S: The Beehive
BC: The End! I hope you enjoyed my story!
FC: The Beehive By: Hanna Braaten
There I was, with my sweaty hands clinging on to a thin metal bar on the side of a mountain. Completely scared for my life, I carried on, learning every step of the way that anything is possible. Seriously. I would have never thought I could do anything that I was going to face ahead. I found I was capable and should take some more risks. | This is the Beehive. 520 feet tall
This fall, my family and I wanted to go on an adventure, so we decided to take a plane ride to Maine and visit Acadia National Park.
It took my family a while to decide on what trail we would go on, but we finally decided to go on a trail for expert hikers.
Unfortunately... We were way over our heads, because once we were about one fourth into the hike things started to get complicated. | Before the climb...
In the begging it seemed easy enough, but as we made our way up higher and higher, everything got a whole lot harder.
Before you know it, we were climbing underneath fallen boulders and up the jagged side of the mountain. | There would be times where there was only about one foot of room to walk on the ledge! | I was VERY THANKFUL that in some places they put metal rods in the side to cling onto.
Some places were very easy to slip on because the mountain was so smooth, but having those rods to hold onto were a little bit of reassurance.
I had no desire to fall off the side of a cliff, so I had to be very careful on where I stepped.
My family would all stop every once in a while to make sure everything was going well and no one was hurt. | I thought this was a good idea because my little brother is wild and runs all over the place, so we need to keep him on track, and even though he climbed with us, in our family, he was still adventurous. | That's Drew
After those little stops, we were on our way again. | Yeah!!
It wasn't that long before I was taking my last steps to the top!
I could see the calm, light blue sparkling ocean going for miles. | Trees with orange and yellow leaves blowing in the wind.
I could feel the wind blowing through my hair, sun shinning on my back, and smell the fresh air. | How Pretty!
The dangerous hike ended up being worth it after all because the reward was beautiful.
After conquering that mountain, I felt like I could do anything in the world.
This was a great accomplishment that inspired me to live on the edge and take some chances every once and a while. I also learned that you can do anything you set your mind to, you just have to have the strength to keep moving on.
