Koke'e State Park & Waimea Canyon | Our first night in Hawaii included driving around the entire island to find fuel for our camping stove & cooking in the rain. It only got better from there!

We chose to "warm-up" with a 7 mile hike: Awa'awapuhi trail Once we got to the lookout spot, we took a nap & waited for the fog to clear. When it did, this was our view! The hike was crazy hard and made our feet & body hurt for days!

Anini Beach Park | Polihale State Park At the end of a dirt road that we didn't think our rental car would make it down, we found this camping spot. We stayed a few days here and got very sunburned! | We stayed at Anini right before our hiking trip on the Kalalau valley trail.

 Kalalau Valley Trail Hike

At the end of our 22 mile hike in & out of the Kalalau valley, we had stories to tell. From a bladder exploding at mile 2, surviving on fruit snacks, being scared for our life at mile 6, being welcomed to camp with a cool waterfall, nudist campers, crazy hot sand, & developing "rock game"....once was enough for us. | Kalalau Valley

Grand Hayatt Resort | Our one splurge for the trip was a much needed stay at the Hayatt

Sequim, Washington May- September 2010 | We didn't realize we were renting from people that would live right next door to us, much less have 15 lawn mowers in the yard because they run a small engine repair business out of the home. 56: Helen Lake Hike and Cirque Scramble in Banff. With a total distance of 11.4 miles, 5100 feet in elevation gain. We read in our hiking guide this was considered one of the easiest scrambles in Banff. Not knowing even what a scramble was, we decided we'd give it a shot. We discovered that "easy" in Canadian translates to "near impossible." This was the hardest physical challenge we've had and we were tempted to turn back many times. But the view from the summit left us speechless.

 On top of Cirque Peak

After our scramble and long hike

Yoho National Park | Emerald Lake | We intended to camp for our last night in the Canadian Rockies, but all of the campsite were full.
