Dylan and Jackie had always been friends. Well, since that first day of grade school when their teacher believing they were both boys- not girls with names that can be used for both boys and girls- unwisely told them to sit on the boys’ side of the room. Jackie who was a soft spoken kind-of-girl quietly went to sit in her seat on the boys side hoping her teacher would not make her sit there too long- boys were known to have cooties, her sister had told her so this morning. But a loud ahem made her turn around, because it had been voiced with so much authority. She expected the principal to be standing behind her or the president.

So, she was surprised as her teacher was when it came from a little girl wearing pink clothes, with long blond hair. “I’m not a boy,” she said as if the idea was impossible “and I don't think Jackie is either” Jackie groaned as she was brought unwilling into the conversation. The teacher gave them both a look like she thought they were pulling her leg, “Jackie is this true?”

Before Jackie could politely say that she was a girl, Dylan loudly answered for her “of course she's a girl. Boys have cooties and she doesn't look like she has cooties.” Dylan was now circled her looking at her like she was a slab of meat. The teacher looked at them again and said they should both take their seats. Jackie smiled at Dylan and Dylan smiled at Jackie. And that day forward they were the best of friends.

Now they are both headed to the third grade. The third grade is very important because that's when colleges start looking at your grades. At least that's what Jackie thought. Dylan on the other hand could care less and was upset that they were in school again- where you had to wear shoes!

But their teacher wasn't that bad at least she knew they were both girls so they made it through the first day okay. Well except for the food fight at lunch but that was to be expected. The next day is when the trouble started. Dylan told Jackie she had a secret and if Jackie wanted to know Jackie said yes. Little did Jackie know that, that was the wrong answer.

"Listen I was playing in my room yesterday and i decided that it was very boring the way it was organized. So, i started moving stuff around and you know me i don't do things half way. Then when i started moving my bed which took forever!!! And i found this door it was a small door like latching sized i had to get on my knees." She looked like she was deciding whether or not to get on her knees to show her, but decided not to because that would take to long. "so, i go through the door and i was out side standing in am middle of a Field in middle of winter. i look around and there are people flying actually everyone is flying!!!!!!

"I ran away because they scared me but they followed. I keep running but they flew faster and caught me. They said they were taking me to their Queen because humans were illegal. I WAS TERRIFIED! when we got to the castle it was so beautiful there were long columns and statues in every corridors. Finally they reached the queen's study. "

"She had long black hair and green eyes she looked like a cat. And then I wasn't scared any more because I had always loved cats. She told me that she actually she loved humans but she just wanted to know who was walking around and that is why she made that law. She asked if I wanted tea and I said yes. She was so nice." Jackie look at her friend and she really doubted that Dylan was telling the truth. But they were best Friends so she agreed. "yes, she does sound nice." "oh she was I'm going back today. Will you come, too?" Jackie smiled and said, "there is nothing I'd like to do more." And with that they locked arms and skipped off "Wizard of Oz" style. THE END

My name is Hannah. I live on a farm and love animals. I read all the time and enjoy it. I always try to live life to its fullest and i try to smile at least six times a day!!

I'm on the bottom to the right!
