In some ways we can understand what you might be going through and worrying about as you read this and yet in so many other ways we probably can't even begin to fathom it all. We give thanks to God that you are considering adoption. Know that we pray for all who will browse through this book, which now includes you. We hope to have a family of our own and adoption is our only true option together. We can offer abounding love in a stable, Christian family that values education, fun and adventure in life. Sincerely, Alan and Sherri

Hi, I am not going to pretend that I know what you are going through right now. However, I am praying that as you go through this process that you find hope and peace in whatever decision you choose to make concerning your child. I come from humble beginnings. My parents were married for 42 years until my father passed away. While I was growing up we moved frequently, which I feel has blessed me so that I love to travel but can also appreciate being at home. We have been to Germany twice and have plans for trips to other parts, but we really like relaxing beach locations too. We try to take at least two family vacations every year. I value the time that we get with our family when we are away from our everyday life. Other than traveling, I enjoy the outdoors and adventure. I like to scuba dive, enjoy bike rides, hiking, and especially being out on the water. I also love to cook and find it relaxing. Plus, most of the time I find my cooking to be better than going out to eat! I believe in using fresh foods and try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible. I like to read and enjoy the times when I am able to be taken in by a great book. I was a school teacher until Alan and I decided that we were ready to add a baby into our family, so now I am currently at home. I am going to be a stay at home mom to ensure that our child has the time, attention, and care they need to grow into a well rounded adult. I have been blessed to have Alan as my husband and over the past 7 years we have been able to establish a wonderful foundation of friendship and love in our marriage. We are now ready to bring a child into our home to help it grow and flower into the person that God has intended for him or her to be. We have chosen adoption because we know firsthand the difference it can make in someone's life. My husband and sister in-law were both adopted and they both have benefited from it. If we are chosen to care for your child, we will celebrate the fact that they are adopted and we will love him or her with all our heart just as we would our very own biological child. I am very open to exchanging letters with you so that you may also share in their experiences and in their accomplishments. I also would like to provide pictures so that you are able to see the changes in your child as he or she grows through the years. I have a deep respect for you and the decision you are making. I will continue praying for you, no matter what your decision is. In Christ, Sherri

Hello, I am so humbled and pleased that you are looking over our booklet and have paused to read this letter. I can imagine that the images start to blur when what must be most on your mind is the future of you and your child. I was adopted as a child. I will probably never meet my own birthmother, but I know that I am forever grateful that she loved me enough to take a leap of faith in trying to provide the best life for me that she could. I grew up in a large Midwestern city in a stable home with my only sister, who is also adopted. My dad was an engineer and my mom worked for an advertising agency up until I was born, when she quit working in order to raise me. As you can see, I have a year-round dark complexion yet my eyes are a deep blue, perhaps the biggest giveaway to my mostly Swedish and German lineage. I was a good student throughout school. I also had many interests and was good at most sports, sticking with swimming the longest and then football, both of which earned me scholarships in college as well. I was also gifted in music, especially choir, and still sing in choir today. You could also say that I am very “outdoorsy” and adventuresome, including hobbies like mountain biking, rock climbing, camping, hiking, and SCUBA diving. My favorite pastimes are perhaps flying, since I have a pilot license, or sailing. I married late and realize that I will not be able to have my own biological children. I would like to have the opportunity to raise a child and to be his or her dad. I would be most honored to have you choose me to be that for your child. As you look into the future I don't know what type of interactions you imagine with us or your child but I would hope that you would at least accept periodic updates and pictures so that you could be proud of him or her and affirmed in the choice you made in trusting Sherri and I to raise your child. I am a deeply faithful person and have been involved in my churches throughout my life and I would hope to share my faith with my child. Education remains very important to Sherri and I and I am pleased to share that a college education is already prepared for in our child's future. Just as I had the encouragement and freedoms to pursue so many activities in life, I can't wait to share in that same journey with our new child to see what interests and talents he or she discovers along the way! I prayed that God would grant peace and comfort to any who read this and my hope is that you feel His presence as you browse the remaining pages. May you find deep peace in whatever decision you make for you and your child. Sincerely, Alan

Our Wedding Day May 8, 2004

After dating for two years we knew without a doubt that we were truly meant to be together forever. The next step was obviously to gather all of our friends and family together to share in the moment and witness our vows. It was a big wedding! We will always remember that day, every look, every comment and our friends still talk of it as well.

This is our home in the Austin, TX area. We have plenty of space and a wonderful community to be part of and raise a family. | This guest room will be the home of our future child. We can't wait to find out which way to decorate it! | Our Home ...

Our pets are currently our family and we love them to death. They are each sufficiently spoiled and are lovers one and all, always eager to meet new people. The cats are Sasha and Crowley, Ty is the boxer, `Iago is the Cockatiel and there are fish, each with names as well:-) | Our Home ...

We make time for vacations and enjoy traveling to see the world and all of the wonderful beauty in God's creation! | Our Hobbies and Interests ...

Sailing, hiking, camping, skiing on water or snow... | We both enjoy diving and are certified in SCUBA. Alan is a Commercial rated pilot too! | We have many hobbies that we love to share and that give us many memories of times together.

Rather than seeking the big social scene, we prefer our smaller groups of very close friends. Most of the friends in our social group have small children or are still planning on children and we dream of having our child be able to grow up in this community of extended friends. | Our Friends ...

Sherri raised two daughters from a prior marriage that make us both proud. Each is married and has a family of their own, giving us two grandkids to extend our family, with another on the way! Lauren is the youngest, with Jared who is 3 1/2, and Christy is the oldest, with Isabella who is coming on 3. Lauren is a photographer and adult care-giver and Christy is in the Air Force as . an Intelligence Specialist. | The Rest of Our Family ...

We have very close knit families that we enjoy spending holiday's and vacations with. Alan has a younger sister with three girls and Sherri has two younger brothers, only one that is married with 3 young girls. With both parents having large families there are many, many cousins so it seems there is family everywhere. | Our Extended Family ...

Education ... | Education has been a very important part of our lives. We each spent more than the normal time in school pursuing various programs and majors and conducting graduate work. As you may have noted earlier, we both still work professionally in the field of education, primary grades for Sherri and at the university level for Alan. We would thus provide a highly supportive learning environment for your child if we are chosen to raise it and we would instill education as a value for him or her in the process from the very beginning. Sherri has completed her undergraduate studies with work in business and computer information systems and then completed her teacher certification in graduate school and is nearing completion of a master degree in education. Alan has completed multiple undergraduate degrees in physics and chemistry, several master degrees in physics, business and project management and has completed a doctoral degree. Here are some samples of our school affiliations...

We love to root for the Wildcats during football season!! | Both of us played and still enjoy sports. Sherri actually played HS Football (yes, with the guys) and Alan was a competitive swimmer most of his life through college but also played football and golf in college, plus most other sports growing up. Both of us were also involved in music, with Sherri playing the flute through high school and Alan playing the piano, saxophone and bassoon through high school plus choir through college and continues to perform in concert choirs today.

Thank you so much for taking the time to get to know us, our friends, family and extended families. It means a lot to us just to know you considered us. It would be a great honor to be granted the privilege to raise your child and by that connect you to our family. May God bless you and keep you in His loving care and grant you peace as you make your deliberations and decisions. Sincerely, Alan & Sherri
