4: June 1974 - The Heimlich Maneuver for rescuing choking victims is published in the Emergency Medicine journal.

5: Our story begins with an optimistic Graduate Nurse, Nancy Formiconi, with a passion for patient care and an interest in management. Sutter Community Hospitals New Grad Hire Date: June 17, 1974 | Sutter Memorial Hospital RN, ICU starting September 29, 1974 until RN, Lab as of July 24, 1978 through April 4, 1979. | "Reserved" for picture Nancy Formiconi in Nursing Cap

6: September 10, 1981, the parent company, Sutter Health System, was formed. | In 1984, Vallejo General Hospital became Sutter Solano Medical Center. | In 1985, Novato Community Hospital joins Sutter Health System, as did Van Johnson. | In 1987, the word "System" was dropped from the parent company name, and the new Sutter General opened. | Sutter Center for Psychiatry opened in 1988 - the same year the Buhler Building was dedicated. | Auburn Faith Community Hospital became Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in 1989. | Davis Community Hospital became the first Sutter affiliate in July 1981 - the same year Sutter Ambulatory Care was created. | 1990 - Delta Memorial in Antioch affiliates. | 1986 - Seaside Hospital became Sutter Coast Hospital, and Suttercare LTC division was formed. | In 1994, Sutter acquired controlling interest in OMNI Health Plan (HMO. Van Johnson replaced Pat Hays. | Sutter Health merges with California Healthcare System to form Sutter/CHS 1996. Also joining as affiliates this year were Memorial Hospitals Association in Modesto and Community Hospital in Santa Rosa. | 1993 - Sutter Preferred Health Plan created. | SH created Sutter Medical Foundation in 1992; purchased Kahi Mohala and affiliated with Lakeside Community & Alta Bates Health System. | PAMF, Gould and Sutter North were affiliated in 1993; the year hospitals in Roseville, Amador and Tracy joined Sutter Health. | Pat Fry hired in 1982 as Administrative Resident. | 1923 - Sutter General Hospital opens by Sutter's Fort. | Sutter Maternity Hospital opens in 1937. | Sutter Maternity expanded and renamed Sutter Memorial Hospital in 1955. | In 1952, Sutter Hospital of Sacramento changed its name to Sutter Community Hospitals (SCH). | In 1964, Nancy Formiconi graduated in Nursing and started working at Sutter Memorial Hospital. Nancy left in 1979 to work a year in Merced, but wisely returned to SMH in 1980, the year after Pat Hays was appointed CEO. | In 1951, the star of this production was born. | Sutter Insurance Services Corporation (SISCO) established April 11, 1991.

11: Nancy rejoined Sutter Community Hospitals on June 23, 1980, and provided clinical leadership as Head Nurse of PACU, Sutter Memorial Hopital. On September 29, 1989, Nancy was promoted to Loss Control Coordinator of Sutter Health System and later became Loss Control Director on August 1, 1994. Nancy was highly regarded for her leadership and innovation. She became Vice President, Risk Services and Chief Risk Officer for Sutter Health, effective March 17, 2004. As Chief Executive Officer of SISCO, Nancy hired talented experts and forged strong programs to support all affiliates in the prevention and mitigation of all types of insured (and uninsured) RISKS. Quality patient care and efficient services were always Job One! This books celebrates moments throughout Nancy's stellar career!
