FC: 2012 Loudoun County Friends of NRA Annual Banquet
1: As adults, we know the value of the 2nd Amendment, gun rights, etc., but unless we transfer our enthusiasm, knowledge and education to our youth, the future of shooting sports and gun rights in general will fade away. | The Friends of the NRA is non-profit 501 3(c) grass roots organization that raises money on the local level to support youth shooting programs, Second Amendment education, hunter education and range development. 100% of the net proceeds raised at Friends Events are granted back to qualifying programs: 50% stays in the state where the money was raised, and 50% is granted to programs with a more national scope. Each local Friends committee gets a vote in the grant process. Over the years, hundreds of Loudoun County youth have benefited from grants received by the Loudoun County Izaak Walton League. In fact, twice a month, the Loudoun County IWLA offers youth programs to the public at no charge. Youth attendees can participate in shotgun shooting, rifle shooting, hunter safety and archery. The grant money makes it possible for the volunteer coaches and the IWLA to provide firearms, ammunition, and all the necessary equipment to educate the next generation of competitive shooters, sportsmen, and hunters and to cultivate the future defenders of the Second Amendment.
