Breakfast in the Calgary airport was pretty good. We had to spend the night in Calgary due to heavy fog the day before which delayed our initial flight. | Between Kelowna & Calgary we did a lot of waiting in airports trying to get to Cancun. | Carl was exhausted by the time we finally got on the plane to Cancun.

This bridge over the highway is actually part of the runway. | The airport in Cancun was hectic but we did manage to find our way through with a little help. | There are Guard stations at regular intervals on all the roads with armed military personnel.

The view from our balcony was initially disappointing... | ..but then we turned to the right, and the view from the balcony was fantastic | Mexican Angry Bird!

Our first full day in Mexico we spent in Tulum at Hidden Worlds. After we were suited up in our harnesses we had a 15 minute ride into the jungle. Our first stop - Treetop Bicycling. We weren't just in the trees though. We also went down into the cenotes on the bicycles. A few times the stalactites were so close to the bicycle line that we had to duck aside to avoid scraping up against them. | Our wrist band passes for lunch and the extreme jungle adventure

After Treetop Bicycling it was time to jump back in the jungle jeep and head off to the zip lines | Treetop Bike Station | Another group of tourists down below laughed at us monkeys in the trees

The sap of the tree behind us is poisonous | ---> | Believe it or not, the end of the zip line is tied to the poisonous tree.

Time to rappel First it's Carl's turn. | Honestly, he did enjoy it. | He made record time getting down to the floor of the cenote.

Then it was my turn | No doubt about it. I enjoyed myself. | I've never rappelled before so I went much slower than Carl did.

Next we were off to the Cenote Splash Down zip line. We all got to do this one twice. Carl went forwards both times. | I went forward the first time and got a mouth full of water, so tried backwards the next time. No water in the face the second time around.

This was my second favorite part of our day here

Now my favorite part. Our group went swimming in the cenotes. We started in one and swam through the connecting tunnels into two others before coming back to our starting point.

The guide ropes were there so we could pull ourselves along. | We saw quite a few bats as we we swimming through the cenotes

The screw popped out of my glasses when we finished up the adventure and were getting ready for lunch. Thankfully it didn't happen in the cenote. We couldn't find a tiny screwdriver but this guy knew what to do. | After lunch it was back in the jungle jeep one more time to meet our shuttle bus and then back to the resort

A few random photos by the Hidden World's photographer. | I actually saw one of these guys on the trail in the jungle. Carl and I also saw one when we were waiting for a bus a few days later | ---->

After a day in the jungle, it's time for a day at the beach

 My collection of ocean treasures | I think these ones are actually fossils | Crab shell | ---> | Bits of coral | ---> | ---> | ---> | --->

Two of my favorite photos were ones that Carl took. | <-------------------> | This little dot in the ocean is Carl's head | ------->

One day we jumped on the bus and headed down to Blue Ray Marina for a speed boat tour. | Our guide in the lead boat was terrific. At the half way point he let Carl drive even though he isn't 17 yet.

We had a lot of fun on the speed boat and Carl only made me scream a couple of times with his driving.

My favorite restaurant was Fisherman's. Our server Nico was wonderful. He kept bringing me new and fancy drinks.

It may not look like it here, but Carl really did enjoy the food.

Not only was Nico great, but the food was fantastic

We also tried the Mexican restaurant a couple of times. The first time Carl wasn't feeling well so we had to leave early and the second time I wasn't feeling well. Too much sun and not enough water never works well.

Every day they had a new bread sculpture in the main cafeteria. This is where we ate most of our meals. | I don't know what these were called but they were my favorite breakfast food at the resort. | <-----

Carl always needed that morning cup of coffee to really wake up.

We didn't spend a lot of time in the pool, but I loved the way it dropped off to a view of the ocean

Some of my favorite places at the resort were the poolside bars. Nothing better than having a few Coronas and pina coladas while sitting by the pool or relaxing out on the beach

The seagulls were brave buggers. Even if you had your food on your lap, they would still try to steal if from you. They really had no fear at all. | Carl was pretty sunburned so we spent a lot of time under the canopy by the pool just relaxing and reading.

Oh how I do enjoy a fancy drink.

This guy made the coolest paintings using nothing but spray paint. Once a picture was done, he'd use fire to set the paint.
