S: Kupcho Farm

FC: Kupcho Family Barn Est. 1928

1: This is an aerial photo of the farm taken in the 90's.. Note the location of the barn. It is on the far left of the picture. It was moved 300 yards to its new location.

2: Preparing to move the hay mow off the log base.

5: July of 2009 we took down the log walls with the help of Dan, Brian, Don, Dave and Noah.

6: Dan and Clare worked carefully to remove the old barn wood so it could be used inside.

7: The weekend of June 15th was very cool. But great weather for working. We took down the majority of the barn in a weekend. We disturbed the home of a pigeon. It didn't want to leave. Dave put it on his shoulder and it just stayed right there. While taking down a wall of the barn Boone used the Chevy to pull out the wall. But it wouldn't budge. Brian got his Ford and helped pull behind the Chevy... Brian said... Clare, make sure you get a picture of that...

10: Summer 2009. The barn is in place. It is now a shell... Time for us to make plans for the inside. The outside gets finished placing 2x4 boards on end over the old tin. They used foam insulation then covered with new tin.

11: Bracing was used in four places to keep the top from shifting from the brick foundation. Boone had his 40th HS Class Reunion in July 09 Marilyn came out to check us out.

13: The new tin.. and big windows to let in the light. The original copula put back in place. The guys who did the tin work. Boone put in the last screw.

14: The floor plan was in our head. We played on paper all winter. It started out as 50 ft of garage and 20 ft of living quarters. But we compromised and discussed other options. We told the builders our ideas and they put up walls | Walking through the garage you come into the hallway between two rooms. Continue with bathroom, sauna and laundry... the rest will be open. Loft above the rooms..

15: In the summer of 2009 we finished the outside of the barn with red tin, the rooms were formed out and the old barn was demolished and put back to farm land.

16: The inside of the barn was finished the winter and summer of 2010. We used the logs from the barn for the railings. Walls are pine and cupboards are Alder

17: July the kitchen appliances and extras were installed. | The Wild family came to check up on the progress.

19: 2011 our carpenter made us a bed, and put in cork flooring on the main level. We started bringing furniture and slept in the barn for the first time in January.

20: Easter 2011 gave us an opportunity to take family pictures.

21: A cool weekend, but everyone was ready to have a walk and listen to the wise words of Father Boone, and his pooh-cology.

23: April 2011 we spent Easter at the Barn.. It was the first time forKelsey, Kevin, Noah and Sarah to stay overnight and experience barn living.

24: The barn is basically finished. spring of 2011. Details get added each time we go to Blackduck. . We worked on the outside in June putting in trees and blocks on the side of the barn to protect the ground from water and snow runoff.
