Mum, you have told me on many occasions how you never dreamed you would reach the age of nearly 95 years of age. Well, I guess no one ever knows what age they will live till. We lost dad early in our lives and things were never the same.....for any of us three! Were they? But you have raised both Ian and I with a good sense of right and wrong of good and bad behavior and we have stuck to it. You have showed us how to care about others and empathize with others. To accept others for who they are and show kindness, love and caring. We are so very grateful for your longevity. We think of you every day and pray that you are as happy as you can be under the circumstances. Helen

Memories of a loving, caring mother and father. A father who was taken from us far too early!
Mum, in 2007 you ended up in Nepean Private Hospital and then into Rehab and then back to hospital and then back to Rehab. After a couple of lengthy operations you 'were off with the fairies' for a few months. Joe was at the hospital most days. I was there most days too, but after work some days. You were moved around in beds and we (Julie, Ian & I) kept a strict eye on you because we knew you were not getting the proper nursing, doctoring or sorting out of your problems that needed to happen. From late November 2007 till the end of January 2008 you were still 'off with the fairies'. I remember clearly one afternoon walking into your room and you looked up at me and said 'Oh, here is my daughter!' I knew THEN, you were back!!!!!!
I was sssssssoooooooo elated and happy I rang Ian, Julie, Joe, Lisa, Scott & Erin and gave them the great news! We were determined to bring you out the other end because we knew that you were not suffering Dementia and you went into this 'disappearance mode' and it was not like you at all. Some of the Dr's and nurses did not understand what you were like before and you were coherent, with it and we were like dogs with a bone.....we did not give up till you came back to us. Some of the nurses who saw me that afternoon said they had NO idea mum was so 'with it' as they didn't know she could even talk! We said we knew that and that is why we persisted! Helen
After your recovery in Nepean Hospital we were told that you could not go back home as you required 24 hour care. It was a blow but you took it all in your stride and with dignity. We managed after more than 6 weeks, to get you into Queen Victoria Memorial Home as it was then known. Unfortunately, after a short time there you contracted an infection which was not detected and you climbed to the end of the bed early one morning around 5.00pm and fell, breaking both your legs. You were transferred to Campbelltown Hospital and did not return to QV till the legs were operated on and splinted etc. During this time the one thing that kept you going with sheer determination was that Lisa was pregnant and you wanted to see her new born baby. And you did! Helen
Below was your first meeting with Talon.... It was your sheer determination that you lived to see this precious bundle! You said "you just could not go on and not see this special little soul that was coming into the family". So here you are .....!
