BC: Lion and Lamb, by Chris Hoy

FC: Reverence

1: Forward On a beautiful Fall morning in 1976, my faithful Opel Rekord carried me easterly, along the valleys of the Main and Regnitz Rivers, to the 1000-year-old city of Bamberg, Germany. Anciently, Bamberg was christianized by the Benedictine Monks of Fulda Abbey and for a short time served as the center of the Holy Roman Empire. In darker times, Bamberg was the site of the "Bamberg Conference", called to end dissent within the National Socialist German Workers' Party. The purpose of my modern journey that peaceful Sunday was to carry the message of love and encouragement from the Presidency of the Frankfurt Germany Servicemen's District to the members of the Bamberg Servicemen's Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Numerous topics occupied my thoughts as I struggled with what I would say. Appending a new request in direct opposition to my on-going prayer for safety and good judgment while driving the German highways, I began to have an outpouring of thoughts on the subject of Reverence. As my left hand steered, my right hand wrote down those words that follow here. May these reflections on reverence uplift and inspire the reader as they have me these last 35 years. B.
