FC: The Life of Melissa Rabon

Family: My father's side of the family tends to be the "bull" of the bunch. While my mother's side is more laidback. My younger brother was born premature. Everyone thought this was odd considering I had a healthy delivery. | There aren't many boys on either side of the family. Girls rule the line of heredity.

My friends define who I am. The one friend to have the most impact on me is my best friend and my sister, Maura. While there are many other significant people in my life, my cousin has had the longest impact on me. Living in NYC for most of my life gave me such a different outlook on life and people. I credit my openmind from living there.

THE JOURNEY HAS BEEN FUN... | My Enviroment

Autonomy vs Shame: I was a very independent child. I always went off on my own. My parents gave me that space. | Baby Melissa Toddler Melissa

 Development

Learning: I learn the most from my close friends. Those I consider "close" to me I consider to be my family. Watching the things they do, the decisions they make, I learn how I want to set my values Modeling: I look up to my uncle Peter. He's been the biggest influence in my family. I learn from him as if he is my own father.

Classical Conditioned for mornings: My phone alarm wakes me up every morning to the same tone. If it's any other alarm or any other tone, I'm not awake and getting ready for my day

Strengths: Writing Reading Analytical Left-brained Determination Will Drive | Weaknesses: Math Finding pairs Optical Allusions Perception tests | INTELLIGENCE

Gardners Multiple Intelligence Theory: I may not be the best at perception, but I'm still a good visual learner

MOTIVATION: Friends Family Work Drive for success

Cognitive Dissonance: Having to balance between knowing how determined I am to be successful and having fun at the same time | Emotion: Fear: getting scared at halloween Happiness: being with friends Anger: parents separation Love: family reunions

Rationalization: Trying to rationalize why I couldn't go to my first choice college Denial: As a young child, I didn't want to admit to any of my friends that my pareents were separated Reaction Formation: I don't get along with my father very well, so when I'm around him I try overly hard to be happy and calm | PERSONALITY: type A

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY | POWER OF CONFORMITY: I conformed myself to like my second choice school as much as my first to please my parents | Fundamental Attribution Error: Because my parents hold me back from my first choice, this affects how I view them

THE FUTURE OF ME | 3 YEAR PLAN: Attend WVU fora year. Work on the side to get money to transfer Transfer to Columbia College Chicago | Major in Journalism with a minor in Public Relations

THE FUTURE OF ME | Advice from my Uncle Peter: "Don't ever let anyone hold you back from your dreams" | Hitting the Big 40: Hopefully I will have had many years experience in the journalistic world. I'd like to be the editor-in-chief of my own publication located in the city, primarily Manhattan
