bit fresh with Olivia! Better watch out for those Ziegler girls!
Grandpa Ressler (Lynn's dad) thought it would be fun to "borrow" a puppy for the evening for Elliott to play with. Unfortunately, Elliott wanted nothing to do with the puppy! He was much more content digging through cabinets and banging pots and pans. Grandpa was a bit disappointed. I'm sure in another year or so, Elliott would LOVE to have a puppy to play with! | PLAYFUL PUPPY
Learning to Walk | Elliott started walking on his own around 14 months... oxygen tube and everything!
Play-time with Grandma & Grandpa VO. Mom & Dad wanted a photo with the grandkids to use for their Christmas cards this year.

DECK THE HALLS | Decorating for Christmas
Longwood Gardens is always a favorite place to visit at Christmas time. In the past, Lynn & I would always go the night before Thanksgiving Day, when all the lights were turned on for "testing". Since Lynn used to work there, we got in for free. We were often the only ones in the gardens! This year we went with our friends, Eric and Yumi Anderson and their kids, Kaito and Sora. (Lynn did his student teaching in Eric's classroom at Reynolds Middle School). Everyone enjoyed looking at the poinsettias and Christmas lights!
Christmas Time in the City | Elliott meets Santa Clause
 Downtown Lancaster
His Hands Christmas Party We are very grateful to be part of the His Hands ABF the past few years. God has blessed us with many great friends!
MPACT Christmas Party 2011 | Molly Holden and I led an MPACT group together this year. We were both expecting babies - due in April! Our group consisted of 10th and 11th grade girls. Only 3 were able to make it to the Christmas party: (L-R) Molly, Kristie, Katie, Kylie & Laurie. Elliott & Julia played in the kitchen while we had our party.
We played a fun version of "now-you-have-it" with a pair of dice. I ended up with the "Elf" movie that I had brought in the first place! We also enjoyed hot chocolate with candy canes and Christmas cookies.
Each year we spend Christmas Eve with the VanOrmer family at the Novaks house. Elliott got to be baby Jesus (for the 2nd time!) in the annual reading and pageantry of Luke 2. The performance was followed by a Christmas hymn-sing, accompanied by Bethie on her flute.
Christmas Eve Traditions with the VanOrmers | "The Vest" My Dad, Steve VanOrmer, wore this little red vest when he was a little boy. It's been passed around to all the VanOrmer boys in the family, and this year, Elliott got to wear it! The group picture is of all the boys who have worn the vest at one time or another.
 DECEMBER 25, 2011
It's a BOY! We had a special Christmas surprise in our stocking this year. Elliott is going to have a little brother! I had an ultrasound a few weeks before Christmas, and we decided to wait till Christmas morning to find out what we were having. The ultrasound tech wrote the babies gender on one of the pictures she took and put it in an envelope for us to open later. | a Star is born!
 Shenk Family
 RESSLER FAMILY
CELEBRATIONS | The Ressler Christmas festivities began at Oregon Dairy for lunch, with all of Lynn's aunts and uncles and cousins. We then headed back to our house for dinner and presents. I had picked Lorielle's name for our gift exchange and got her sewing box and Ginger scissors. Lynn had Lee's name and got him a toaster oven. Lee had my name, and very generously bought us Adobe Photoshop Elements. Lorielle also made me a beautiful apron! And of course we ended the evening with the annual family photo-shoot by Leon.
My family's Christmas celebration is always full of traditions. From sleeping overnight at Grandma's house, to waiting for "the song" to beckon us downstairs, to wearing our Christmas PJ's, to reading the Christmas story, to eating egg-mc-muffins for lunch. We have to set aside an entire day, as it usually takes us past noon to open all the presents - especially now with 3 grandchildren (and one on the way!). There's always lots of excitement! This was Elliott's 2nd Christmas and he got a rocking horse. Laurie got money towards her new camera, and Lynn got a brand new table saw!
