BC: Hope you enjoyed it!
FC: Maria Paula Saavedra B SCHOOL'S YEARBOOK | 2013-2014
My year... | Dear English teacher, my 2013-2014 school year has been the most difficult year in terms of school, more specifically because of the vast amount of knowledge that we acquired daily in every subject. Fortunately I have done very well and that, in large part, thanks to all those people who were there to help me as well as for giving me support and company. This year brought some very special people to my life and allowed me to reconcile myself with some, even if it also took out of my life a few. 2013-2014 was also a year full of events, school events as well as out-of-school events. It was a really nice year, I reached most of the goals that I had set to myself at the beginning of the year and I hope that those that I’m fixing for the next one will be reached as well.
Important people | The beginning of this year was difficult; it was hard for me to understand some topics in some of my subjects. In my STE class I didn't understand what the teacher was explaining to us. The same thing was happening with my SN math class. It was frustrating because I was making a lot of efforts in order to understand, but the information just didn't want to get into my head. In addition to that, at the same moment, one friend of mine, the one that I thought was my best friend, stopped talking to me with no explanation. Because of all these reasons I wasn't feeling well. But, thank god some people were there for me, to bring me support and help, to make my secondary four year school, a year full of joy.
First of all, my MOM, this wonderful woman is the most important person in my life. I share with her the happiest moments like the saddest moments of my life. She is always there for me and she will always be. This woman is my best friend; I can always count on her. This year she supported me and helped me when I really needed it. We had a lot of fun together during this year. I extremely love her.
MY LITTLE BROTHERS <3 | The little monsters | Then, there are these two little monsters, my dear little brothers. These kids always know how to get a smile to sadness. They teach me to persevere. They showed me that if they, being so small, they can do many things, I can do them too, if I propose so to myself. These kids showed me the things that really have value in life. They gave me the strength I needed sometimes. This year we laughed a lot and had a lot of fun together. And even if sometimes they drove me crazy, I still love them very much.
This woman is the sister of my mother's husband, but I love her like if she was my aunt. She helped me a lot throughout the year, especially when I did not understand the concepts that we were seeing in science and math, and because she was very good in maths and science, she could easily help me. I really thank her because no matter if she was tired after work; she was there to help me. I had a lot of fun with her during the time that she lived with us. I really love her and I even consider her as a sister
This year came into my life a very special person, Jennifer. I am very grateful to her because, this year, when I had no one, she accepted me as I was, and was there for me unconditionally. She offered me her friendship. I will never thank her enough for all she did for me. I really appreciate her, she has become like a sister to me. I thank God for putting her in my way, because thanks to this great friend, I had a great time this year. We had a lot of fun together. I hope that our friendship will last for long.
Nelly! | Nelly is also a very important person to me. I know her from secondary one. This year I only had class with her in English, science and physical education, but we had a great time together, especially in science we laugh a lot, most of all when we were doing laboratories and teamwork. I appreciate Nelly a lot, she is a very special person with everyone and I hope she never change.
Morsal | And finally, Morsal, she was a very good friend of mine last year, but because of silly problems, we stopped talking to each other. This year allowed me to reconcile myself with her, maybe we still do not have the same friendship we had last year but at least we talked and laughed together occasionally. I hope that next year we will be the good friends we used to be.
Important events! | Secondly, the year 2013-2014 was marked not only by people but also by several events, school events as well as out-of-school events.
First, in what concerns school events, I can say that, the one I enjoyed the most was Halloween's day. It was really funny. For this date, most of the Latinos in secondary four decided to dress up like cholos. We took a lot of photos and we had a lot of fun.
This one is an art project which I am very proud of. We had to shape our hand with plaster on the way we wanted, so to convey a message, such as street art. I decided to make a hand with a chain around it. The chain refers to some of those things which human beings are chained to, such as stereotypes, the importance of being physically perfect and the big influence of technology and social media on us. I inspired a lot of the topics covered in my English class at the time of making the hand. I really had a lot of fun when doing it. | ART PROJECT
Then, in what concerns out-of school events, the event that marked this year the most, was the marriage of the karate teacher of my brothers. It was the first Quebecor’s marriage I ever went to and it was also the craziest marriage I've ever been. It was a Sunday, and my brothers had a karate-show, on the tickets it was written “karate show and marriage”, my family and I didn't understand what they meant by “marriage”, but we went anyways. When the show was finished, several people entered to the show room with elegant dresses and suits, including the husband of my brother's teacher. Five minutes later the teacher entered with a wedding dress. My family and I thought it was a joke and that it was only part of the show, but no, later on, we realized that they really were getting married. Then the event started and instead of waltzing, as traditionally, they danced a Cuban song. It was incredible. That day I had a great time. What I liked the most was the fact that the marriage was not based on the image and on the money, like many marriages, but on simplicity. It was just to celebrate that important event and to have fun, and that's what really matters.
This year I received the best birthday gift of my life, a trip to Cuba. For Latinos, the fifteenth birthday of a girl is the most important birthday of all. So my mom asked me if I wanted a big party or a trip, I preferred a trip, so we went to Cuba. It was super cool. There were beautiful beaches, it was a wonderful place. I really had a great time with all my loved ones. | CUBA
And finally, the concert that I enjoyed the most this year; the Arcangel’s one. Arcangel is a very well-known artist in South America. He sings reggaeton music. I love his music, so when I knew he was coming to Montreal I decided to buy the ticket for the concert. It was amazing. When I came home, I had no voice, I had sung and I had screamed a lot.
In conclusion, this year was amazing, even if it was a little difficult at the beginning. A lot of people and events marked this great year. I really enjoyed this 2013-2014 school year, and I will keep good memories of it. I even reached the most important goal that I had set to myself at the beginning of the year; it was to have a better relationship with my dad. We may not have the best relationship, but at least we started to call each other more often. I’m even going to Colombia this summer to visit him and his family. I hope I’ll have a great time with him. Then, in what concerns the next year, I didn’t decided yet what’s going to be my next goal. But it will maybe be to lose the four pounds I gained this year. But I’ll leave that to the destiny.
Thanks everyone for this wonderful - school year! | 26/05/2014
