Lacrosse Bears Think that Switching to Division II Could Result in Big Season The Missouri State Lacrosse Team is hoping new competition level will bring more success as the 2009 spring season looms. The Bears moved from Division I to Divison II in the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference and now have title aspirations on their mind.
Herber Takes Off Fast in New Role It didn't take much for Missouri State's Dave Herber to develop a love for lacrosse. When he was in the sixth grade, a friend from Philadelphia brought something that caught Herber's eye. "He had moved to Philly, where lacrosse is really big, and when he came back to St. Louis, he had picked up a lacrosse stick. Herber said, "I just kindof picked up the sport and started playing in seventh grade all the way up through high school."
 GO BEARS! GO BEARS!
Lacrosse tries to match Ice Bears' program level Members of the Missouri State Lacrosse Bears are aware that their team isn't very well known in the area just yet, but they're doing all they can to change that. Players and coaches are taking a grass-roots effort in order to get the team some recognition.
 Out to Make a Statement!!!
Before the season even started, some on the Missouri State lacrosse team felt the Bears might have been getting overlooked. However, that could soon be changing. Missouri State picked up two victories at home this weekend, soundly beating rival and No. 15 Harding 13-4 on Friday night and topping Creighton 13-7 on Sunday
"Lacrosse is about pulling the average citizen in and getting them to a game" -Brad Sherman | "We feel like we have been overlooked by everyone. It just makes us want to win that much more!" -Dustin Rich | "Each goal builds confidence, I just hope I can keep it rolling" -Dave Herber
Bears Forced to Take Extended Break Every college student knows that with March also comes spring break. But while spring break may mean time off and exotic destinations for students, for the Missouri State lacrosse team, it means something much different this year. No games. The lacrosse team, a club squad, doesn't play again until April 3.
Broken Neck Doesn't Stop Lacrosse Bears' Murphy Introducing Kyle Murphy, a junior defender for the Missouri State lacrosse team. Popular among teammates for his relaxed sense of humor, Murphy has experience quite a bit off (and even on) the lacrosse field. His experiences include seeing an opposing player throw a lacrosse ball at a referee in frustration and breaking his neck while playing golf.
CBC Lacrosse Trio reunite as Bears | For many athletes, the senior season of high school can be the final period of having long-time friends as your teammates. Due to recruiting and skill differences, it's not often you'll be playing at the college level with the same people you played with in high school.
Rich makes mark on victory routines Missouri State's Following every Missouri State lacrosse victory this season, it's Rich's right arm that has been getting sizzled.
MSU Not Without Fans On Key Trip
The Missouri State lacrosse team is scheduled to have two road games this weekend, facing the University of Washington-St. Louis on Friday night and Missouri Baptist Saturday afternoon. But in all actuality, those matchups are road games in name only. Nearly Missouri State's entire roster is from the St.Louis.
 One Demanding Crash Course
For the Missouri State lacrosse team, experience is a quality that's helpful but clearly not required. Four members of the Bears this season are new - to the sport itself. Whether it was past connections or a desire to find a recreational activity, all four have hit the ground running this spring season, some faster than others.
Bears in Good Position After Victories | The Missouri State Lacrosse team left Springfield last friday with the goal of clinhing a one or two seed for the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference playoffs in May. Mission accomplished. The Bears hammered divisional foes Washington-St. Louis and Missouri Baptist Friady and Saturday assuring Missouri State a first-round bye once the GRLC playoffs arrive.
New Position is No Problem for Veteran Mark Livesay
Who needs time to adapt? When it comes to goal tending, certainly not Missouri State's Mark Livesay. An all-conference midfielder the two previous seasons, Livesay has moved between the popes this season for the Bears. Through eight games, Livesay is looking more like a veteran than a first timer
 Lacrosse Eager for Final Stretch!
With their Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference regualr season title secure, the Missouri State Bears turn their focus on the next task, battling four Division 1 teams before the GRLC playoffs arrive in May.
 Offensive Firepower Carries Lacrosse Bears
The Missouri State lacrosse team made scoring goals look easy against Division -1 Arkanssas on Friday night. They finished the game beating the Razorbacks 20-8. "I'd say that the best thing was that we didn't stop. We keep working hard for the whole game", Bears coach Austin Holman stated.
MSU Lacrosse Storms Into GRLC Playoffs After Sweep
The Missouri State lacrosse team finished the 2009 regular season by defeating Division-1 teams Kansas and Kansas State this past weekend. | The Bears defeated Kansas 11-10 in double overtime Saturday then shut down Kansas State for a 13-3 win Sunday afternoon.
 All There for the Taking
The Missouri State Bears enter this weekend's Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Playoffs as heavy favorites- and that's just fine with team members. Too much pressure? Nope. "I like being the top seed." said Missouri State senior goalkeeper Mark Livesay.
 MSU Bears Win Makes History
Accomplishing its season-long goal of winning the Great Rivers Lacrosse Conference Playoffs means this season's Missouri State team is on uncharted territory. The Bears held off Wheaton 14-13 Saturday night to win the GRLC and secure their first-ever spot in the national championship tournament.
