S: Smith Beach Vacation 2008
FC: Smith Family Beach Vacation 2008
"In every grain of sand there is a story of the earth" -Rachel Carson
We awoke early (some earlier than others, and some less "awake" than others) and eagerly loaded our belongings and ourselves into the Smith convoy.
When we stopped for breakfast at IHOP we found that some were less bright eyed and bushy tailed than they orginally appeared. Others were in need of some quality time with their brother.
Brent was nice enough to help Kyle with the grilling. These are the only photos we have of them "grilling" outside the house. It seems they are practicing for the professional league seen above. | We finally reached our beloved beach house (after being separated, stopping at THE fruit stand, and taking a restroom break) and immediately started thinking about food.
Bacce was a big hit. Everyone seemed to have a different stance but all played.
Most people found that holding a beer in their other hand gave them just the right amount of balance to deliver an amazing throw.
The boys worked hard setting up the volleyball net.
Of course, there were other games . . .
Everyone took a sand bath whether they wanted to or not.
It's a wonder we weren't recruited to play on a professional team.
to build our skills in other areas. | We took breaks from professional bacce and volleyball games
Some of us found other kinds of recreation.
We even found time to play at the restaurant. This is where we tried a "beach bum" beer, not a favorite.
 This was Nick's Birthday dinner.
And got a little camera happy. | We all shared in Nick's dessert at Slammin' Sammy's.
The food at The Pier was less than fabulous but the service and the view were amazing. The view was so nice we had to stop to take pictures.
Our favorite early bird place, Tail of a Whale. | Several strangers were nice enough to take this groups' picture
With all of our activities we still managed to find time to enjoy the beach.
Brock seems a bit young to be joining the 'old man by the sea' group just yet.
Some admired from afar. | Some stuck their toes in. | And others jumped head first.
Some of us got a little too relaxed.
Too much playing | wears out the kiddos
Admits the playing, sleeping, and food there was a little exercise. The puddle jumping event was popular again this year.
We entered late and still finished ahead of some people. I'm thinking we should train for this next year. | "You don't have to call next time." -J&K
I suppose we'll have to set off our own next year, Travis.
There are a 'few' photos that didn't make it in because they were true Smith poses.
As the sun set on our vacation, we busily | readied our things and packed the cars.
For Carole the trip was a little shorter. She packed her things only to take a trip to the rest stop where she awaited pick-up by Perry and Joanne
While this little book holds many wonderful snapshots it does not tell the story of our whole vacation. It does, however, do a nice job of telling the story of a loving family who enjoys making memories together.
