S: 2013 Smith Sisters Christmas Goodies Weekend

BC: December 13 – 15, 2013

FC: Smith Sister's | GOODIES WEEKEND

Twas the week before the Christmas Goodies Weekend was to start, And Jennifer's plans had all fallen apart. The four day weekend was taken away, Afraid there would not be enough time to play. College daughter in Little Rock was due to come back, So Jennifer didn't even bother to pack. When what to her wondering ears should she hear? But pleas from her children & husband so dear, Cookies and candies and pretzels a must, Oreo Balls, Turtles and fudge we do trust. It wouldn't be Christmas without the whole loot, So make the great goodies, visit your sisters to boot.

So plans changed again and with a trip to the store, Bought all the ingredients for goodies galore. But Friday's weather called for snow and more snow, Afraid to drive herself, she'd be a no show. Husband Mike could take a long route he saw, From home in Iowa to Arkansas. Safely they made it Friday night in the dark, Twice the time, but on the vehicle no mark. | But Jeanne was ready with all of her stuff, Will it fit in the car? It just might be tough. Her Friday ride in was covered in slush, I mean on the road, not her wine glass, so hush.

We all made it safely and stories were told, Making us laugh, our stomach we did hold. Of Steven's new house with the sound proof room, Of Vanessa's new court outfit for going zoom-zoom. Officer Gott pulling her over for failing to yield, And the “Good” candy bars strung all over the field. | The evening ended and we all went to bed, To rest up for the big baking day ahead. Mike left in the morning, before chores even started, And baking began shortly after they parted.

They worked and they worked and “Got along really well,” Meaning the goodies were done, not that they would yell.

Gifts needed opening , so they took a break. Jeanne's was first, since hers had a shake. | A pillow with bells, to make lots of noise. Too loud and annoying, said her two boys.

Jeanan was second with her themed festive plate, A jar, a spoon, and a necklace of a sideways 8.

Julea was next of course, with a picture of our names, And old barn boards, from the Smith Farm she claims.

Jennifer finished up, it was finally her turn! Mrs Claus and Elf aprons, to sew she did learn. Laughter was heard when Jeanne exclaimed, “The Hot Santa Moms!” “No we're not!” said middle sisters inflamed.

Back to work they went, with help from Mary. That's Nick's wife, their baby she did still carry. Peanut butter was not used in her family treat. But only as a color guide, Isn't that neat? The Toffee she made, was so light and so good. Should we invite her back? Yes, I think that we should.

The Guys made Turtles, just like every year, Cooling on car hoods, roofs and rear.

They played many cards & when they were done, Only the notepad knows who really won. Vanessa & Mary were invited to play, And laughter was heard all through the day.

Jeanan called our brother, Truck Driver Jon, To find out what mile marker he was on. Four million miles he has drove for Conway, A dollar for every mile, he wished they had paid. | Sure that Mom & Dad, would have been proud. Sure Jon said, “It's No Big Deal for crying out loud.” Other drivers around, could not hold a candle, The best part is, what he has as a HANDLE.

Elves at work reading recipes and cutting fudge, Who’s working the hardest, you be the judge.

We decorate and decorate, To make them look pretty. We don't really have to, They're still the best in the city.

Julea is making noise, away she did go. To add a taste, to your coffee or to hot cocoa.

Variations to Oreos, we put into packs. Cornflakes were new, don't forget the haystacks.

Oreo Balls vs. Turtles; the count was so close. But the girls’ goodies had an Angel in pose. Jeanne's taffy didn't work, we won't do that anymore, And Julea’s mint puppy chow, fell on the floor. Jeanne said too quickly, “It’s ok, it’s ok.” No its not, we had to throw some of it away.

We arranged them all nicely around the table, Find a place to stand where ever you are able.

18 hours later, we took us some pics, We tried for a good one, to show our Aunt Dix. We knew she would laugh, with David’s photo bomb. But if you look real closely, it was actually our Mom. We posted them on Facebook, and went on to bed, Dixie, Tawny & Misty continued the thread.

We awoke in the morning to divvy our ware, “Nick you can't take them all, you have to share!”

We made special plates, to give to neighbors and fam, Aren't you glad we did so? I know that I am. We knocked on their doors and they met us with smiles, Accepted them greatly and they could talk for miles.

If word gets out, others might get jealous, We will include them next year; they just have to tell us. We received Mimosa from Dena, a thank you from Brenda, Looks like photo bombing, was on Steven's agenda.

We left the homestead Sunday with laughs, hugs and tears, Merry Christmas to all and prepare for next year! | Vanessa helped take more pictures, hold still as can be. Are you ready girls? Smile! 1, 2...... 3.
