FC: 2010 January to June

JANUARY | Clockwise from top left: Alina playing in her new princess tent, Alina hugging Mommy, Sleeping in the car, Bored out of her mind, a favorite billboard, still bored, looking at all the snow and (center) at a friends New years Party.

Moving In Corinne | Early In January Alina (in her Jammies), and I helped our good friend Corinne into her new apartment. Aliona was a big help.

Cabella's | We took a ride up to the closest Cabella's one cold Saturday. Alina loved seeing all the animals.

BUBBLE | Alina loved the "gobbles" she got for Christmas!

 BATH

Let It Snow | We had our first major snowfall in January that year. Alina loved running on the deck while trying to catch the snowflakes in her mouth. Soon we had a few inches and she was able to play. And not soon after that we had a few FEET and we all played!

Snow Day! Alina had a blast playing in the feet of snow. She never once complained about being cold or wet. I had to drag her in when her nose was cherry red.

We managed to make it out of the driveway and go to Bo and Karen's for sled riding and hot cocoa.

The dogs even seemed to enjoy the snow. They played like puppies! However, we did not enjoy shoveling a potty path for them!

Daddy's Shots | These are photos of Alina in the snow Rick took with his cell phone. Not bad, huh?

February | A month full of piecing (crafts), pouting, peering, and potty training!

Dog-gone-fun! | Even Luke and Jedi managed to have fun while cooped up inside.

More Noodles! | One night at dinner Alina figured out she could put a ziti on each finger. She loved eating her pasta this way! | Good thing it was bath night!

Guess what I found? | One day after being extremely quiet, we discovered Alina found Mommy's lipstick. She painted her nose, though! She was very matter of fact, and acted like we wouldn't notice.

MARCH | Alina and Mommy in their Owl Pj's, drinking her 1st Shamrock shake, in her carseat, with her Elmo, and petting Jedi.

Cooking Marshmallows | One day Alina and Mommy made marshmallows! We had so much fun!

Time with Gran | Alina loves spending time with her Gran. Here they are practicing words. | A | B | C

Princess Alina | One day Alina played dress up - one of her favorite activities. She found all the clothes herself and came downstairs. She was beautiful. I even used one of these photos to make custom postage stamps!

Alina posed with some green beer for her St Patrick's Day card. After all, isn't everyone Irish on March 17th?

Spring Is | We love Spring. Its the time when the Earth is reborn into a warm and colorful time. One Spring day the flowers were in bloom and the birds were singing (and building nests behind our shutters!). We went outside and took a few photos. Alina loves smelling the flowers and flapping her arms like a bird! (See above.)

 in the Air!

One day Alina, Rick, and I took Gran and Keith to a local park. We cooked hot dogs and played. Alina even rode her bike. It was a fun day. | Picnic in the Park

Playing with the dogs | First "official" haircut! | The Potty Princess! | I'm cool like that! | April | No wonder they beg, Gran! | I spy a bunny!

Easter Egg Hunt at the Church | We weren't sure how Alina would "do" at the Easter egg hunt at Bl. Teresa. We shouldn't have been worried. From the word "GO she was off and running picking up every egg she could find. We were so proud!

Egg Hunt at School | School had an Easter party and egg hunt too. At this one Alina was a little stand-off-ish and even cried. The teachers had to help her find the eggs for her and fill her basket. She was not at all aggressive, but was like a little lady carrying her basket on her arm wearing her "super fancy" dress.

 Our "Little Lady"!

Blowing Bubbles! | As soon as she figured out how to blow a bubble, she decided she liked the. Very much! She enjoys going on the deck and blowing until she is all done - usually after they have all spilled! The dogs chase the bubbles and she loves to feel them pop on her skin. This day she was out in a fancy dress enjoying the day.

Dyeing Easter Eggs | What would easter be without dyeing eggs? We dyed over two dozen for dinner and for the Easter bunny to hide. We were having so much fun , even Daddy decided to join us !

Easter At The Mall | Our local mall had an Easter party with egg decorating, breakfast and a visit by the Easter Bunny. Of course, Alina was not too sure and opted not to talk to him. She loved the egg decorating and the face painting, though. | Alina and Gran decorated beautiful eggs. Then Alina decided she could paint her hand. How creative!

Alina was so scared of the Easter Bunny she wouldn't even pose with him. So they had him sneak up behind us so Gran could snap a quick photo. Alina had no idea, but still does not like this picture today!

Touchdown | Our little princess loves to kick footballs! One day after coming home from church, she jumped put of the car and ran over to the Johnson's, grabbed the football, and started kicking it like she was in the superbowl! | Alina is definitely a girly girl who loves being active. Our own little contradiction. And we love it! | Diva

Making Deviled Eggs | Alina got to help Gran make her super secret and super famous deviled eggs for Easter dinner. Gran makes them then pipes the yolk into the white with a cake decorator tool. Alina (with Jedi's help) got to lick it clean.

THE EASTER BASKET | Alina was so excited to see the basket the Easter Bunny brought her. It was full of good stuff - a princess umbrella, stickers, bubbles, a Snow White Doll, coloring books, and candy, LOTS of candy! Every time she found a piece she wanted to eat it. | All this is for ME??

In her Easter Finest | Alina loves "Fancy Dresses". So we let her wear her Easter Dress the whole day. She wore it to church, to review her basket, to blow bubbles, to snuggle with Daddy and of course to Easter Dinner with my friend Jackie!

We mixed one 3 year old, 4 adults, with one basket, 2 dozen plastic eggs, and one dozen dyed eggs and came up with hours of fun! After collecting them all we determined maybe we went a little overboard. Oh well.

Bubbles in a Tinkerbell dress. What could be more fun?

To Florida We Go! | We went to Port St. Lucie and The Villages.

In May we went to Florida to see our friends the Hodgins' and the Bakers. We spent 1/2 a week with each and had a blast!

Of course we had to go to the beach! Alina's first time and she LOVED it!

I loved watching her and Rick play in the surf and waves.

Play With Me ! | One afternoon we went to a local playground. She loved the statue and climbing the rock wall - in a dress and sandals!

Wrestling Jello! | After we dressed the girls in matching outfits we thought it would be cute to take a photo of the two of them together. That didn't work out so well. It was like wrestling Jello. The best we could do was the one of a very sunburned me holding them captive!

After a few days in PSL we drove north to The Villages. That is were our good friend and "Bonus Parents" Adele and Ed Baker live. | This pot is the pot Adele banged when WWII was over! Look at the dents! | We couldn't decide what to call Ed. his grandkids call him Pop-Pop. But Alina has a "Pa" and a "Pop-pop". So we decided on "Grumpy". We think its very appropriate! Ed, well, not so much!

Feeding the Birds with "Grumpy" One of the things Adele (Mom-Mom) & Ed (Grumpy) like to do is feed the flocks of birds that come to visit the Baker home. This time Alina got to help them.

There are many pools in the villages and Alina took advantage of them. We love to swim with her and encourage her abilities.

Adele and Ed finally got a golf cart. We rode it it every where - dinner, church, where ever! Once I asked Alina to put her hand out the window. She stuck it outside as we were driving along - her face was priceless when she realized there was NO window!

One afternoon we took a drive to an "old Florida" attraction, Silver Springs.

There was a small petting zoo, lots of wild animals and even a giraffe area. Adele and Alina got to feed them.

We took a glass bottom boat ride into the crystal clear lagoon.

Fixing Things | Alina decided one day to help Mommy tighten the screws under the kitchen table. She was so cute! She got out all the tools and tried to figure out which one went where. She managed get the screwdriver into the right spot. | Even Luke wanted in on the action. He was not much help though.

Whoooooo Loves You? | DADDY! Daddy and Alina have some awesome times together. Gran loves to take photos of them. Who can blame her?

 MAY

The Golf Course We discovered the golf course, Bella Vista, has live music and outdoor seating on Friday nights. They have seating in the lawn so Alina can "run like a maniac" on the hill behind us. Its perfect on warm summer nights. Sometimes we even walk there or home. It's Rick's favorite restaurant.

Mother's Day Rick took Gran and I to lunch at the Golf Course. We had the place to ourselves. We had so much fun goofing off, kissing, and enjoying the day.

Tea For Us! | At school they had a Mother's Day Tea. Gran and I were both invited and Alina got to wear one of her her fancy dresses.

Goin' for a Ride One night after dinner Rick and Alina went for a bike ride on the golf course. It was such a sweet moment in time. The weather was perfect, we were all in a good mood, and we were one happy family!

 Weekend with the Baxter's

One long weekend Alina and I drove to the Baxter's in Ohio! We had so much fun playing, hanging out and even went to a local fair.

A Day at the Fair | Maya made a jump rope | The girls got finger-printed by the local police. | Alina tried to ride a real horse, but no luck. So we rode a fake one instead. | Of course there were moon bounces, slides, and climbers galore!

Bax gave the girls rides on his shoulders. | And pig races, owls, ice cream, and playgrounds ... Oh my!

The best part was a petting zoo. The girls has so much fun feeding the goats and llamas carrots sticks. They giggled and laughed so loud. (The girls laughed, not the animals!)

June | From top L to R : Alina riding her bike, playing with "Patrick", modeling a Dora hat, Jedi saying "Hello", Alina hugging Luke, watching a hot air balloon land at the golf course in her jammies, and working in her "activities"!

Sesame Place | Gran got us season passes for Sesame place this year. | And. boy, did we sure get her money's worth. We discovered Alina LOVES water rides. | Her tongue is black from the black icing on the Elmo cupcake!

Walking in the Creek | Now DON'T get wet!

One of the things we like to do in the summer is walk in the creek. We walk, cool off, and look for shells or river rocks. Sometimes we even take the dogs. Today it was just us 3.

Sprinkles and Giggles | Alina eased in the sprinkler backwards. Soon she was soaked from head to toe.!And so was I.

Pottstown's Spray Park | Pottstown opened up a public spray park. It's close. It's free. And it's fun! We discovered the best time to go was early in the morning - before the crowds. We all end up pretty wet!
