S: The First Year of Forever
FC: Lasting Memories...
House closing done... time to enjoy our first camping trip together before the work begins."
The new pool was a haven for wildlife. The first time we visited, it was filled with pollywogs. The next time, it was filled with frogs. Soon after we moved in, we found a snake.
Mom never would have let this happen.
The pool wasn't the only thing that needed cleaning. Lots of people came to help clean the whole house the first weekend. It was hard work. Then, every ceiling and wall needed to be painted before the carpets were installed and the dream kitchen became a reality. Then our new life together began.
How much work was really getting done? Sometimes it was hard to tell. It took awhile, but the end results were worth the waiting.
The first firepit (with many more to follow) was well deserved after all the hard work. John and Alice, Tom and William, and all of us enjoyed the cool fall evening and sparklers!
Backyard complete with Brian's Palm Trees.
Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost Nature's first green is gold, Her hardest hue to hold, Her early leaf's a flower; But only so an hour. Then leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day. Nothing gold can stay.
Our favorite time of year! Uncle David came to visit and joined us a JP Ryan's Annual Halloween Bash. We had a great time, dancing, hanging with friends and seeing all the fun costumes. Then we went back to John and Alice's house for a few games of Left-Right-Center. I think it was 4AM when we finally left!
Then it was time for the kids to trick-or-treat. We went to Village Road with the Engstrom's. Marina (Hannah Montana), Meredith (vampire), and Calliope (pirate girl) filled their buckets. Cookie napped.
Soon enough, we were picking out the Christmas Tree. This was an ordeal, with 5 of us trying to decide on 1 tree on one of the coldest nights of the year. Then there was the fun of getting the tree standing. Again, an ordeal, but a whole bunch of fun too!
Finally! The tree was ready to decorate. It took a long time to put all the lights, garland, and ornaments on the tree. It was a combination of many years of collecting ornaments. As always, the girls had a wonderful time.
Meredith and Marina participated in the annual Christmas Parade on the Girl Scout float. They were so excited and loved every minute of it. | Calliope made her stage debut at GWMMS as "Tiny Tim" in A CHRISTMAS CAROL. She became famous on youtube for her signature dance. "Do the Calliope"
Frosty the Snowman was a jolly, happy soul... | Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow... | Walking in a Winter Wonderland... | Folks dressed up like Eskimos...
It was one of the snowiest winters on record. The kids missed 5 days of school before it was over. Roofs had to be shoveled.
Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Eve by Robert Frost Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound’s the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. | Wild or Tame? Our yard was a haven for cats and groundhogs alike. Cookie was the only one allowed inside!
GO PATS!!! | First SUPERBOWL Party!
Meredith and Marina took part in a Drama Class at the YMCA. Meredith was Cinderella, and Marina played one of the stepsisters. Marina was the Wicked Witch of the West, and Meredith was the Scarecrow.
Beautiful Girls! Meredith and Marina attended the Girl Scout 'Me and My Guy' Dance and Calliope was "Taylor Swift' in the Talent Show at her school.
SPRING ARRIVES AT LAST! | Crocuses Daffodils Baseball Birthdays Bruins Win! | It was wonderful to see the grass again and experience spring in the new house. | Stanley Cup Champions - BRUINS | Who's missing?
American Girl Doll | Mother's Day | Breakfast for Mom | Meredith | Bridge to Brownies | Cookies for troops in Afghanistan from Troop #80343 | Marina | Calliope's Dance Recital Day | ALIEN!
Memorial Day weekend marked our first of many parties. The pool wasn't perfect, but the food and drinks were plentiful, and the company was great.
 Lots of friends and fun!
Summertime, and the livin' is easy... It was the start of summer and what a summer it was! Calliope's first pool party led into a big pool party. Taylor Swift and Limo's to Boston with great friends. Hanging by the pool, and sometimes hanging around town, working or playing. Can't wait to see what the upcoming years bring for us all!
