I Dedicate this book to: My Mother and Father. I also Dedicate this book to: Jay For helping me get through everything. I Love You!

I was eight years old when I was wondering through my yard heading towards the woods that fell behind my house. As I got closer I started to hear a noise, I turned to see if my father had heard it, but of course he didn't. The noise I was hearing could only be heard by me. As I got closer to the noise it became louder, then I found the source. It was a mound of dirt and as I pushed my hands through the soft, moist dirt I touched something cold and hard, but too hard to be a rock. Then I carefully brushed away the dirt and I found what I had been hearing. (pg. 4)

"A little learning is a dangerous thing." Alexander Pope | Journal 1 | "Daddy who is that little girl?" Violet

Ever since the school year started I've been enjoying the fact that I'm the one to pick up Jay Heaton, after all we're best friends. On the other hand I started to hate the new 'fan club' that waited for Jay every morning in the parking lot before school just to see him. I just hope this jealousy thing that I'm going through ends quick. (pg. 11)

"Advice is what we ask for when we already know the answer but wish we didn't." Erica Jong | Journal 2 | Chill out Violet, he's your best friend!" Violet

Today when Jay came over we went for a walk on the path, the one that trails off behind the woods. But we didn't even get into the woods yet when I fell over a fallen tree and scrapped both of my knee's. Jay also seemed to have the nerve to pick me up and carry me back to my house. I looked like a little child. (pg. 48)

Journal 3 | "Don't hate, it's too big a burden to bear." Martin Luther King, Jr. | "I'm not a baby, I can walk myself!" Violet

I was hanging out with Jay at a spring party, we had rented one of the Jet-Ski's and as we soared past the speed limit sign I felt something, something strange. So as usual me being the curious one I followed the feeling as it got stronger, I slowed down, eventually to a complete stop. When I finally found the source, I jumped into the water and waded towards the reeds that lined the shore. (pg. 58)

"The only mistake in life is the lesson not learned." Ralph Waldo Emerson | Journal 4 | "What is that? Something must be in those reeds." Violet

The Homecoming Dance was approaching fast, and I was really excited. I hoped that Jay would ask me to go with him but the question never came. Just as I waited for him in the parking lot after school Grady came by. He was the one I had to hear it from, Jay had gone home with Lissie Adams. As I sat there thinking of what to do Grady asked the one question I didn't want to hear, (not from him anyway) "Will you go to Homecoming with me?" (pg. 86)

Journal 5 | "An eye for eye only ends up making the whole world blind." M.K. Gandhi | "I hate Jay he shouldn't have done that to me, at least not without telling me." Violet

I went downstairs to meet my friends, we were going to a party, one that had no supervision... and alcohol, but my mom just thought I was spending the night at Chelsea's house. As we approached the house the music was practically vibrating the whole block, there were tons of people there too. Before I even set down my bag of "items" hands were reaching in, pulling out the first thing they touched. (pg. 161)

 "Life is hard; it's harder if you're stupid." John Wayne | Journal 6 | "I won't drink, I can't...well one drink won't hurt." Violet

Of course after we get to the party, after we decide we don't want to leave because it's too much fun, I run into him. It just so happens that right as I decide coming to this party was a good thing Grady finds me among the crowd. The saddest part about it though is that I really don't wanna see him, especially not right now. (pg. 168)

Journal 7 | "The most precious possession that ever comes to a man in this world is a woman's heart." Josiah Gilbert | "Why does he have to be here, no one wants to see him. Violet

As I am beginning to leave the party Jay finally shows up. Not to see me of course, or thats what I thought. The second he stepped out of his car he was directly in front of me. I never thought that this day would come, the day that Jay finally forgave me and yet again started talking to me. (pg. 175)

Journal 8 | "In order to have friends, you must first be one." Elbert Hubbard | "My best friend is back, I can't believe it!" Violet

Finally the day came, week of Homecoming. I never thought there could be so much commotion in a single week before. During the weekend I figured that I of all people wouldn't be the least bit excited for this long coming week, but as Monday rolled along I got filled more and more with the excision of the week to come. After all I was going to Homecoming, and with Jay too! (pg. 280)

Journal 9 | "It seems essential, in relationships and all tasks, that we concentrate only on what is most significant and important." Soren Kierkegaard | "I can't believe that Jay has liked me this whole time...why didn't he tell me?" Violet

So when the night of Homecoming eventually rolls around people go crazy with plans, mostly involving what their going to wear, but all I really care about is being with Jay. When we get there all we can really see is a mob of cars with people practically flooding out of them, and there's no parking what-so-ever. (pg. 293

Journal 10 | "Believe those who are seeking the truth. Doubt those who find it." André Gide | "Oh my gosh, what am I supposed to wear...I totally didn't plan this out." Violet
