3: Friends from church, Barbara and Allen Nelson wanted their bedroom painted. The job was too overwhelming for them to do on their own. We found out about their need and we offered to help them out. | We spent the day painting their room and closet. We are not sure who was blessed the most. Barb fed us a wonderful lunch and Allen told us stories about their time on the mission field. What a wonderful day and what fun to do something for someone so special. | Caught ya off guard at the computer!

21: SUMMER PROJECT | These brick have been "recycled" so many times over the years. They originally were the chimney brick to the house. Because the chimney leaked, Lee tore it down and we have been landscaping different parts of our yard since. When installing the brick around the back yard we drove a stake in a sprinkler pipe which meant adding more work onto the project.
22: Back Yard Shade Garden
23: I was hired by an interior designer to make two sets of draperies for her client in Portland. He selected linen for the project! I definitely burned the midnight oil on this job! The fabric sagged and stretched. The wrinkles would not iron out. And the client questioned my ability to do the job. They turned out beautifully but I vowed that I would never take on a job like this again no matter how much it paid!

27: Our port-of-call at Cascade Locks | Our Captain for the evening - | Captain Tom Cramblett
28: We have driven down I84 dozens of times and have never known what interesting things happen just below the interstate on the river. Things like sea lions sunning themselves on the rocks and the tribal fishing sites along the banks. The Columbia River is the 4th largest river in the USA and the largest in the Pacific N.W. starting in British Columbia and emptying in the Pacific Ocean at Astoria, Oregon.
29: The natural Bridge of the Gods was first created by a landslide in the 1000's AD. The Indians used it to cross the river. Due to earthquakes in the 1600's, it collapsed causing the river to be very shallow and the passage way very narrow under the current bridge. The Indian Legend concerning the creation and the destruction of the bridge is a love story between the gods, Squaw Mtn and 3 brothers - Mt Hood, Adams and Rainier and Mt St Helen who was the peacemaker.

47: Dear Family and Friends, With the girls living on their own, working, and making their own memories, Lee and I are in that time of life where we are learning all over again how to enjoy each other's company. Whether it is dressing up for the dinner cruise on the Sternwheeler down the Columbia River or roasting hotdogs in the chimney on the patio on a warm summer evening, we are having fun accumulating our own special "Kodak moments". As precious as these memories are, even more precious are the times we have spent with those close to us. Whether it's a long distance phone conversation with family or chatting with church friends over a cup of tea, both Lee and I have enjoyed these special relationships. Being miles apart (especially in the case of family!) is not a problem while we have free minutes and the Internet. Thank goodness for modern technology! In light of recent events in our country, Lee and I are realizing more and more how precious our friends and family are to us. Taking a trip or owning the latest gadget may be satisfying for the moment, but what really counts is building bonds with those people whom God has placed in our lives. We are looking forward to more opportunities this coming year of spending time with you and continuing to build these lasting friendships. So as 2012 comes to a close, we just want to say thank you for all the love, support, and encouragement you have shown us this last year. We pray you have a wonderful 2013 and may God bless you as you experience your own special "Kodak moments". | Love, Lee & Jeannine | P.S. - Thank you for your Christmas greetings. We trust you had a joyous Christmas with your family and friends. | December 31, 2012
