FC: 2010 Balbinot Family Memories
1: Come along as we take a journey though the year. 2010
2: meant being together. | January | Enjoying dinner at La Hacienda. | Celebrating Gramma's birthday with chocolate cake. | Gramma and Papa took the kids to a matinee performance of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. | Date night for Mom and Dad at a Dallas Mavericks basketball game.
3: Cold weather activities | Wow, that's freezing. | The two Fritz's, Brooke and Daddy enjoyed some Dallas Stars hockey. | We had freezing temperatures for 3 days straight. Our neighborhood pond froze. And despite covering the pansies, they had a hard time coming back in the spring.
4: Brooke's Birthday | Brooke invited her close friends for a sleepover to celebrate her birthday. They decorated cupcakes, had a fashion show with their American Girl dolls and watched movies. | A few days after the big party we had Gramma and Papa over for cake. We gave Brooke a ring from James Avery and she got more American Girl goodies from her grandparents. | January 18, 2010
5: Daddy/Daughter Dance | February 6, 2010 | Brooke and her Daddy head off for a special evening out. | A manicure, a pedicure and some hot rollers make a pretty girl even more beautiful.
6: Winter Wonderland January 11-12, 2010 | 12 1/2 inches of snow fell within 24 hours February 11 - 12th. This was the most amount of snowfall on record for Frisco.
7: Since we don't have sleds the next best thing was a laundry basket. Mr. Leazer worked tiredlessly pushing kids down the "hill" for a short thrill.
8: Jack Balbinot June 27,1930 - February 14, 2010 | 3 generations of Balbinot guys: Brian John, Frederic John and Beverly John. (2006) | We spent some time in Phoenix in April, 2006. It was fun to have Easter with our cousins, aunts and uncles.
9: Phoenix | Brooke and Fritz got out of school for the trip to Phoenix. But they didn't get out of keeping up with their school work. | Brian was so happy to make it to Jack's place when he did. He was able to spend the last few hours with his dad before he died. Later that week the kids and I got there. We enjoyed our time with family despite the times we were missing Jack. | Donna and Robin enjoy a laugh on the patio. Instead of a church service, the family hosted friends at Donna and Waymon's to remember Jack. | Kami, Linda, Katie and Sandy spent time together catching up with each other.
10: HOOPERS Basketball | Fritz receives his trophy from Coach Kris.
11: March happenings | The two Fritzes, doing what they like best: playing and watching ball. | Gramma hangin' out. | Brooke's artwork featuring Scooby Doo was selected to be in the Youth Art Month exhibition. | Fritz's forest animal project. His report was on toucans, in the tropical rain forest. No feathers this year, whew! | Somehow Fritz got to Open House at school with only one shoe on...
12: Spring Break in Arizona March 14 - 20, 2010 | Papa Jack's sister, Betty was in town. It was fun to meet her, she has a great sense of humor. | We took in a Texas Rangers spring training baseball game. Jeff, Linda, Katie and Curtis has seats next to us. | Fritz and Brooke goofing off after dinner at the Westgate City Center. | Mama's in the picture this time.
13: Grand Canyon | Standing along the South Rim trail. | Hiking along the South rim with Lookout Point behind us. | The main entrance to the park.
14: More Snow The evening we flew home from Arizona brought big changes in the weather. We came home to more snow!
15: Celebrating at home with chocolate brownies. | April 3, 2010 Fritz's birthday party was at the Fieldhouse. They played soccer and basketball and enjoyed a meal from the grill and cake. | Happy Birthday Fritz
16: The Garden, also known as "The Farm" | We constructed and planted a 4x8 foot vegetable garden. Included in our crops: 3 tomatoes, 2 bell peppers, 2 cucumbers and 1 strawberry plant. We also planted green bean seeds, but they didn't produce any beans. The tomatoes got huge and crowded out the peppers. The cucumbers did very well but the strawberries didn't make it. Once the tomatoes were thinned and eventually pulled out, the bell peppers took off. We had peppers until Halloween!
17: Spring Showers and lawn mowing lessons.
18: Dallas Zoo | We visited the Dallas Zoo the weekend they opened the new Giants of the Savanna exhibit.
19: Summer's Here | Draining the pool; Brooke and Bekah practicing before their sewing class; SillyBandz; First fruits from our garden; Fritz made pizza for us!

23: Happy 15th Anniversary Brian & Gail July 29, 2010 | The State Fair of Texas, caramel apples and giant pumpkins. | Braces! Fritz liked Dr. Benham the best because he talked to Fritz directly. | We all went out for dinner at the Magic Time Machine, where we had our first date!
24: Back to School | Schedules! Brooke, Kaci and Kylie compare their classes. | Clark Middle School | 6th Grade | Lauren, Rachel, Brooke and Bekah are ready to go. | Fritz is in Mrs. Stevens' class at Smith Elementary.
25: Fritz, Aven and Colton get ready to hit the streets trick or treating. Brooke, Rachel, Bekah and Lauren ready to go! Brooke handing out candy to some of the little kids that came to the door early. Brian and Fritz practice pitching the tent before going on a Cub scout camp-out. Aven and Fritz at the campsite.
26: Fritz and Brooke stayed busy over the break. They played games, had friends over and decorated gingerbread houses. Brooke made some gifts for her grandparent by hand. | Dad enjoyed some time outside by the fire and we all watched "Miracle on 34th Street together on the cozy couch.
27: It's Christmas | Fritz thinks he knows what's inside this package for him. | LEGOS | He was right. Pretty much all Fritz wanted for Christmas was LEGOS. | Brooke opens a gift from her brother. Pink earbuds for her iPod, very good. Hugs for Fritz.
28: Christmas Morning | Brooke made a very special gift for Papa this year. She painted a picture of the Marblehead lighthouse for him. She was a little nervous about how it would turn out, but in the end was proud of her work. Papa loved it. | Mom had her heart set on a new Keurig coffee maker. | Fritz was happy to get his own knitted stocking this year. Papa Jack's friend Irma made this especially for Fritz.
29: We all had fun working on the puzzle over the break. Brooke and Fritz had gotten it started one afternoon while mom was out shopping. It turned out to be a lot of fun for everyone. | The finished product. We were so proud of our work. | Brooke and Dad spend time together working out Mind-Bender puzzles. | Time for our annual gingerbread house decorating. Fritz decorated his with Legos, of course. Brooke was more traditional. Fritz also made some unique Christmas creations with Legos.
30: The Ice at the Gaylord Texan. | We were provided with huge thick parkas to wear inside. Good thing, it was only 9 degrees.
