FC: Dill Harris

 Charles Baker Harris

The name's Charles Baker Harris, but ya'll can call me Dill, everyone does. I'm originally from Mississippi, but durin' the summer months I live in Maycomb County with my Aunt Rachel. I like spendin' my summers in Maycomb cause I get to spend all my time with Jem and Scout Finch. They're great friends; we always be goin' on adventures and expeditions around the town. I'm real curious and I ain't afraid of nothin'! I love to create games and I know how to read. If you ever got somethin' that needs reading, I'll read it for ya.

Another reason why I like the summers in Maycomb is that whenever I am back home in Mississippi I gotta live with my Ma and my new Pa. Life in Mississippi ain't like life in Maycomb. The world turns slower back home. Ma don't pay attention to me like I think she should, it's been this way ever since my real Pa left us in the dust. I feel left out of my own family. This one time I even ran away from home and hid under Scout's bed fro a while. I don't like it in the city and I look forward to going to Maycomb every summer.

Scout Finch Scout is my darndest best friend in the whole world. I love to play games and act out what Boo may be like with her. This one time I told her we is gonna get married and we could live in Maycomb together forever.

One big event in my life was when my mom brought home a new dad. I didn't like him that much. I felt like I wasn't loved at all. I had been replaced. At one point I couldn't take it no more. I ran away and hid under Scouts bed until they found me.

My first time in Maycomb was a very important event in my life. I seen Jem and Scout for the first time. Gettin away from my ma and finally being able to be free was amazin. I love to play with my new friends. I don't ever want to leave.

I have a lot of stuff that i like to keep close to me. One of these things is my Dracula ticket stubs. I once got five dollars from my momma and I went to see Dracula 20 times. I love to remind Jem of that cause he might be older than me but I just might be braver than him. Another thing I gots are train tickets down to Maycomb. I love to go down to Maycomb and it is the only thing that connects me to those summers in the summer sun. Whenever I'm having a bad day I just look at those tickets and dream what I might be doin if I were in Maycomb at that moment.

THERE AIN'T ONE THING IN THIS WORLD I CAN DO ABOUT FOLKS EXCEPT LAUGH, SO I'M GONNA JOIN THE CIRCUS AND LAUGH MY HEAD OFF....

This quote was said by Dill when he was watching the court case of Tom Robinson. This quote explains why Dill is so curious all the time. To Dill, people are so strange and funny to him in every way. He doesn't understand why some people do what they do but he realizes now that he can accept people for who they really are, a joke.
